Underrated? No chance. One of the most overrated players from the Fergie-Era for me. Lampard, Gerrard and maybe even Carrick above Scholes in midfield IMO.

2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂

What exactly are Rudy’s credentials to be in charge of spending for a Championship side that finished 7th last season? There’s a reason Middlesbrough and Derby are willing to pay millions for our players - they recognise proven quality. Overseas investment can work when you add one or two signings to a strong, established squad. That’s a calculated risk. But trying to replace almost all of our Championship-proven experience with bargain European options? That’s gambling the entire season. If this is the club’s new ethos, we’re in real trouble. And then there’s the Travis deal - which, in my opinion, is far worse. Technically, he might not be at the same level as a Tronstad or others in the squad. But what he offers in leadership, dressing-room presence, fan connection, on-pitch gamesmanship, and influence over referees is priceless at this level. We’ve all heard him say in post-match interviews: “I love this club.” If that’s true, why not fight for his teammates and the badge for one more year and then leave on a free? Selling him now feels like a betrayal of the spirit he’s shown and erases much of his previous good work. One thing’s certain - this is going to be a long, difficult season. All we can do as fans is stay motivated and keep backing the lads on the pitch. But there’s only so much we can take. The sooner these owners, and their yes-men in the boardroom, are gone, the better. -
Eustace…he gone…*official*

Great point! Although it matters internally, there are supporters spending their valuable time and money going tonight. it's a disgrace the lack of communication to us. -
I think we need to be looking at top League One talent. Our recent history of using this method has been a success, the signings of both Dack and Smod showed that the step up wasn't too tough for them. Added to this, promoted teams like Ipswich making light work of the Championship. Going out and buying the best League 1 player is something we should be prioritising in my opinion.

That *was* the January Window

Andy saying up to 5 million dollars = £3.9m. Not too bad. Yes, we pay more if we take it up. However, worth the risk if he isn't up to it for me. -

Surely this is the best option. Assess his ability and if we are keen come the end of the loan we can take up the sale at a pre-agreed price. Good business if true. -

I might be in the minority here but for me, we have missed his presence on the pitch. Of course he has his weaknesses. Personally, I don't think he is physical enough for his size and his aggression for a striker is poor. That said, I feel we perform better when he is on the pitch and I would like to see our win record with him in the team as to when he is not. 1m or 1.5m is too low in todays market. -

It was 3 times but in The Championship not League 1. -

Didn't Mulgrew score directly from a corner 3 times in our League 1 season? -
Well I’m glad this prediction turned out as expected. I posted this when the man didn’t have a goal under his belt that season. A lesson to be learned - back the players and the team COYB!

Raya was a bargain for Brentford at £3 million when we sold him. Genuine question... Where would Brentford have finished last season with Walton in goal instead of Raya?
-
Fair play mate. I was waiting for this haha

No chance.

I think if you look at Bournemouth, Watford, Norwich, Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday, Derby, Nottingham Forest (to name a few) they will be paying their top asset more than 20k p/w.
-
I think it's fair to say he will be offered close that from other championship/premier league clubs. Especially, if he decides to run his contract until its end.
-
That's good news then! I wasn't aware of that, thanks.

The thought of losing somebody of Nyambe's quality on a free is frightening. On his day he's arguably our best asset. We seriously need to be working hard on getting our key players to sign new deals, ideally before the season starts. Isn't Dack's deal up at the end of next season too?

Wow

Is there any news on where Tosin is going next season? Surely won't be competing for a spot at City just yet. There seems to be no speculation on his next move and no mention of him coming here for another season again.

I don't want to be known as ITK. However, my good friend who has strong links at Wigan believes the deal with Kipre is pretty much a done deal with us. I hope he's right.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8670711/West-Brom-make-approach-Wigan-centre-Cedric-Kipre.html Daily Mail reporting it now. Not exactly credible. However, thought I'd share.

I think I may be in the minority here but I genuinely believe Ben Brereton will turn out to be a great player. He looks a complete different player post lockdown, it is clear to see that the only thing he is lacking is confidence in front of goal. I believe when that goal comes he won't look back. He looks stronger, quicker and glides with the ball. Keep the faith!

Would you sign Christian Walton
ChickenBolty replied to Prelude's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
In my honest opinion, in a Blackburn Rovers shirt Walton has been worse. -

If promotion is a genuine ambition this season or next the answer has to be "No". For me, he is by far the worst keeper we have had since being relegated from the Premier League....and I've watched Jason Steele.
