  1. Typical after all this he had one of his quietest games in a while 🤣
  2. I doubt that is anything but a “soft target”. If JDT gets the boot for playing the wrong players I’ll concede I was wrong, but I don’t see that happening. Remains the case that we need the academy to produce a return on investment, and it is a huge advantage we uniquely have in this league to edge toward self sustainability. I just don’t think saying “Rovers have played a lot of academy players, this should be encouraged and continue” is as nefarious or unambitious as you state - it’s just the right way to go.
  3. FullSizeRender.MOV My favourite thing about the gaffer is the way he says “everybody”, and that it sounds like someone from Rovers put space echo on it
  4. Well I’m using hyperbole to illustrate my point. Similarly, I don’t think anyone from the club has said “our only aim is to give minutes to academy players” but it’s in the post I’m replying to.
  5. Personally, I think it’s a good thing that our DOF is talking about a strategy that will make the most of our excellent existing resources and provide a healthy and sustainable model for a club of our size going forwards. Last thing I wanted to hear was “we’re gonna invest millions into established players we can’t really afford, roll the dice and hope we go up to pay for it” Our advantage in this league IS the academy. It has to be the main focus of the direction we go in.
  6. I’m not sure pissing off or shipping out Bradley Dack would be the best way to achieve that. Seems very popular and a good laugh in the dressing room, and one of the few senior players we have. It was the first game. Let’s not panic yet.
  7. A lot of them play in the arse end of nowhere and are poorly marketed. Sharing the “identity” of the men’s side, where the clubs fans are used to going, could really boost the profile and eventually become a decent revenue stream.
  8. Bigging us up again on the BBC 6 o clock news, reporting from the training centre etc Great publicity for our fantastic youth setup
  9. Can understand the thinking from Broughton's comments - if we'd signed someone older on a permanent contract, they would get in the way of our young lads. JDT must be pretty confident in their ability going forwards. Looks a good player this lad - hopefully more Elliott and less of a Clarkson.
  10. Absolutely delighted. IT CAME HOME! What a fantastic tournament it's been, chuffed that so many people have seen how far it's come on in the last 10-15 years - genuinely entertaining games of graft and physicality with loads of skill and passion. Tugay wears Keira Walsh pyjamas, and if we had Mary Earps in goal instead of Jason Steele we probably wouldn't have gone down. This is the beginning of a new era in the women's game, really excited to see how good it's going to get. Thousands of young girls can wake up today dreaming about being superstar footballers, just like we all did. Next step imo - get the club teams to play at the same grounds as the men.
  11. Already making us look very light at CB with just one out. Still, looks a good side. 5-0
  12. I think they show we can have those traits, but can also flip to wildly optimistic and delirious with joy after a good win or run of results. Like any football fans in the world, ever.
  13. Personally I don't know enough of him to write him off yet. Just tickled me a little.
  14. Got to laugh. Page upon page of "we need players asap", then it looks like we're signing one and it's "that's too much money, hard pass"
  15. A final at Wembley vs. Germany then, doesn't get much bigger than that. Bright vs Popp should be some battle, and whoever wins that likely wins the game. Germany are a good side, but I think we'd have fared worse against the pace and intensity of Diani etc.
  16. The real standout and the key to England’s success for me is Keira Walsh. Tugay-esque. Everything goes through her, and little gets past her. Rovers heritage always helps a player.
  17. Surely Germany. But either team will be massively tough, France can be lethal. England have the momentum though, hopefully that’s enough to help them over the line.
  18. Yeah I know what you’re saying. I really rate Russo too, she’s got the lot. Just don’t see her being dropped for the final after starting the rest. Ellen does a job, she’ll scrap and beat them up a bit, could give us a bit of a foothold in the game.
  19. I can understand the argument with dropping White. But she’s still class, a presence up top, and it’s a big call to change the starting team that got you to the final. The Russo goal was filthy though, sheer quality.
  20. Absolutely class. Bouncing down Bramall Lane on the way out. The women’s game is gonna be huge. It’s different yeah, but it’s still quality football. Imagine how good it’s gonna be with another 10 years of professionalism behind it. Roll on Sunday. IT’S COMING HOME
