  1. Stanley holding their own, look every inch a solid League One team. Still have to pinch myself thinking about going down there for £2 when they were in the Unibond First Division.
  2. Sounds right. I believe it - relatively. All clubs in the list are as ballparkish as each other. Armstrong may have England/goal incentives etc. May even had to take a pay cut to come here. Dack will have been on 4-5k a week MAX before we snapped him up. Remember when we were under embargo and Bowyer bemoaned a 10k a week limit? There were a few clubs scoffing at his whinging yet at the time we thought it a massive restriction. We ended up signing Sacha Petshi and Fode Koita. Those two couldn’t believe their luck. We’re a different club nowadays, parachute payments and unsustainable gambles and lack of perspective are long gone - TM and League One has got us a bit saner. The “spoilt millionaire” trope doesn’t work for our players anymore - I reckon there’s a good few professionals on this board that earn more than Travis, Smallwood, Downing, Nuttall etc.
  3. I agree - this is the thing. We are just taking advantage of Pulis being Pulis. He’s an exciting young England youth international that oozes quality, we’ve all seen it. Yes it might not seem “imaginative”, or “for now” and he might not be Danish or whatever - but by having him last season we’ve laid the groundwork for a real bargain signing like Armstrong. Everything is risk vs reward. It’s just too attractive a “gamble” not to take. No brainer for me and I hope it happens as soon as Maja has finished his ice coffee and signed his contract.
  4. Aye I see what you mean, but if we took that Oldham game as any judgement on ability I’d practically want a new first eleven.
  5. Isn’t Armstrong quicker? It’s technical ability that really stood out for me. First yard in the head or the trick etc.
  6. 100% agree with that.
  7. I understand concerns over the squad but you know I’m an optimist and think we’ve already got 99% of what we need to have a go at this season’s run in... But equating Mowbray to the Coyle’s of this world I’d have to take issue with.
  8. I’m claiming this one sorry. I’m instagram Poirot. If it weren’t for me we wouldn’t know that Tomlinson was punching well above his weight or that Maddison was the ripped jeans lad. Proper out of the blue if we sign Chapman...
  9. I told you! Josh Maja drinks Frappuccinos!
  10. He’s here look. We were just reaching a level of civility.
  11. But sometimes that’s the best deal! Better than an out of date bottle of Diamond White. With Chapman I think it’s worth it. Will cost relative pennies for one of the highest rated English players of his age (England U-20 WC winner). The lad’s got skill, technique and a cockiness that we only have in Dack, and even if he loses a yard he’s still got time to develop other areas of his game, into a number 10/playmaker/craftier Conway etc. Seems a good character too. I can see why Mogga would want him around for the price.
  12. Thought it was weird to do two on one day... I’ve just been behind Josh Maja in the drive thru Starbucks near the hospital. He got a skinny Frappuccino. Games gone.
  13. Is he though? I don’t want to start another Maddison rumour again.
  14. A good old fashioned half time unveiling tomorrow?
  15. That’s big business. It’s not the football business mind, but I can kind of understand the line of thinking. Might sound crazy - but I’d rather they make decisions on financial advice rather than via the type of advisors they’ve had in the past...
  16. Exactly. They were relegated. How have we not improved???
  17. That’s a goodbye post if I ever saw one. Apologies - transfer windows make me a bit mental.
  18. Most people don’t really.
  19. I’ve certainly noticed. It’s odd. And whilst he is not above reproach it seems some are looking for every possible reason to criticise the man who has made massive strides for the club in his time here. I’ve seen people deny he’s even made a difference or has only just met expectations. I disagree. I’ve seen complaints about the “Mowbray fan club” who think he can do no wrong. I’ve always tried to be balanced and have no trouble criticising when it is due - but when debating with people who seem to have it in for him and have put a “target on his back” it’s natural to come across as defensive! We could be 3 points off the playoffs this time tomorrow lads.
  20. It’s the sudden finding of patience that is confusing for me, well - if they are foreign
  21. “Sign players ready for the first team!” ”Brereton is a shit player because he’s one for the future!” ”Sign players for the future!” The goalposts move so much on here Chris Brown could score.
  22. Sheffield Utd, Boro and Derby are doing alright.
  23. I have fond memories of pasting West Ham 7-1 in 2001 and looking fantastic. By the time we got back to @Biz‘s grandmas house Glenn Roeder has had a heart attack I believe, or am I making that up? Felt a bit guilty as I recall.
