v Ipswich Town (h) - 20/9/25

We had 2 diabolical decisions against us that season. This one obviously, but one which I felt was even worse was the one against Utd at home when Henning Berg made a great tackle on Lee Sharp. Gerald Ashby the proceeds to give a pen and send Berg off. Andy Gray on commentary could not believe it and not could anyone else in the ground. The worst decision I have ever seen, luckily it didn't cost us in the end ! -

Blackburn and Ipswich could have to replay their Championship match in full after it was abandoned in the 80th minute. Blackburn were 1-0 up, with Ipswich down to 10 men when the referee temporarily suspended the match due to heavy rain. After a short delay, the match was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch. Sky Sports News understands that any decision on the replay or awarding of the results is down to the EFL. However, Jacob Greaves' red card will stand, no matter the EFL's decision. In a statement to Sky Sports News, the EFL said: "This afternoon’s Sky Bet Championship fixture between Blackburn Rovers and Ipswich Town was abandoned due to an unplayable surface. "The decision was taken in agreement with both managers. The Board will consider what action is to be taken as a result of the abandonment, in-line with EFL Regulations." According to FA Rule 20 (E) (iii), the EFL will decide if the match is replayed in full and the league's management committee is "empowered to order the score at the time of an abandonment to stand". EFL regulation 34.2 states that if a match "falls short of 90 minutes’, it may be ordered to count as a completed fixture or be replayed in full or in part on whatever terms and conditions the board" decides. Blackburn said on social media that a decision will be taken by the EFL board in "due course". "The game has been abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch. Full details will be communicated," Ipswich said. -

Yeah, I think most people would agree that it was probably the right decision as it was starting to become farcical. The issue is will the league show some bollocks and come up with the right decision -

It's so fucking frustrating because it has detracted from what was a really good performance again, coming on the back of the win at Hull. I wasn't optimistic going to the game today, but thought we were excellent throughout. -

The main issue is, and always has been the fact that the pitch drains into the river. If the river is overflowing there's nowhere for the water to go. I'm not sure what the answer is but I'm pretty sure it's not the pitch itself that's the problem -
Can anyone confirm the whereabouts of Harvey Higgins? Some have mentioned he's injured, hopefully he's not been quietly moved on elsewhere.

I'm not one for being harsh on players, particular young lads, but I'm beginning to wonder what the hype is about Tyjon. Really haven't seen anything yet that makes me think "wow" . Probably go on to get a hat trick now , but have to say I think he's a long way off first team football. A loan may do him good. Like young Funny, got a nice left foot but you do worry about him physically as well, needs to bulk up a bit.

That was a huge 3 points ahead of what looks like a really difficult game next week against Ipswich. They brought off the bench Sami, Jack Clarke, the lad they got from Norwich for £10m and the Norwegian lad they paid £17.5m for. Even in the championship it's becoming a 2 tiered league, we can't compete with the likes of these , Birmingham and Wrexham , as sad as that is -

Blackburn Rovers are worried about letting striker Makhtar Gueye leave - and may block a switch to Turkish side Kocealispor. The forward has been unsettled by his lack of game time and would welcome a chance to play with a transfer. However the loan switch is now unlikely as Rovers would be left with just two senior central forwards and young Igor Tyjon. Both of their first choice attackers will have international duty in the coming months to add to the risk. And Tyjon is also playing for England youth sides as he is regarded as the best young forward around. However he is yet to start a Championship match and it would be too much to have him as a regular sub who comes on to save the day. -

This is the narrative the people like Gestede and Pasha want. Pull the rug from under his feet by selling the cornerstones of your team and replace with untried foreigners. If it fails, nothing to do with them, it's all down to the manager ( who was pleading to keep these players) Just like JDT and Eustace, Ismael has both hands tied behind his back trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. If it goes tits up this season I won't be blaming Ismael, I'll know who's to blame -

Exclusive By Alan Nixon Chelsea’s bid to sign super teen Camden Schaper has hit an agonising snag that has left the kid in limbo. The London giants have agreed a stunning £750,000 deal with Blackburn Rovers for the 13-year-old wonder. However there is a huge paperwork problem as Schaper is South African and only joined Blackburn’s academy when they got special permission for him to be in the country. Schaper came to England with his family 18 months ago and was granted residency status to play for Rovers as a young hopeful. But if Chelsea want to sign Schaper and take him permanently they need to apply for a VISA and that may not be successful because of his age. And in a further twist Chelsea do not want to spend the money and then risk being snubbed by the government about signing the whizz kid. The process can only be gone through once the transfer is complete - and that also could impact the player. If Schaper is not granted a visa to play he would not have a club and be unable to move to any British team until he applies again - a year later. It is a troubling hurdle for all parties to face and Schaper is currently still at Blackburn until Chelsea decide whether to take the gamble with the bureaucratic system. Chelsea’s legal team are looking into the problem while Schaper continues to train and play for the Rovers academy. -

I don't get it either, it just seems certain players become scape goats for one reason or another. It's happened to players like Brittain and Travis in the past so make of that what you will. All this stuff about Hyam being "soft" and no heart quite frankly baffles me. He's been a good signing and a good servant -

It was this section on particular that interested me. Unfortunately though I don't believe the regulator will consider what's happening at our club sufficient to take any action. As long as the lights are kept on and the bills paid they'll be happy. -

If it's true he turned down Birmingham then it's pretty obvious money is not the most important thing to him at this stage of his career. If that's the case, then we may have a chance because if and when he's fit he would more than likely be first choice even at 35
