  1. This is our best lineup, imo, and proof that TM reads brfcs, LoL
  2. Our reasonably healthy squad, with 9 pts in the last 12, on the road vs a suddenly resurgent team with new manager. If it turns out, this is probably a good test for Rovers. We are in a much better place than we were two months ago, vs Luton. I have high expectations at Stoke.
  3. I will drink what you’re having ?
  4. It seems as if some of you are more hip to see Mowbray sacked than a Rovers win. Give him the season. Superman isn’t out there, waiting for us to hire him. There is no one out there without a job that I would take over Mowbray right now. Anything can happen in sports; last night, my alma mater, Stephen F. Austin, beat #1 Duke at Cameron Indoor in hoops, where Blue Devils had not lost a non-conference game since 2000. Proud Lumberjack (1985 & 1987). Axe ‘em!
  5. If we win, we go top half of the table. That would be interesting; I can’t see the club firing a manager in the top half, and doing much better since he lost two of his best defenders vs QPR for extended periods.
  6. Buckley on, that’s actually kinda exciting well, crap
  7. Definitely not our team of the future, when Downing and Graham have to come in to get the goal that puts us back ahead
  8. We don’t need another recently promoted club to defeat us at home. I’m staying positive... Rovers, 2-1.
  9. Amen to this. I understand one win won’t change anyone’s mind. At least, wait until after Boxing Day to sack him. Nobody can work miracles on our defending sans Cunningham & Lenihan; give TM a bit of credit for having the right bodies earlier in the season when we had four clean-sheets out of five. Rovers had only allowed seven goals in the previous eight games when they both went out vs QPR. As far as the attack, it’s not great, but we’ve had two goals now in four of our last five. The time is not now. Mid-season managerial changes take time, even if you find the right guy, but generally, it’s just a caretaker until “Mr. Right” comes along, anyway.
  10. I for one will relish a late winner without speculating about Mowbray
  11. Jaap Stam is now available... does that excite anybody?
  12. Stuart, not sure about this, but is there a local group of businessmen that offered to buy all or part of the club? English football being what it is (not profitable) I cannot imagine any owner or group of potential owners not taking a valid offer seriously... especially an ownership that has not actually been to a Rovers game since 2014(?, I think that year is correct) I’m not saying be grateful for them; heaven knows I’ve never been happy about Jerry Jones owning the Cowboys- I’m just saying the club is still viable, and has sufficient financial backing until somebody better comes along that can inject some love (hopefully) into it.
  13. I am relatively new to Rovers fandom (since 2013), so I do not have a great deal of expertise on the subject. My first game to attend in person was the last time the Rovers won, vs Reading, only last month. But I am a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys, so that should say a lot about how I feel about interfering owners (Rovers & Cowboys had their last league championships the same season). I had a wonderful tour of Ewood Park last month, when my wife & I were in England. Jenny was our guide (she has worked for Rovers since 1996), and she was wonderful. She took us everywhere (including the 1875 Boardroom), and I am a bigger fan than before. During part of the tour, she stated, “you know, many of our fans don’t care for the owners”, to which I replied I knew that was true. She said they pay the bills, which amounts to £1 million/ month... just to keep the doors open and pay the employees (Rovers are understaffed, btw). I haven’t been there all my life, or have near the emotional or financial investment that many of you have. I haven’t attended hundreds of matches, or lived in the same community, experienced the highs of PL winning season, or witnessed the events of the club’s sale. But what I do understand is the love a fan has for their club, in spite of circumstances beyond their control. This is the only Blackburn Rovers we will ever have- we cannot allow an owner or even series or poor owners run us off from our beloved club. Especially one that pays the bills and stays out of the way of on-field decisions.
  14. I’m for giving Leutwiler a chance next week. Tony ought to be, too.
  15. We can play well apparently for a half a game, and then it all goes to pot. Poor strategy, imo, parking the bus that way, Tony.
  16. I’m laughing now, for sure!!
  17. I will say this; even though I voted to keep him now (& reassess at season’s end), even if Blackburn wins the next three, he still needs to be evaluated at the end of the season. The only thing that could change my mind is if he clearly loses the team. Who knows, after the next three, things could change, horribly for the worse; I sincerely doubt they will change appreciably for the better. Besides, our best chance of getting the manager we need will be then, not now. It might be Johnson, but let him start fresh.
  18. He deserves at least that much as a courtesy. Losing arguably our two best backs, it takes time to replace them. Besides, nobody worth his pay is going to come in at this point, without Cunningham & Lenihan, amd precious few who can score. Johnson? The club knows we’re teetering on the brink and things could turn into a hot mess (particularly, after our next three matches... I’m not seeing any wins, so I’m sure the “sack Mowbray” chant gets louder). I do not think they want to throw this mess at Johnson’s feet, it’s that simple.
  19. I just hope Rovers are competitive for this one. Keep it close late in the match, and hope Danny has legs enough to get us a leveler.
  20. The poll could have used more options. I voted “stay”, through the end of the season. Then, reassess.
  21. I’m relatively new to the game (a Texan, & Rovers fan for six plus years), so some of you who are more knowledgeable students of the game than myself, please tell me, what is Mowbray’s specialty? is he good at setting up his offense to score? is he good at devising defenses that keep other teams out? is he a great motivator, or evaluator of talent? Because I’m not seeing any of the above. I know the guy must have something going for him, as he got M’bro & WBA promoted, and then us, but what exactly does this guy do well?
