  1. I've been told from friend - who was told from within (a good 6-12 months ago mind you) that this was/is the plan exactly - that WBA stand with disability/VIP/media and hotel etc. Other plans mooted (apparently) were to turn the Darwen End into more of the showpiece side of Ewood (shop, bar, better decor). Mainly as you can see it from the road... also renovating and selling off the old primary school/carpark to include a Nandos/Subway/Petrol Station etc. Its not like we need the excess parking spaces. Takes longer to get out of Ewood nowadays with 11,000 fans then it did when we were getting 24,000-27,000 10 years ago.
  2. To be fair (this one occassion) it was an abysmal pass from Armstrong. Far to slow and behind him. Should have been in front of him to hit first time.
  3. Maybe we could sell one of our 2 defenders for peanuts to afford another non-goal scoring striker that transitions to play left wing?
  4. “I would prefer to control the game, my teams over 20 years have mainly controlled games, yet at this club we didn’t have the players, in my opinion, to control football matches so we had to find a way of trying to win to get out of the trouble that we were in." So by your logic Tone, you've been here for 17.5% of your career and in that time you've had SIX transfer windows. Yet we don't have good enough players and lose 3 on the spin playing your "controlled football". Turn that pointed finger around mate. Shit like this should be you signing your own P45... if anyone in the club was listening/not your best mate. Which they're not.
  5. I suppose a drift that takes 9 months can be classified as slow. ? We are still 4 points off last seasons total with 5 games to play. Best case scenario we beat it by what, 3-4 points? Likely scenario we equal it. That isn't good enough after the money he has spent and shows clear stagnation, not to mention abysmal football. If Mowbray stays, I genuinely fear we'll sell at least 1 of Armstrong, Lenihan or Travis, and lose Dack and Nyambe next June. Bennett and Gallagher will make 90 starting appearances combined, and Walton will be our big money signing. Time. To. Go.
  6. Those people worried that the next manager could leave us worse off next season. Tell me, what is worse off than relegation? As that is exactly where I think we'll be with Mowbray. Especially with this off-season of confusion. Add another Poll - where would Rovers finish next season if they kept Mowbray... my vote would be bottom 3. Anyone voting top 6 needs a psychology evaluation.
  7. Wonder how much Britt Assombalonga would cost if 'Boro went down... though it seems unless Wigan go on and win at least 3 of their last 5, they will go and whoever of Stoke, Boro, Hull and Huddersfield will survive by default.. which is a shame. I'd much rather wigan survive (somehow) this year and start next year in the Championship on -12 (god knows we will probably need the advantage!)
  8. We're in a position now where we know exactly what league we are going to be in next season... so any worries of "X is an option but not for the PL/CH" can go away. Karl Darlow seems like a no brainer to start with, also the like of Rudy Gestede, Lyle Taylor etc (players who have already departed clubs) should be ripe for taking. (Or at least reaching out to) ... Of course my first transfer business would be us getting stuffed off Cardiff and Mowbray waving goodbye.
  9. Imagine someone telling Mowbray that David Raya would be the starting GK for a team with a +40 goal difference, shoe in for goalkeeper of the year and possible/probably PL keeper next year... Makes me sick.
  10. Walton ?? Johnson ?? Smallwood ?? Samuel ?? MOWBRAY ?? (pretty much?)
  11. How many times have we been 2 goals behind, scored, and then conceded a 3rd within minutes? Happens far far FAR to often under Mowbray. The players have given up... with the fans were there today to let this management team exactly how we feel!
  12. Walton is a bigger pile of rubbish than the clean up after todays pubs reopening is going to be.
  13. Over the years, I've spoken to a lot of people who work/worked at Rovers, and Paul Lambert was easily the most detested and disliked manager by the staff we've ever* had, easily. Not to mention his "style" football rivalled paint drying for riveting enjoyment.
  14. Mowbray back to chatting absolute shite again I see. Playoffs are gone, I hope we stuff Leeds tomorrow and then we can lose the other 5 for all I care and see if we can get the change we desperately need.
  15. I've been on that train for 90% of the past 18 months. Unfortunately with a bizarre/reduced offseason coming up, there is 0% chance Mowbray goes this summer, even if we lose every remaining game.
  16. Not to mention we currently do not own a Championship competent GK, LB or 2nd CB going into next season...
  17. I felt I was generous with Lenihan and Travis... though I 100% believe both will make it there, and I wouldn't have shocked me if that's their destination sooner rather than later. That's the problem isn't it. We have 6-8 starting quality Championship players and the rest are basically poor for this league.
  18. Two full years back in the Championship got me thinking about our squad and the realistic shape it is it. Hypothetical - we sold every player at the end of this season, which league should they be playing in next season (including Walton and Adarabioyo) - based solely on next years ability (not potential). Is our squad mainly Championship, Premier League or League 1 quality? Here is my take... 27 in the squad - outlook for 2020/21 Premier League = 3 Lenihan, Travis, Adarabioyo* Top Championship = 4 Dack, Armstrong, Nyambe, Holtby Mid Championship = 2 Downing, Evans Low Championship = 3 Gallagher, Rothwell, Walton* Low Championship / League 1 = 6 Brereton, Rankin-Costello, Graham, Johnson, Bell, Williams League 1 = 9 Leutwiler, Samuel, Smallwood, Davenport, Bennett, Butterworth, Buckley, Chapman, Mulgrew Results: I would say that 2/3 (18 of 27) of our current squad is low Championship (at best), but mainly bang average L1 players. Of the other 9, one is a loan who will be gone, one is 36 years old, and one is injured - plus who is to say if Mowbs will resist selling off star academy products like a Nyambe or Travis (like he did Raya). Lots of our poor standard players are out of contract - which is a bonus... but do we trust the manager to replace with better? Now not every player in your squad will be high quality, I get that. But we really are lacking in depth of top Championship quality. I fear for our recruitment in such a quick/unique "summer" window will lead to a nose dive down the table next year. Do I give Mowbray praise for getting the most out of such a bang average squad this season? Or criticise him for it for it being so poor in depth. Thoughts?
  19. Why the fudge are we just handing money over to Smallwood, and Hart. Also on the Scholars... Brennan originally was offered a deal back in February (like the others who got announced today), but he was unhappy with the terms/years on the deal and feels he is deserving of what Isaac Whitehall got. At this point I wouldn't expect him to accept less than 3 years and a decent (pushing £1k a week) offer. The Leeds rumours only help his case. Enzo, I have no idea why is unsigned, but is probably more attributed to Lockdown.
  20. This should be well over... you know what that typically means. Great second half performance so far.
  21. Interesting that you would change the 3-2 @ United for a loss. It's crazy but totally true. A result that should be up there in our famous moments - along with the MGP 2005 game - is totally (justifiably) overshadowed by the season, owners and manager it was part of. The "We drew at Anfield and won at Old Trafford" quote kept that bell-end in a job for much longer than two heavy losses would have. In hindsight we did get relegated and losing those 4 points would also relegate us (even with a superb manager). However we may have survived the Best - Murphy - Etuhu - Orr - Portugal B - Berg - Appleton season the following year, and who knows what positives may have come.
