  1. Maybe it has, just reporting what Motherwell's fans think of him Vale Motherwell's man of the match vs Celtic - https://www.steelmenonline.co.uk/forums/topic/18841-motm-celtic-25-feb-2024/#comment-638158 Some Vale related comments from their forum "Once again I thought Vale showed up very well. He puts in a ton of work and looks decent on the ball as well. He took hell of a beating today but apparently the ref thought it was ok. Bevis also had a good game so between them for me but I’ll go with the much maligned Bevis." "I thought Vale was our best player. Tidy feet, held it up well and is forming a very good understanding with Bair. Our chances of winning the game ended with his substitution." "No issues with Vale being substituted. The guy had put in a shift and, as you say, been targetted for some rough treatment. He had run his race by that time. Our issue is we have no one else who can do what he can do." As an aside, Motherwell had a 17 year old midfielder playing for them who looks to have a very high ceiling. Lennon Miller, apparently being looked at by Rangers and Celtic. Looked a genuine future Premier League player for me.
  2. If they want to keep 3 CBs, there is the possibility of moving Wharton central (If McFadzean doesn't play), Hyam right and Koumetio/Chrisene left (assuming Hedges is not fit and Pickering plays left back/wing back).
  3. Just to depress us all on a Monday morning. Danns was decent, but not at the level Rovers needed at the time, but he was good enough to be a regular for Palace for a few seasons a couple of years after he left us https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/neil-danns/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/4108/plus/0?saison=&verein=873&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id= How times have changed 😞
  4. Looks a better player than Chrisene (not that hard), so probably ok as a squad player next season
  5. Gent as in Gentleman is how I have heard it pronounced (just depends on if those people are right I suppose)
  6. According to BBC (who are quite often wrong about these things) Vale will be playing as one of twin number 10s, and Motherwell playing much the same formation that Rovers currently do. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/68361368 Motherwell fans do seem to like Vale (and Gent), they view Vale as a pacey and hard working forward who presses well. Will be interesting to see how they both get on against one of the 2 decent teams North of the border
  7. I'm a bit of an optimist, but not enough of one to bring myself to post in the optimism thread 😉
  8. Swansea away next, followed by Millwall and Plymouth at home, all who are in and around us in the table and in no better form than we are, followed by Middlesbrough away, also in terrible form https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/championship/form-guide Genuinely think those next 4 league games could see us safe I am a bit of an optimist 😉
  9. Shame that he isn't warming the bench at the Dingledome,,, then he might get a splinter 😉
  10. Italy or Spain https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/february/23/watch-canaries-clash-on-roverstv-/
  11. We have done well against Norwich in recent times when we have pressed from the front, and we certainly have the front three to do that, so long as the midfield do not get overrun
  12. Normally not very accurate, no way on earth Dolan is only on £500/week (maybe he was when he first signed, but he signed a new contract 6 months after that once he had broken into the first team) The club have an annual wage bill in excess of £20M/season as per their latest accounts, the figures on those sort of sites seem massively under what they would be in reality
  13. Probably Gally, possibly Szmodics, both will be on somewhere between £15K and £20K/week Norwich in their last season of parachute payments, so can offer much higher wages
  14. Based on him getting 4 at Norwich, who are having a much better season than we are, I would guess at him, getting somewhere between 0 and 4 goals, which would seem like less than we would want for someone being paid somewhere between £20K-£30K/week https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ashley-barnes/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/63200/wettbewerb/GB2/saison/2023
  15. You did, 24 hour recall option
  16. Eustace had the same 2 assistants at Birmingham too, same set up here I guess
  17. JDT brought 2 with him Remy as his assistant, and Ben Rosen as a fitness coach (Rosen is off t the end of this month, presumably to wherever JDT ends up)
  18. I am not arguing that point, please see the final paragraph on my previous post that you replied to
  19. Maybe points rather than point, but here you go - Just because someone plays wide, does not mean that they are (or have to be) a winger - Wingers are used fairly seldom in todays game (although these things are cyclical, and I am sure that they will come back in vouge, but the current trend is to try to dominate centrally almost at the expense of wide areas) - Most players who we would probably see as having the skillset of a natural winger are these days used elsewhere on the field (ie full back/wing back) Before anyone says that we should or shouldn't be playing wingers, I am not making the argument about what Rovers (or any other team) should or should not be doing, just describing what they are currently doing
  20. I think you have missed my point
  21. Hilton gone on loan to Macclesfield for the rest of the season (Where Robbie Savage is their Director of Football) https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/february/23/joe-joins-macclesfield-on-loan/ Strangely they will be going head to head with Hyde (who have Eastham in goal for them for the rest of the season) for a play off spot/promotion, and Marine who had yet another of our keepers on loan earlier in the season (Goddard) before he was injured (Saadi also had a spell at Marine earlier this season) https://www.thenpl.co.uk/match-info/tables Former Rover Willem Tomlinson also in the promotion race there, he is currently at runaway leaders Radcliffe
  22. I genuinely thought that was a wind up, massive loss to QPR, but if accusations are true, then what a scumbag to do something like that Edit - According to this he has been sentenced but not locked up, is still in the UK, appealing the verdict, and available to play for QPR apparently https://talksport.com/football/1761378/qpr-ilias-chair-prison-assault-truck-driver/
  23. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/24107501.good-profit-plus-debt-reduced-watford-face-tricky-times/#:~:text=Looking ahead%2C though%2C Watford will,to become more self-sufficient. "Looking ahead, though, Watford will need to generate more money as there will be no Premier League parachute payment for the 24/25 season so, unless they were to be promoted, they would have to become more self-sufficient." The same would apply to Norwich as they were (like Watford) promoted to the Prem for only one season
