  1. Elliott Jackson piece about loans in the LT Blackburn Rovers are expected to loan Leo Duru this month with interest gathering in the English Football League and abroad, The Lancashire Telegraph can reveal. The right-back remained at Ewood Park after impressing in pre-season. He made his Championship debut in the dying minutes at Turf Moor and started in the Carabao Cup defeat to Blackpool. But with John Eustace keen to bolster his squad with new signings, a loan move is likely for Duru in January. That might not be until later this month to protect against injuries but clubs have lodged their interest. Carlisle United and Barrow are two teams that tracked Duru in the summer and would still be keen to sign the right-back. Clubs in Major League Soccer have also been linked in the USA Under-20 international. There could be further movement in the loan department this month. Jake Garrett is likely to head to a new club after being recalled from his spell at Bristol Rovers. The midfielder struggled for game time after a decent start with the Gas. He returned to Rovers last week but is expected to go back on loan or experience. Garrett can't play for Rovers this weekend against Middlesbrough in The FA Cup, unless he is staying for the rest of the season. Rules state a player can only play competitively for two teams per season. Connor O'Riordan is also expected to return to Blackburn Rovers at some stage this month. Like Garrett, he has barely played at Cambridge United. It would make little sense for him to remain with the League One relegation battlers. Talks internally about Dilan Markanday remain ongoing. The forward's most likely option, at this stage, is to stay at Chesterfield until the summer. It's understood that if Rovers did recall Markanday, it would be with the view of sending him out on loan into League One to test him at a higher level. The 22-year-old is settled and happy at Chesterfield though, having expressed his desire publicly to remain with the Spireites. Harrison Wood is likely to return from Annan Athletic after is minutes dried up. Charlie Olson's loan at Altrincham has been extended until the end of the season.
  2. Olson's loan extended until end of season
  3. You presume correctly, same applies to Markanday Garrett O'Riordan Markanday Batty is cup tied though
  4. Cuts, yes, but they had a much higher budget than Rovers before the cuts (as they were still receiving parachute payments at that time), and still have a higher budget than Rovers now. As their cuts have basically brought them in line with "normal" larger * (average attendance circa 25K) Championship clubs I would think that West Broms budget after their cuts is still higher than what Rovers budget was before any cuts were made * Larger in terms of current attendance, not based on history etc
  5. I've just added to my original post, apparently 80K euros Scoring goals in U19s is like the kids Rovers have had who tore up the U18s and then struggled to make the step up to U21s. Like Nsangou who left in the summer
  6. Pretty sure I saw Mafoumbi was a free (although the link I posted below says he was €80K), I thought he was out of contract in France and so wouldn't have needed compensation as he moved countries. Similar to how Rovers wouldn't get any compensation for Dolan if he moves overseas despite his age. Thank being said, Mafoumbi looks lost as a central striker, even at U21 level, but looked better on the left cutting inside on his right, like Brereton. He does seem to have disappeared in the past couple of months though, possibly injured, as Rovers do not report much on injuries for U21s & U18s unless they are long term edit - He has scored one in the cup competitions, and yes I think he does take up an ESC spot https://www.playmakerstats.com/player/exaucee-mafoumbi/1009406
  7. I always think that Dewsbury-Hall has a name that sounds like he should have been in Trumpton, Although he missed the cut off point by 30 odd years
  8. Todays games Vale came off the bench for the last 20 odd minutes for Motherwell as they won 2-0 Chesterfields game (Markanday) postponed
  9. centre back, but can fill in at right back
  10. That loan seems to have done him the power of good, Gamble (who was ahead of him during pre season judging by him being selected in friendlies) has gone to Fylde (towards the bottom of the same tier as Olson) and not really been anything more than back up/squad player
  11. Starts today for Olson won 3-1 Powell lost 2-0 Honor won 3-1 Saadi won 3-0 On the bench Batty won 2-0 - First time in over a month that he has been in a match day squad since a knee injury Edmondson won 3-1 - Looks like Edmondson was just rested, Savage mentioned in this interview that Macclesfield are in talks with Rovers to extend his loan Not involved in matchday squad (possible that some of these loans may have ended but not yet seen confirmation) O'Riordan lost 1-0 Wood drew 1-1 Mullarkey-Matthews lost 2-0 Ramwell won 4-2 Game postponed Gamble Eastham No game until next weekend Atcheson & Montgomery Play tomorrow Vale Markanday
  12. Possibly. JDT seemed to have him pegged as a poor mans Szmodics. I think either of those roles could work for him, but not so much the Tronstad role sitting/screening role in front of the defence
  13. Its from AI, so it will have pulled numbers from across the internet, sites like Capology ect, and amalgamated them. All of those type of sites are guesses, but the ordering doesn't look too far out at first glance to me, although I would have thought Oxford & Plymouth would have been 23 & 24 on the payroll order
  14. Probably (and hopefully) right. They no longer have parachute payments, and if I remember correctly, they had to cut the wage bill a bit during the summer to stay compliant. That being said, if I was the West Brom owner/etc, Eustace would be exactly who I would go for. Has proven at both Rovers and Birmingham that he can do a similar job to Corberan and get the maximum output from a relatively limited group of players. And even though West Brom have had a drop in income recently, they surely still have more than Rovers do
  15. Starts today for Markanday lost 2-1 Edmondson won 5-2 Eastham won 2-0 On the bench Atcheson won 2-0 Not involved in matchday squad Garrett lost 3-2 O'Riordan lost 3-1 Batty won 3-2 Montgomery won 2-0 Mullarkey-Matthews lost 3-1 Ramwell lost 2-0 Game postponed Olson Gamble Powell Honor Play tomorrow Vale came off the bench for the last 15 minutes in a 1-0 loss In regards to loans ending. Not seen any announcements of recalls yet, but I think we all expect Garrett and O'Riordan to have their loans ended. Gambles minutes have dried up in recent weeks too. I think both Batty & Montgomery have been injured for the past month which explains their recent absences. Below is a list of players whose loans will end during January as things stand. "January" but exact date unspecified Atcheson & Montgomery - Atcheson named in Marine's squad today, so his loan is still currently active Eastham - named in Ashton's squad today, so his loan is still currently active Wood Mullarkey-Matthews 4th Jan Olson Ramwell 8th Jan Edmondson 22nd Jan Powell
  16. Starts today for Markanday - lost 2-1 Not involved in matchday squad Vale - drew 2-2 Garrett - lost 3-0 O'Riordan - lost 2-0 Batty - lost 2-1
  17. following an internal investigation into claims that items belonging to his team-mates had gone missing from the training ground dressing room, he has since been suspended by the club and told he will never play for Rovers again. I would assume that those team mates were from the Rovers U21 team at the time, so not even the expensive gear that the first teamers may have had, kind of makes it even worse to me
  18. If Stoke were relegated, it would enable them to reset and rebuild without Championship FFP rules in the same way that Ipswich and Birmingham have done. FFP rules in League one are based on income, not profit and loss, so relegation can be the best option now for any medium or large sized club who have owners who are willing and able to pump money into player purchases
  19. Starts today for Markanday lost 2-0 Olson drew 0-0 Powell game abandoned at half time whilst losing 1-0 Atcheson lost 3-2 Edmondson lost 2-1 Eastham game abandoned whilst winning 3-0 Honor lost 2-1 On the bench Garrett lost 3-1 Gamble lost 3-1 Not involved in matchday squad Vale lost 4-0 O'Riordan lost 2-1 Montgomery lost 3-2 Mullarkey-Matthews lost 3-2 Ramwell lost 5-1 Game postponed Batty Saturday 28th Dec Wood not involved for Annan who drew 1-1 Woods loan has been a strange one. Appeared in the first 6 games of the season in league and cup, scoring his first senior goal, then had 2 games as an unused sub, and I do not think he has not been seen or heard from since early October. Maybe an injury, maybe frozen out/completely out of favour, I think his loan expires after this game.
