I had my doubts at the start, then he had a good run of form leading up to lockdown. After lockdown the wheels feel off and seemed to lose more and more confidence with each game. I think there is a decent keeper there but not ready for regular 1st team football at championship football. He has no chance of becoming 1st chocie at Brighton next year.

Would you agree though that whilst I agree Brereton has been poor but up until lockdown in my opinon but since the season restarted he has looked a lot stronger on the ball, made some good runs and at least has potential to push on next season?

Whilst I agree he doesn't have the vision of Tugay but lets be honest who does that we could afford? He does have great vision, quick feet and could do a good job for us there.

He could play the Tugay role sitting in front of the back 4. He probably has more pace than Tugay had at 36. Like Tugay, Downing rarely loses possession and would definitely have another season in him in that role maybe 2!
