  1. Brereton didn't have a natural position at Forest. He played CF in his first year and deeper in his second. Playing 1 or 2 up front means we don't really need a fifth striker, which Brereton is. In a 3-4-1-2, because Travis and Evans are a 2, not part of a three, Armstrong and Gallagher have to be the two up front, with Brereton in behind. Neither Rothwell nor Holtby has established himself as Dack's cover and Brereton does have a beard of the correct colour.Every report I read on Buckley says to me that he needs to bulk up and work on his upper body strength. Davenport? I had to check the team sheets to see that he played against Fleetwood.
  2. Wouldn't have been allowed to leave Belgium, if it hadn't.
  3. Why? Reports suggested everything had been sorted out, before he left Belgium.
  4. @Tugayisgod wrote:Happy 50th birthday Tugay, Rovers legend. Thanks for the memories. ?? Imagine our players learning how to pass from Tugay.
  5. Can't imagine Mowbray just holding a press conference to only do that, but, hey, it's Mowbray. I was expecting Sharpe to ask the question 'Do you now have clarity on the budget?' I guess I was expecting too much from Rich Sharpe. When we use 'we', we mean Blackburn Rovers. When you use 'we', you mean some other team. Okay, glad we got that sorted.
  6. Fake news alert: another one saying people have demanded to know what the budget is,constantly. I'm not sure how Klopp would know Blackburn Rovers has £150m to spend. I know Ahsan Ali Syed pledged to invest £300m into Blackburn Rovers football club that he didn't have and subsequently bankrupted a Spanish club. Now an upset Bruce announcing he;'s only 20m to spend is something I can envisage. Of course not! Since Mowbray said he didn't have clarity on the budget, I and others would like Mowbray to make an announcement when he has clarity on the budget. We're not goingto have to pull a Charlton and occupy Ewood Park to find out if Mowbray has clarity, are we?
  7. Quite possible it's just misdirection.Club does like everyone else being in the dark about our targets. Kipre and Cunningham would be cheaper alternatives to those I'm about to suggest. I can't really see Cardiff letting us have Cunningham for free. Suppose and I say suppose we signed the following players on what they were on before: Westwood GK(30kpw), Brad Smith LB(25kpw, Van Der Hoorn (R)CB(15kpw) and Ayala (L)CB (25kpw) and throw in Kaminiski on say 12kpw and that's our wage saving eliminated and a new centre back partnership. Obviously, we couldn't bring in Martin (CF), assuming we wanted to, without lowering those wages by at least a third. We might get Schmidt for £500k, though I doubt it. We could fund Whiteman (£2m) by selling Williams to one of DC United or LA Galaxy who were rumoured to be ready to put a bid in back in March this year. I don't think I''ll get any support for Williams being sold for £2M. So Whiteman will stay a Mowbray dream. Hopefully, Kaminski passes his medical.
  8. Agree with you in the main. I don't expect Magloire and Grayson to feature in the squad, though I'd like them kept in the U23s to be there, if needed. I've been impressed by reports I've read of Lewis Thompson. @SB & Blue Unfortunately, only three of the ones you list play for us. We have Community Centre Ben, Colne have Chris Kirkland. I know who'd I'd rather have.
  9. I'd choose Bennett as I'd like to witness life without him. Unfortunately no-one in their right mind would offer 10m for him, unless it's Zimbabwean dollars.I'm convinced Mowbray has taken the 'not selling anyone' position.
  10. Why are you still going on about Platt and his transfer fee? I've already written that I believe it's 'gone' and is not available to help fund transfers in. I've never said that Venkys state how much the transfer budget is going to be, aside from that statement when they took us over. The ticket office in their letter to @arbitro described us as ';cash strapped'. On that basis, I don't believe there is a transfer budget or money to fund loans. I wrote 'to pay bills' not to 'fund transfers. I've not seen anything to indicate that Mowbray has had to sell anyone to pay a bill or fund a transfer or loan. @RuaneyWe go for weeks without signing anyone, despite rumours of talks and bids. Then we have some extra sponsorship money and have a bid accepted. I think it reasonable to conclude that there's a connection. Despite you and @islander200 not knowing how much Totally Wicked pay in sponsorship, announce that it's impossible for them to have funded a transfer. Now,I don't believe that the State Bank of India agreed to extend their overdraft facility to the club in January of this year. I believe that far from paying off the overdraft, Venkys ran it up. I believe that the Bank is now in the same position as Barclays were and have cut off borrowings and called the whole sum due, immediately. I don't believe they've initiated liquidation proceedings, yet. I don't believe we have alternative sources of borrowing or that Venkys does either, from what @phili has written. Now may regard that what I have written is 'tosh'; It is however my opinion. It is my right to express an opinion without having it dismissed as 'tosh', 'ridiculous' or 'rubbish'. I'm sure the club hopes to make sponsors of all the companies it is talking with.It is my opinion that money raised will be used to fund transfer/loan activity, because there's no other source.
  11. No one has ever argued that Venkys should say what the transfer budget is; though they did say on talking us over that it would £5m a transfer window.Maybe waiting on money from sell-on clauses that haven't triggered yet. I don't know. We got something for Platt as it was undisclosed, not free transfer. I said it was unlikely we got £500k for him. I have no idea if any of that money however small was available for use in transfers. Sharpe said that the club had told him bids were in. He offered no independent corroboration. Your 'numerous others' are posters of similar ilk to yourself. I'm not clutching at straws nor is it ridiculous to suggest there's a connection between Totally Wicked increasing their sponsorship and putting in an accepted bid. Of course, if you know how much Totally Wicked pay in sponsorship, your statement would then have credibility. Selling a player to pay a bill is what Blackburn Rovers have done.
  12. Do you? I think it's more than coincidence that extra sponsorship is announced and we sign(hopefully completed) a player.
  13. Didn't have the money until that extra sponsorship came in.
  14. We wouldn't pay Westwood half that.Would offer him the chance to be number 1. Competition throughout the squad for places is Mowbray's oft stated aim. Both keepers have something to prove. I think we've already got league one/two/obscurity covered. I don't know, securing a goalkeeper for £500k, would be a payoff and secure the european scouting network,in my eyes.
  15. Where's the £500k come from? It was reported that Totally Wicked had increased their sponsorship. That's where I think the money has come from. Or Barrow paid £500 for Platt, which seems unlikely. Westwood's the other goalie mentioned. He's out of favour at Wednesday and is wanted off their books. We ought to be able to get him on a free. I've not seen any reports of any announcement form Venkys. I suppose it can be left until monthly payroll is due, whenever that is.
  16. You wrote There's this thing called Covid 19 which is causing some issues. Are you trying to claim it's only caused us some issues?
  17. It hasn't stopped other owners from opening their chequebooks, now has it?
  18. Frank and company will fix that going forward.Frank underestimated Scott Parker.
  19. Yes. Still had to hit the target. Scott Parker had him practice until he'd nailed it again and again. Parker did a fantastic job preparing for that game.
  20. Raya was beaten by a wonderstrike of a free kick from 40 odd yards out and from close range after Fulham 1-2ed their way through the heart of the defence. Brentford managed to pull a goal back. Going forward Raya will adjust where he stands for free kicks and Goode was brought in to stop people doing the waltz. Brentford addressing their needs. Have we addressed any of ours?
  21. Mowbray has lost in the Championship Final as manager of West Brom. So he has blown it, by your reckoning. Won the division the season after, a feat I tip Brentford to repeat. His Middlesborough sides never made it into the playoffs. I see nothing to indicate that we will finish high enough to worry about Mowbray blowing it.
  22. I have the opposite opinion on this. Brereton never did anything for Forest. Gallagher scored enough goals playing centrally under Coyle. I'd hazard a guess that all 6 of his goals were scored inside the penalty area, which is where he must play. I do agree that the way Mowbray used him here on loan and still does, he wasn't worth £5m and still isn't..
