  1. I've wasted more than enough time on you. The only right back Mowbray would have considered was Christie on loan from Fulham. Swansea built a team around loanees who got them to the playoffs. Mowbray's going for defenders. His teams have never had a defence that didn't leak and that includes West Brom.
  2. Mowbray said: “I like Barnsley, they’re a good team, they’ve got an identity, they play with a lot of intensity, extremely good out of possession. (taken from article in Lancashire Telegraph) Everything after 'good team' is what we're not.
  3. I took the names from your first response to @Ewood Ace and listed the names you gave him. You gave him 2 'names' and 3 'probables'. You did not reply to the question you were asked. Your subsequent naming of 6 left out Connors because @Ewood Ace said he didn't rate him. Just because another poster doesn't rate one of your choices, doesn't mean you have to drop your support for him.
  4. The reference to Raya was general, not specific. All goalkeepers have moments they'd rather forget caught forever on camera. Brentford's fans wont forget his howler that caused their team to concede the first goal against Fulham in last season's playoff final. Since he was the goalkeeper of the Championship last season, they may come to forgive him. I think is to have better coaching. Nyambe did 1 on 1 with Lowe and benefitted. That should be a feature of all training sessions. It doesn't appear like that is happening.
  5. Travis, Davenport and Rothwell's best position is central midfield. Were that the team and formation, I'd make Rothwell a free player with license to roam all over the pitch. Playing 2 out and out wingers is fine, if that's what they do. Dack won't get match fit without minutes on the pitch. i see 4-2-3-1 as suiting Travis and Dack better than 4-3-3. Mowbray's had Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to drill the back four.
  6. Raya was not a liability. No, I don't regard Nyambe, Travis and Davenport as prospects. in need of further development, yes. @parsonblue asked the question with qualifiers. To @Ewood Ace you named Arrons, Connors, Byrne, Romeo and Brittains. That's 5 names, not six and you're double counting 3.
  7. Yes, you named 6 right back you believe are better than Nyambe. You misunderstood the question. There was a qualifier attached to restrict the names to those that we could afford to bring in on our current budget. I think you would push the financial boat a little further to bring in one of the 6 you named. Nyambe would have real competition in a football sense.
  8. The question asked was for you to name 6 right backs who are better than Nyambe, are within our budget and for whom a transfer could have been done(that's implied). I agree with you that Nyambe's crossing is not what you'd expect, especially considering Downing's been here a year and a half. The U23's Pike's highly touted and the club has a 12 month option on Nyambe. I agree with you about the resources being available. I think that Branthwaite and THB were both signed as cover primarily for Lenihan who has a history of injuries at this time of the year. Signing a player was sensible precaution. Signing two loanees who have to play every week, wasn't. Whilst Venkys can absorb the financial hit, if they don't, it would come under another demand that they hadn't budgeted for at this time. Mowbray certainly won't let anyone leave that he likes. Williams could have gone for a fee in the summer and Mowbray wouldn't let him go. Now Williams is "injured". Like under Coyle, Evans is "injured", except during international breaks. Johnson doesn't see eye-to-eye with Mowbray and he's "injured". Frankly, the number of first team players injured beggars belief. Venkys have twice failed to make this club self-sustaining in the Championship. Very few clubs are self-sustaining. Those that are balancing their budget have to sell players every year. Their recruitment departments have finding replacing those players as their top priority. @arbitrothat they haven't kicked on is why they are still here. You could tell in Mowbray's interview out in India that developing players to sell is not a business model he approves of. it was all in the tone. Signing both Armstrong and Nyambe to long term contract say 2024 would show intent to develop and sell. Neither Gallagher nor Brereton have been developed to even reflect their transfer feees.
  9. It's not hope. I expect Venkys to want to spend the money, because that's what any other club with ambition would do. Were it my choice, it is one I would make.
  10. It's exactly the question and yes, he is. Venkys certainly have the finance, if that's their decision to spend it.
  11. I suggest you ask Mark Hughes who is on his team. Do I look like your personal assistant? I read an article many years ago. I found the sum amusing. You're more than welcome to do your own research.
  12. We have had Kaminski, Nyambe, Lenihan and Douglas since the near the beginning of the season Why did they look like they'd never played together against Preston? Yes, we or rather Venkys, do have the finances for a Pearson or a Hughes. Mowbray looked like he was finished, last Friday.
  13. Thanks for the information @chaddyrovers and the clarifications provided, especially Crooke's upcoming conversation with Waggott. Is there a released date as to when that conversation will happen? I don't see Sharpe's Stagnation article as having any leaks in there. I'm pleased to see that you don't see the club thinking that it is contentious in any way. The assumption I make with regards to Venkys is that the status quo is approved automatically, any proposed change needs approval. I'd think it unusual, if there wasn't change in the staffing at those levels. People want to advance their careers. I would think that the urgency with which the pitch needs replacing would not have been realised. Mowbray's had the team training on the pitch for several weeks, now. That didn't do the pitch any favours.
  14. I read that Pasha had been withdrawn in the LT. Yeah, gullible me. Yeah, I take those Waggott rumours with a large grain of salt. Distraction tactics. Yes, I know that Cheston et al are still here. Why do you think Sharpe's article appeared later than usual after a match? Does Mrs Desai make funding decisions alone or after consultation? It's not clear from what you said. 'Major' implies discussion; the rest of your sentence implies sole decision making. Venkys may have planned on making changes to the U23s and U18s in the summer that would now be brought forward. Oh, showing the state f the pitch live on Sky forced their hand. Can't say I've seen evidence that Venkys want promotion. A left back sent back to the club he came from and a couple of loanees. No cash splashed out on bringing in a bigger name (relatively speaking). After Brereton and Gallagher, I can't say that is a surprise. Yes, I am well aware that Venkys London Limited is the immediate source of our funding. To clarify, all the loans outstanding against the Venkys Group are held by the State Bank of India.
  15. Who knows? I thought Pasha had withdrawn from day-to-day activity at Rovers. Waggott is said to be considering his position. I have no idea how true that is. I suspect that Sharpe's article was late because he was waiting for the nod from the club. It was certainly a shot across the bows, to get in another cliche. In India, I assume, but don't know, that Mr Balaji Rao likes Mowbray and supports him still. The others seem to be prepared to indulge Mr Balaji Rao's enthusiams' a little longer. Considering they've liquidated every other 'enthusiasm', we're either the exception that proves the rule or destined for the chop. I think we're exceptional. Perhaps the Barnsley game is a must win for Mowbray. Previously, when he's needed a result, he has got it. Even were the Board to recommend that Mowbray, Venus, Lowe and Benson did get the chop, that's no guarantee that Mrs Desai would sanction it or that any change would be limited to those 4. The first team train with the U23s , so there would be coaches present. Venkys have been forced to spend money on the pitch. That counts as rocking the boat. We're back in their view, under their scrutiny. Do Venkys want promotion this season or not? Venkys would have to consult to take into account the views of their investors and the State Bank of India that holds all of their loans. One thing is for sure and that is that those in the know (and I don't, just to be clear) will not say anything until the matter is resolved one way or another.
  16. Neither will I. PNE aren't going to give permission for Neil to go anywhere.
  17. Have the squad train on the pitch for weeks, so it cuts up and then have it shown in such a poor state live on Sky and the Raos ie Venkys have no choice but to cough up £2m for a new playing surface. The saving face thing. Mowbray putting one over on the Raos.
  18. Yet, here you are trying to curtail discussion and debate. Transfer window threads grow til it becomes a game of how may pages it will be before something happens. Mowbray does know all the tricks in the book. Like you popping in here. Mowbray talks Rovers down. There are teams we "just" can't compete with ... financially. We're a smaller club than Stoke .. apparently. I thought our ground's bigger. Full control over all football matters, deciding who to bring in on transfers. No, no manager's going to want that. Have to stress the arduous trip to Pune every year for budget discussions weeks after clubs that actually want to do early business have decided on their budgets. Mowbray will have a successor and I hope this thread helps make that sooner rather than later.
  19. Touche. Venkys seem to have a limit of £1m on a manager's wages. £2m on a manager team clearout.
  20. 'Everyone know' Sparky and his team don't get out of bed for less than £5m. I can't see Venkys throwing that kind of money at a manager. Pearson and Wagner are managers who have got a team promoted to the Premier League. Frank Lampard almost did in his first year as a manager. I though Frank did a good job at Chelsea. The regime at Chelsea is the polar opposite of the regime here. I'd overlooked the need for a manager who has a promotion from the Championship on his CV. The thing is that Venkys have options, alternatives to Mowbray and promotion is still possible with a new manager. Delay makes that goal less attainable.
  21. How many times this season has Mowbray used the refrain 'That wasn't how we play'? Was that the third time he's said it? Mowbray's masterstroke to play Gallagher at RB for 5 minutes. His last game at Celtic he put his most creative player at LB. Mowbray's blaming the players for him getting the game plan wrong. Mowbray used Nyambe as a scapegoat, like he used to use Raya. The man who claimed that he brings honesty, humility and integrity to a club. Saying it isn't humble, honest or showing any integrity. Mowbray and waggott will tell our owners that it's only a small minority of fans venting after a defeat. it'll all blow over in a few days and anyhow, Mowbray's up for manager of the month, so his peers value what he's doing at our Club. He's worked wonders at the club )(yes, he's turned a good squad into a team you wouldn't want to put up against a Sunday pub league side). We're only 7 points off the playoffs (an almost replica of the previous two seasons - will Venkys see the pattern?) with a game in hand (high flying Swansea). They'll expect Venkys to lap it up. Why not? Venkys have in the past. It's like Mowbray and Waggott are playing a shell game. Where is promotion, nobody knows? Or a very bad case of the Emperor's New Clothes.
  22. Unlike Wells Fargo there are no chasing Indians pressuring the driver to get the most out of the team.
  23. I think there might be quite a few on here willing to volunteer to tie up the squad, literally. At least then you'd be sure they were in their correct places. Dack's returned from a serious injury. You know he isn't match fit. You plan to take 3-4 games to build him up to a full match. You know you're going to substitute him. Having to play all your loanees every week is disruptive to the squad. Trybull would have to be played, if fit, too. I'd want someone with nous and experience pulling the strings in midfield like Downing. I like the spine Kaminski-Lenihan-Travis-Dack-Armstrong. Dolan and Elliott either side of Dack. A back four of Douglas Branthwaite/THB and Nyambe. Currently 2 enforced substitutions. Set up to be on the front foot. Probably Rothwell for Dack. Why would Rothwell and Nyambe want to return? I am sure being substituted most weeks for non-footballing reasons is not building Nyambe's character. The squad will break up at the end of the season unless given a reason to want to stick around. The playoffs aren't within reach with Mowbray as manager. Shaking up the squad is what is needed. Now. A change of manager is what is needed.
