  1. I haven't checked Hughes' record as manager, but I suspect you're gaslighting him. Hughes acknowledged that he shouldn't have walked away from Fulham. I think he'll still see himself as an ambitious manager. Take a gander at the top five teams in our division. None of their managers had managed in English league football before taking up their appointments. Wolves brought in a manager from Portugal, got promoted and have been there ever since. Leeds went and sourced Bielsa, a top manager whom nobody would have thought would be interested in our Championship. Your view of the Championship is outdated. Mark Hughes wants a club whose owners' ambition matches his own. Do you think our owners ambition matches his?
  2. You are correct. looking at the history of games Coventry beat us 1-0 in a replay in 2009. We've played 38 times; Coventry lead the series 17:15.
  3. You are correct. 3rd round FA Cup 2008: 4-1 drubbing at home. I feel a similar scoreline is coming tomorrow (that's a guarantee it won't! Mercer should back the scoreline, just to be on the safeside.)
  4. Not sure what point that was. He never looked like he was trying to prove a point. Always said we weren't in a relegation battle, even though we were. Mowbray's gone from suits to tracksuit on the sidelines. Should have kept the same tracksuit top with the initials OC on them. We're as Off Course now, as much as we always were under the 'outstanding candidate'.
  5. Even the blemishes on Hughes' CV can't hide the fact that he kept both QPR and Southampton up. Whether he'd have done so again, we'll never know. He's had the time to recharge his batteries. That has to be positive. We aren't going to get a manager with no blemishes on his CV. Venkys haven't recruited a manager who was currently a manager at another club. I don't see that changing this time. @joey_big_noseThat's the sense I get, too. That Hughes has something to prove. I was surprised Hughes took the QPR job. I reckoned that QPR side had more ego than talent. So, yes, I can see Hughes 'stepping down' to the Championship - we were the team he did it for as a player - and sticking at it.
  6. McCarthy was focussed on keeping Ipswich in the Championship. Cardiff represents an opportunity to show what he can do. I don't know where this idea comes from that Hughes thinks he's above this level or wouldn't be motivated comes from. When we appointed Hughes, he was manager of Wales. He'd never managed in the Premier League. I don't doubt that he'd be motivated to get us promoted back to the Premier League.
  7. I think that's what people said about Mick McCarthy and Warnock. It's said about Pearson, too, to a lesser extent. Bristol City couldn't win and Pearson wins in his first match in charge. That's the turnaround we need. Whatever the result of tonight's game, we'll be 16th come 10pm. We could find ourselves level on points with Huddersfield and only 2 points ahead of Coventry. I think Venkys can leave the CEO position vacant until the summer. There's Cheston who could take on the responsibilities of the job and it's not like it carries any real weight, anyway.
  8. Thanks for the correction. Mowbray's mentioned the need for ''men, not boys", so I'm wondering how we ended up with two inexperienced young'uns in the centre of our defence.
  9. That Hughes is interested in coming back and that Venkys are negotiating with him. As I have said, I hope that's true. I've not read the tweet that another poster mentioned on here.
  10. @BlueBloodThe 5 we've just lost were all winnable. You made the point that the teams below us are all scrapping for points and that we've no fight in us. That equals relegation.
  11. The facebook crowd prove you can fool some of the people all of the time. Nobody posting on here during the game said that we 'played really well'. @chaddyroversargues that a new appointment is needed now and I agree. I saw a poster say we appointed Souness with 15 games to go in a season and he got us promoted. It can happen, again. I hope the rumours of negotiations with Hughes are true and near fruition. I think Venkys need to focus on one target and build a management team around him and I hope that's what they are doing. Relying on Venkys to do the right thing is a very unusual place to be. I believe Venkys will act in a timely fashion, this time. I have faith.
  12. I never wrote that. I never suggested that Cooper told his players to go out and lose. Obviously, it wasn't Cooper's last game in charge, so that wasn't the reason for their collective funk. You've told me what I should know, which is synonymous with thinking. To return to the topic of this thread, I asked you when you think Mowbray and co will go after tonight's defeat?
  13. You've been very free telling me what I should or shouldn't think. Perhaps you'd care to tell me what it was that I was implying. Better yet, use your telepathic powers to tell us all when Mowbray and co are going to darken our club no more with their presence.
  14. I posed a question. I did not make a statement. The answer to the question I posed is that Cooper isn't getting himself fired for anyone or on anybody's orders. He's clearly not resigning, either. Whether HSH want him to come here is entirely another matter.
  15. I didn't say Cooper was getting himself fired, either.. I imagine he was fuming getting beaten 4-1 after conceding only 15 in all the matches before. Swansea won again tonight and didn't concede. Normal service resumed as far as he's concerned, I would imagine..
  16. I am relieved you want Mowbray gone. I never suggested Rovers players deliberately set out to lose against Forest
  17. If Mowbray doesn't walk, he and his mates have to be fired. I don't see us winning another game under Mowbray and co. Without fans around the ground, it's not possible to determine just how toxid things really are.
  18. Of course it does. Mowbray has now equalled our worst run since Venkys took over. You should know that invites comparisons.
  19. The last time we lost 5 on the trot was under Steve K--n. Seems perfectly legitimate to compare the two.
  20. Davenport has a groin injuiry?. Sure it wasn't a groan injury on seeing the team sheet?
