Oh I get it now Richard.

So it’s those against ‘the 12/15’ dismantling the entire structure of a 150 years of European football to ensure said clubs have unfettered access to billions of pounds, that are acting in self interest.

Cheers for clearing it up, I couldn’t see the wood for the trees before...

Glad to have cleared that up for you. Football's changed a great deal over the last 150 years.

  2. @Mike EWe've won the Intertoto cup, too!

The terminology - cynical greed = profit. Profit isn't a word used about too many football clubs. Without clubs making money there are no clubs.

Football league  - nothing to do with them

Football association - I don't know the rules, but I doubt there's anything to prevent clubs joining a new league as the premier league is precedent

UEFA - in 2016 proposed a closed Champions League format with 16 clubs. Their opposition now reeks of hypocrisy. Deal with national federations not individual clubs except through tournaments the clubs apply to join.

FIFA - want to expand the World Club competition.  Deal with national federations not clubs

If FIFA and UEFA ban the best 500 players in the world, expect legal challenges from national federations who will select these players.

Premier League if it tries to expel clubs based on rule 9 it can expect a legal fight. There's also the clause about competitions sanctioned by County Associations that our clubs belong to. The European Super league could offer substantially more money to these county associations than currently trickles down.

Enormous self-interest on the part of those against it.

There will be a similar competition for women.

Yes they have bottled it cos it wont go ahead. As Neville said it wont.

I know what the plan was Richard for hours thanks.

Did they think UEFA,.FA, supporter groups and government were going to allow these 6 clubs to wreck out Football pyramid then you and them were deluded.

UEFA should banned each club for 2 years who signed up to it.

At PSG, Dortmund and Bayern had the balls to say no these greedy owners

This is the corner they have backed our clubs into. I didn't believe they were deluded enough to do that. Signing up to a mid-week competition is one thing, but actually leaving the Premier League, FA and struggling to register players that will likely take legal action to enforce is another.

So a statement has been made and the founding members of the Super League named. The die is cast. No bottling. Gary Neville wrong, as usual.

So yet again they bottled it just like Gary Neville said they would?

Did they really think that the footballing world would endorse this new Super League? Or the Political world? Cos if they did they are clueless and delusional greedy people.

Cos no one wants it apart from these greedy owners. The owners of these British clubs should be ashamed of their actions. No consideration for Fan opinions or our footballing pyramid structure.

Are you really in favour of these stupid proposals?

No, they haven't bottled it. They are in a different situation than they thought they would be.

The initial plan was for 15 teams to invite each year the best 5 of the rest into their mid-weekly league. 3 teams of the 15 declined.

Now they are faced with being kicked out of their respective federations and have their players banned from competitions run by UEFA and FIFA. A very different kettle of fish. Anything the clubs say could have legal repercussions.

@benhben I'm not interested in watching Arsenal play Man Utd once, thank you very much.

I think the current structure of football in this country is a Ponzi scheme.

That sounds shit. A 1 league closed competition. Either I'm miss reading your posts or you're all up for a billionaires show comp that rovers would never have chance to be a part of.  No thanks.

    Strange.

Don't we have a closed comp of billionaires every year in the closing stages of the champions league, already? Make what's implicit, explicit. We're not likely to get a sniff of European football as things currently stand. The only way is by winning one of the cups and our current manager has no interest in trying.

Whether such a move as this would cause football to return to its roots, I don't know. Fans Forums and Supporter Consultation that's not a farce like ours currently is.

Also where is the statement that was due at 9.30pm? Teams bottling it again.

The level of opposition and threats mean that it would have to be a new separate league. That opposition is also political. I am certain that the 11 or 12 did not want to form a new league. They are now backed up into a corner. They will probably try to finesse that. As of now, I suspect the statement will be delayed to allow time to take stock.

  7. 6 minutes ago, chaddyrovers said:

But other teams like PSG, Bayern Munich and Dortmund wont join them. So what other 8 teams will join them?

Also where is the statement that was due at 9.30pm? Teams bottling it again.

The European club association is against this ESL

14 other English teams to form a new league in England, if the European Super league didn't pan out.

  8. All this wheeling out of the great and the good - worthies who are no longer involved in the game. The status quo is about to be shaken up.

You think fans should be listened to, when you've the clear example of Venkys. Foreign owners don't listen to fans. They don't take threats to ban them from the local golf course, seriously.

UEFA wants to expand the Champions League to 36 clubs after qualifiers and have all the teams play 10 games. That's the joke.

I'm not giving the views of a few Sky Sports pundits any weight, either.

I'm minded of the opposition by the Football League to the Premier League and the language used to denounce it.

The ECA of 240 of Europe's leading clubs oppose the plan. Leading clubs? Part of the gravy train who want it to keep on flowing.

I doubt that Sky would want to pay the premier league so much revenue without the 6. The premier league would probably collapse.

@roverandout In that event, the 6 would just invite 14 other clubs to join them in a new league and be a closed competition just like the Football league was, when it only had one division.

No surprise. Neville's comments are correct and right for me. These 6 club owners have over step the mark. Simple as. Very surprised you are endorsing these stupid plans.

Why wouldn't you want Bayern Munich in it? Bigger club than Man City, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea.

These 6 clubs should consider fans views on this matter.

What about the players? It's not all about the clubs.

The plans aren't stupid. Reactions to it are OTT.

Players are under contract to the clubs.

  10. Just now, chaddyrovers said:

Why don't you agree with UEFA and PSG statements? Or even Gary Neville's comments?

Supporters from the 6 English football clubs arent happy about these plans. Clearly these 6 clubs owners haven't thoughts about the fanbase one bit.

UEFA and FIFA can banned these players from Euro and World Cup Competitions tho. Do you think these players don't want to play for their clubs?

I've never agreed with Gary Neville. In current circumstances i wouldn't want teams from France and Germany involved.

Some supporters have come out with their opposition. That's their right. It's also the right of the owners of the clubs to take the decisions in their best interests. Venkys have never taken our views as fans into account.

Clubs have never liked releasing players for international duty.

  11. 9 minutes ago, chaddyrovers said:

Look at how fans are reacting from these 6 clubs. They arent happy at all and annoyed at their clubs

Do you not agree with UEFA statement and PSG Comments on this European Super League idea?

    No.

@Ewood AceIt's unlikely that any of the teams haven't gone into this without looking at likely attendances.  Like me, they probably think it will improve. Unlike me, they'll have survey data and match figures for the proposed opposition.

@SIMON GARNERS 194 Yep the charade is over. No more spreading the jam earned by the elite all around europe. Salaries at all levels of football in England outside the premier league are unsustainable, yet I see no socially conscious queue of players demanding wage cuts.

@Miller11 Actually yes, the views of the whole fanbase matters.

A new league set up is not a matter for FIFA nor for UEFA per se. Clubs have to apply to take part in UEFA's club competitions and can withdraw any already lodged. I'd imagine the TV contracts are written in such a way that stop a load of money should certain teams not be in it.

I think that they have misjudged the fans in this country who go to watch them week in week out up and down the country. What this will appeal more to is overseas fans why don't have that strong attachment to the English game in general or to their clubs area, traditions and history and have become supporters of their club solely down to the fact that their club has been successful in their life time.

The six from our country have way more fans wanting to attend than they currently have space for. Their grounds will be full for their home matches.

This has the backing of JP Morgan to the tune of 6bn as per Sky Sports News and presumably their arsenal of lawyers.

    Why?

I would be happy with an Ainsworth appointment. He is tactically aware and he shown that against us when he switch formation against us and Mowbray had no answer to it.

I dont see him going to Preston cos they want an head coach and not manager type.

It's about what he'd do with the players and resources he'd have available here. He prefers 433, which isn't ours with the players we've available.

This is not some random French team. It's the team I've watched every time I could for the last 20 or so years. In the last 10 years I've probably watched them more than Rovers. I've stuck with them from the days when they had Kevin Gameiro up front with Vahirua, through days in Ligue 2 when they lost all their decent players and really struggled back to their fluked promotion last season. I think I probably know more about their players than I do Rovers' nowadays. They're certainly easier to watch. Rovers have my heart but not my interest

If he can fluke a promotion, we definitely need him here.
