  1. I think that was against FC Basel and Manchester City, respectively. I'm sure the City one was because they didn't have their away kit with them or something.
  2. I remember thinking how happy I would have been with Carlos Carvalhal being appointed after we reportedly interviewed him. He lasted four games at Al Wahda before being sacked. He's now at Celta Vigo. Somebody described Carvalhal as a carpetbagger. It looks like that someone isn't far wrong.
  3. Plenty of cons, certainly. Sun in your eyes. More exposed to the elements. Toilets more disgusting than anything I ever saw in the other stands.
  4. More legroom. Seats are a bit bigger, I think. And what you said. 😄
  5. -2° at 18:00, so it may get even colder by kick-off and beyond. It'll be clear, with snow having stopped some time in the morning.
  6. Luke Varney was my favourite dross. The epitome of how we far we fell. Depressing turning up to watch him on a cold Tuesday night in a third-full stadium.
  7. Stoke (A) = L Reading (H) = W B'ham (A) = L Norwich (H) = W H'field (A) = D Hull (H) = W Coventry (H) = W Nobbers (A) = D Dingles (H) = L Luton (H) = D Millwall (A) = L Total: 73 points
  8. I agree on that. Brittain seemed to back off into the six yard box for Barnes to run at us for their goal, although he was looking for some help to defend the middle. Still, he should have got closer to Barnes to stop him getting into a lethal area. Pickering has improved this season, and certainly should not be dropped based on recent performances.
  9. The Manchester is a designated away pub. It begs the question what Tony Johnson was doing around there. When you learn that he was part of The Muckers, a group described as a "firm" on their forum, it starts to paint a somewhat different picture to the assumption that it was a drugged up or drunk Burnley fan looking for a fight and killing someone.
  10. People won't stop getting into fights because they won't even be thinking about the potential consequences, let alone what has tragically happened here. Nobody will learn a lesson, here. Unless more police patrols on match-day can help, the only fix for stupidity like this is a good education, which by now is too late.
  11. We've had "quick" decisions for big money moves on deadline day before, haven't we? Brereton for one? The owners won't change their ways. The only thing that changes is who roams the corridors of Ewood and Brockhall. That could easily get worse, again, and we still have a few no-hopers, it seems. I'd be wary of believing that these owners have learned lessons. At best, they are very slow learners.
  12. I remember going solo to a home friendly, maybe 15 years ago. I naively decided to venture into N01 or N02 towards the back (I was never a BBE regular). It was traumatising. Some lad was sniffing coke off his car key. I was being mocked: "Look at him alone, what's he doing here?!". Horrible experience. I moved at half time. Lesson learned, but my first experience of knob heads in our fan base. My second was at Wigan away when it was £15 and we lost 5-3. Racist 20-year old knuckle heads sat behind us, also with a bully-like approach to those around them. It's sad, but Rovers have their fair share of idiots, and I'd wager most of them would get lamped in a real fight.
  13. The deal itself is conditional. It's clearly based on having Premier League money in the coffers. Otherwise we'd have committed regardless of promotion. £10m is peanuts in the Premier League, even for teams recently promoted. I'm not sure what your point is. That Venkys are being generous?
  14. I was onto my toe nails in the Sheffield United game. I think we need to remember that we haven't exactly been smashing teams, but we've found a belief from somewhere to dig in. The Rotherham defeat was only a month and a half ago, and I'm still wary that we can do that again. Hopefully it's just nerves. Come on, Rovers...
  15. Everton should have had that wrapped up by half-time. Forest will be the happier of the two based on the balance of play.
  16. Frankly I think a point at Stoke would be good, and a win excellent. Let's see. It seems the expectations have gone up at least.
  17. Like @Sweaty Gussets I just have a bad feeling about this one. A defeat would make for a miserable weekend watching it all unfold, so I would happily accept a point.
  18. I would. Neil is a canny manager and I'd just like us to keep our momentum ticking over. Four points from the next two would keep us well on-track.
  19. Firstly, that's only if we were promoted, after which we could easily afford it without Venky-credit. Secondly, I'm sure the EFL document said it was an option to buy, not an obligation to buy.
  20. Apparently it was a 56-year old Blackpool supporter named Tony Johnson. According to Lancs Live, he suffered a serious head injury outside The Manchester pub. A 33-year old man has been arrested.
  21. He died, unfortunately. A Blackpool supporter.
