  1. I went to Total Recall on Tuesday. I really enjoyed it. Just a good old fashioned action, sci-fi chase fest. It's not going to win Oscars, but it's good entertainment. I saw Lawless last night and thought it was excellent. It's quite violent and sinister. Guy Pierce is excellent, as is Tom Hardy.
  2. When I saw him play last season he was awful. He's looked decent at this level so far and could be a decent squad player, to go with Rhodes, Gomes and Kazim-Richards. Edinho looks so far off the pace and not ready yet. Rochina can play off a striker, so we do have options. I'm not fussed if he stays or goes, I would just worry about what we would do for strikers if we got a few injuries.
  3. 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation are hilarious shows. Hell On Wheels just started its second season and is pretty good. The Killing (the American version) just finished season 2 and is outstanding. I haven't seen the Danish version but that's supposed to be great too. Borgen is worth a watch. Treme will be back for season 3 soon enough which I can't wait for.
  4. Finally, someone in midfield who can put themselves about and put a bit of steel into the side that has been sorely missing. The only problem is that we still have a total cabbage managing us.
  5. I saw The Dark Knight on Friday. I thought it was brilliant. It went on for about 15 minutes too long, but that's the only criticism I would have of it. The ending is excellent and opens up an area of Batman that I forgotten all about through the Dark Knight trilogy. I saw Spiderman last week and thought it was a good show. There were a few naff bits to it, but overall it was really good. I would also recommend people seeing The Five Year Engagement. It was very enjoyable. Ted and The Bourne Legacy are the next ones of my radar.
  6. Treme is brilliant. Watch it. I never got round to The Borgias. I had it on the Sky+, but someone deleted them! I left The Killing off my list too. I absoutely love that show and is probaly my favourite one on TV at the moment. I'm onto my third episode of The News Room, which I've liked overall so far, but there are one or two annoying characters in it who I don't believe. I've also watched the first season of the Danish show Borgen, about the Danish primeminister. It's another excellent Scandanvian effort.
  7. I watched the first two or three seasons of 24, then just got bored of it and I thought it got crap. The same goes for Heroes. I watched that every week, but it just got too complex, had too many plot twists and in the end became a total mess.
  8. Word. My sister has all the box sets, but I just haven't gotten round to them yet. I've seen the odd episode and it's very quirky and funny. With all the shows I watch, it leaves very little time for anything else. I don't actually watch a lot of television. Just the news and sport and any good documentaries as I find TV on the whole to be dire. So I just download the shows I like and watch them instead.
  9. Some of the series that I have watched and still watch over the years. X Files Sopranos Deadwood Dexter Breaking Bad Friday Night Lights Entourage Modern Family Boardwalk Empire Band Of Brothers Californication The News Room Curb Your Enthusiasm East Bound and Down Treme Lost The Wire The Walking Dead Southland The West Wing ER Life Game Of Thrones The Pacific How To Make It In America Mad Men Angels In America In Treatment I never got round to watching the likes of House, Prison Break, Grey's Anatomy, The Shield or Fringe which people have assured me are all excellent.
  10. I enjoyed Tinker Taylor. I thought he looked fantastic and had a great atmosphere to it. I didn't understand what was going on in parts of it and wasn't that shocked by the ending because you knew that it was going to be one of them anyway. I thought The Way was excellent. That is until James Nesbitt showed up. I know he's a local guy and I should be supporting him, but I really don't see what all the fuss is about. People love the guy and will put him in anything. I think he's an awful actor and he bought the rest of the movie down when he turned up. I thought it went on about 15 to 20 minutes too long.
  11. I went to The Avengers the other night and really enjoyed it. It was really enjoyable. I also saw 21 Jump Street on Sunday. It was hilarious. On another note, the new Prometheus trailer looks unreal. I can't wait for this movie!
  12. I saw Paranormal Activity 3 last night. I thought that the ending to end was very, very dark and disturbing. I find movies that deal with the devil, demons, cults, possession, black magic and witch craft far scarier, than gore fests. I also watched the HBO movie Game Change, about the McCain / Palin campaign, last week and thought it was brilliant.
  13. I saw Lady In Black a couple of weeks ago and thought it was a good show. Pretty chilling stuff. I saw Project X the other night and loved it. There will be people who hate it of course, but I'm not one of them!
  14. Watchmen was excellent. I loved that movie.
  15. I thought Captain America was excellent. X-Men weren't bad, but they were just lacking something extra and I found it all a bit flat.
  16. I think that you have to look at Thor and Captain America as being two of the more successful comic book movies of recent times. Chris Nolan's Batman is by far and away the best comic book character put to screen so far in my opinion. Sam Raimi's Spiderman started well, but went down hill. Iron Man was good. Iron Man 2 was very weak. The X-Men series has never been able to nail it for one reason or another. Wolverine was ######. I enjoyed the last Superman, but that isn't proceeding with that line up. Daredevil was half decent. I've never been that fussed by the Hulk movies or Hellboy. Blade is one of my favourite movies, but the ones after rapidly go down hill. Others like Elektra, Catwomen, Jonah Hex, The Punisher, Fantastic Four and Ghost Rider are just too awful to even consider.
  17. Enjoyed all of these movies. Especially Limitless.
  18. I've seen a couple of good movies in the cinema recently. Last week I saw The Descendants starring George Clooney. It was an excellent movie. Clooney is brilliant. I'd recommend it. I also went to see The Grey last week. I wasn't that fussed either way on seeing it, but I went a long and enjoyed it. I doubt I'd watch again, but it's entertaining enough. A couple of weeks ago I went to see Shame. How that movie and Michael Fassbender didn't get nominated for Oscars is beyond me. It's one of the best movies I've seen certainly in a long time, if not ever. It's not an easy watch and that's not because of openly sexual nature of the movie, but more to do with the visible pain and anguish the character is in. This is a must see if you are a movie fan. I doubt you will 'enjoy' it, but you'll be glad that you saw it. A other movies that have been downloaded which I've watch recently are The American, Somewhere, Moneyball and Another Earth. I enjoyed them all, especially Another Earth.
  19. I finished the first Game Of Thrones book a few weeks ago. Fantastic read. I've started on book two and it's moving along nicely!
  20. Great movie. Loved it! There were some really funny scenes in it too. The camera man frantically rubbing the troll stench on himself while the in the cave springs to mind!
  21. Tragic news. God bless him and his family.
  22. I saw Contagion last night. Very good movie. It will certainly make you think about all the different surfaces that you touch and don't think to wash your hands after.
  23. I went to Tinker Taylor Soldier Spie on Monday night and Planet Of The Apes last night and thoroughly enjoyed them both. TTSS is an intense watch and you really have to be tuned in to understand what is going on. I'd say that it's one of those movies that becomes clearer after a few watches, like Heat or The Usual Suspects.
  24. If 1 and 2 are anything to go by, it should be sweet.
  25. I saw The Inbetweeners Movie last night and really enjoyed it. I had my doubts about it, as I felt that the last series was a bit dry and was worried that this would be the same. But I thought it was very funny. It is just like a long episode set in the sun. There are some knob Burnley fans on a bus that made me laugh and then a guy with a Rovers tattoo at the hole of a hotel that they were staying in! Crude fun!
