  1. I went to see 2012 last week. It's not too bad, but not great either. There are some very impressive pieces to the movie, with the scale of destruction covering the globe and the size of the arcs. There are some great bits of action as well. However, there is an awful lot of cliched nonsense, with some awful dialogue and dodgy CGI. The trailer is fantastic and this movie is better than say The Day The Earth Stood Still, which also had a great trailer, but was a complete pile of balls.
  2. I can understand playing 4-5-1 away from home. But when we are at Ewood I would like to see us going with a 4-4-2 formation. Dunn could have a free role in the midfield, with Emerton, N'Zonzi and Grella covering the rest of the midfield. Pedersen and Diouf have been totally useless this seas and I don't see us missing them. I would like to see how Benni and Di Santo would play together. Benni is the best finisher at the club and someone like that shouldn't be easily let go.
  3. This is a tragic story. It goes to show that the rich and famous are like everyone else when it comes to their children and the devastation caused when they die. I feel so sorry for his wife and adopted child.
  4. I saw the Michael Jackson movie This Is It last night. Basically it's just recordings of him and the rest of the show rehearsing, with some brief interviews with the cast and crew. It's very enjoyable and show's that he wasn't completely crazy when in a 'normal' situation. He still had all the moves down, even if they weren't delivered with the same force as in the past. Some of his singing was fantastic too. The show itself would have been unreal, easily the biggest of all time.
  5. He's the best finisher in the club and if he or Jason Roberts were to find themselves one on one with the keeper, I know which one I would be backing to score. I understand why he hasn't been playing and I don't think that Dunn should be dropped to for him. Dunn is our most creative player and by playing just off Di Santo, he doesn't have the same amount of running to do if he were playing in the centre of midfield or on the left wing. I think this has allowed him to stay injury free so far this season. Preferably I would like to see a midfield on Dunn, Emerton, N'Zonzi and Reid, with Dunn having a free role from the left and the other three having the legs to cover the rest of the midfield. This would allow McCarthy to play more. With Di Santo probably going back to Chelsea, it's vital that we keep hold of Benni, because I don't want our only two strikers to be Kalinic and Roberts.
  6. I watched it a while ago and was pleasantly surprised. I remembered Empire giving it 1 star and saying that it was the worst movie of the year. But it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought and actually thought parts of it were pretty good. I watched Unforgiven for the first time the other night. What a great movie that is. It really captures the sense of a good old Western movie from the past, with the pace, tone and script.
  7. I went and saw Adventureland earlier. It's a really good movie, with some good laughs. I'd recommend it.
  8. I haven't seen it, because I'm not that into horror, but a guy in work was telling me about a French movie called Martyrs. This guy is a real movie buff and is the most laid back, nonresponsive, unemotional person I know and isn't easily put off. However even he had a hard time watching this movie. I've seen the trailer on youtube and it looks vile. I've also seen scenes from the movie, which are even worse. The same guy also told me about a Koren movie called Auditon, which he says is pretty messed up. Enjoy!
  9. Saw it the other night and it is brilliant! A really good show.
  10. It was my Dad's birthday a couple of weeks ago and my mum asked me to look at a few places to go for dinner in Belfast. A new restaurant had opened in the Cathedral Quarter of the city in the last year called No. 27 Talbot Street. It was apparently fantastic, great food, service settings and the new place to go. I looked up their website and was shown their menu with prices, which to my surprise were very reasonable; £10-12 for a main course. I let my mum know and she said to go a head and book a table. When we arrived at the restaurant that night, we walked in and it really was as nice as people had said. However whenever we given the menus and I saw that they were different from what I had seen on the website, I realised that I had been looking at the lunch menu and as such the prices for the dinner menu was twice as much! We stayed and had the best meal I've possibly had in a Belfast restaurant; I mean, it was superb. It's no wonder that celebrity chef Paul Rankin is bankrupt, with this place now around. It was worth every penny and didn't mind paying at all for such a good meal. If anyone is ever in Belfast and they are looking for nice places to eat I would recommend No.27 Talbot Street, along with Nick's Warehouse, Deane's At Queens, Cafe Conor, The Emerald, Villa Italia, Indie Spice, James Street South and McHughs.
  11. Wouldn't want him within 100 miles of Ewood Park. The guy is a complete scumbag who is obviously mentally unstable. He's a good player, when he isn't in jail, suspended by the league or his club or injured. We should look else where for a central midfielder. Joey Barton doesn't deserve to be playing in the Premier League.
  12. Agreed. I thought the trailer for The Day The Earth Stood Still made it look like the movie of the year. It was anything but!
  13. I watched the movie Almost Famous last night. It's been sitting on the DVD shelf for years and I've never been tempted to watch it. However, havin wtahced nearly all of the 350+ dvds that my family has, I thought I would give this a go and I wasn't disappointed. A really enjoyable movie. ANother movie that I had never worked up the interest to watch was Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which like ALmost Famous had sat in front of me for years. This movie was hilarious, one of the funniest things I've seen for a while.
  14. I went to Gran Torino last night and really enjoyed it. Clint Eastwood is very good and some of the stuff he comes out with is hilarious. I would recommend this movie!
  15. I've been to the cinema a lot recently, there has been some really good stuff on. I've seen, The Wrestler, Australia, Che Part 1, The Reader, Valkyrie, The Reader, Slumdog Millionaire and Frost / Nixon. Of all of them, I enjoyed The Wrestler, Australia and Slumdog Millionaire the most. I wish I had gone to see Role Models, it was supposed to be hilarious. I will be going to Gran Torino and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button when I get the chance. I've been taking advantage of Zaavi's big sales recently, buying a pile of DVD's. The best ones include, East Is East, 21 Grams, Father Of The Bride and The Counterfeiters. I also watched •REC the other night and it was brilliant. Think of a Spanish cross between Blair Witch Project and 28 Days Later. The ending scared the sh!t out of me.
  16. I went to see Defiance on Friday night and would agree with this description of the movie. It's a good show, but you don't come away feeling awed by this miraculous story, like you do when you see Schindler's List or The Pianist. Empire gave it 3 out of 5 and I would say that's about right. I also saw Slumdog Millionaire today and it really is one of the best movies of the year. It's a fantastic story, brilliant cinematography and really great acting that draws you in and has you feeling for the characters. It really is one of the best feel good movies you will see!
  17. I watched most of that last night. It was totally ph**ked up! Easily one of the most disturbing movies I've ever seen. I think it's based on a true story, which made it all the more terrifying. I've always wanted to go to the outback in Australia, but I'm having second thoughts after seeing this!
  18. I went to see Che the other night. It was really good. The mix of colour with black and white works really well. I did fall asleep for about 10 minutes of it, but that had to with me being tired from a long day at work, rather than the movie! I would highly recommend this movie. I will probably go and see Slum Dog Millionaire and Defiance this weekend.
  19. Taken, is that the one with Liam Neeson? I heard it was dire. Is it good?
  20. It's just that I expected so much more. The trailers for it looked amazing, but my God it was so slow and boring. You'd have no idea by the way people are acting that the world was about to come to an end. After having a 5 minute chat with John Cleese, Keanu Reeves was having second thoughts about destroying planet earth! I did go and see Australia the other night. I really enjoyed it. It was just a good old fashioned heart warming story.
  21. The last movie I went to see was The Day The Earth Stood Still and was utter tat. I was looking forward to it for ages, because the trailer made it look amazing, with a real sense of impending doom. The movie was the complete opposite, slow and boring. I saw some of the Chronicles Of Narnia the other night and thought it was dire. As usual the TV this Christmas has been kack. I may go and see Australia later. Here are a couple of movie trailers that look the business. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XeP8Vf0gYq4 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KZ1r_RPH28Q&...feature=channel http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=nIG3nwbRk-Y&...feature=channel http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=lKbEI8pDz0A&...feature=channel http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JIpZxBczWUg The last trailer especially, looks the unreal!
  22. That seems to be the problem! I do agree though. He has gone backwards since his first season with us. Many players suffer in their second season and find it hard to rediscover their form. He should at least be fit, trim and ready to work hard at getting back to where he was. Imagine what a good strike force we would have with him and Roque both in top form.
  23. I saw the new Indie movie the night it was released and like everyone else I was really looking forward to it. However, I felt that it was a poor addition to the trilogy. It's hard to put into words why, but it just didn't have the same feeling as the others. I think that the Indie movies were very much of their time and it is very hard to recreate this style in the modern day. I thought that the movie moved at a pedestrian pace for large parts of it, I thought that the whole father/son relationship was totally over played and had some awful lines, while the scene with quicksand was a total waste of time. The action scenes in the jungle went on too long and when Shia LaBeouf swung through the jungle on tree vines, I had to laugh. The other three movies were pretty unbelievable in terms of their premise and what he is looking for, but I felt that the whole alien thing was ridiculous in comparison to the other movies. Indie didn't really do anything in the final scene, you want to see him doing some jumping around and avoiding traps, but there was none of that. There were some good parts to the movie, but I really think that is nowhere near the other movies. I saw Mongel last week, the story about Genghis Khan. It is good, visually stunning and a wonderful soundtrack. However there isn't much flow to the movie, as it justs movies from one epic scene to another. This is what really lets the movie down, but it is still worth a look. I watched Pan's Labyrinth a few nights ago. It is easily one the of the best movies I've seen for a long time. The two different strands of the movie don't collide at all, but give another side to the movie that you immerse yourself in. This is a great show. The Dark Knight, Hancock and X-Files 2 are a few of the movies that I'm really looking forward to this summer.
  24. AESF's post highlighted all the reasons why Sam Allardyce shouldn't become our manager. I would be disgusted with the John Williams and the board if he were chosen to take us forward from where Mark Hughes left off. I can't imagine too many of our players would welcome his arrival either and that could lead to a whole different set of problems.
