[Archived] How The Game Is Changing
JAL replied to AggyBlue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Some of the offside decisions have been mistakes made mainly by the assistant referees at some premiership games but then the so called pundits have added far, far, more confusion to the offside rule with long winded debates aimed to fill their airwaves or tv minutes to what have been basic errors of judgement by individual officials. Soccer pundits and radio football pundits must share the blame in all this confusion to the understanding of the offside Law 11. IF THESE PUNDITS DONT UNDERSTAND THE OFFSIDE LAW WHY ARE THEY GIVING THEIR SO CALLED EXPERT OPINION ON THE GAME. -

Its a health and safety issue, the referee has to ensure the safety of all the players, if ones injured he must allow the injured player to be treated or assessed by a professional who then along with the player decides on if that player is fit enough to resume playing without any further consequences to his health. -
[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
JAL replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Hughes has been coming out with statements about games that are totally skewed from what i am watching, blaming referees when the team has been crap, not acknowledging poor refereeing decision that have got Rovers off the hook, playing Mokoena, waiting till the second half to make the changes, playing Nelsen when hes dire, overlooking the negatives clinging to something that isnt there. Hughes tells us this is the best squad hes ever had when it clearly isnt - did we hear that once under Souness just before he departed. The non denial of being interested in the Newcastle job. At every press opportunity Hughes keeps telling us all how good he and his staff are, is he openly selling his team whilst the team are playing abysmally whilst many of the fans blame it on lack of funds. Come this summer if Hughes cant bring ONE quality player in to give everyone a lift then his time is up come the summer. -
[Archived] So Just Where Are All The Ex-rovers?
JAL replied to FourLaneBlue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Just for the older posters who followed Rovers in the sixties and early seventies had the pleasure of meeting an ex Rover called Malcolm Darling on boxing day at a charity football match at Fenniscowles playing fields. For those old enough to be interested, Malcolm is about to take over the running of Pleasington golf club bar facilities, he looked well and was looking forward to taking over at Plessy golf club. -
This is a two and half month old blip and growing we are nineth today but come the end of the season if this continues we'll finish twelth or thirteenth next season it become another relegation battle. Action is required now!!!!!!

Hughes deserves all the crticism thats coming his way, are his football management days coming to an end he gets his bumper pay rise and the wheels come completely off. Arron Mokoena a quality central midfielder what can he do he shouldnt be any where near the premiership.
-
Thats not right, many of them havent been good enough thats why they dont play. Garner was never going to be premiership standard and Matty so far hasnt pushed himeself hard enough to get into the first team jus a shame he picks up an injury last night. You should ask who brings these young kids in through the acedemy door only to find they just dont cut the ice at this level.
-
Hardly suprising when you see the current economic make up of the town and as some might say the current figures are very good, although they are a long way off their fellow competitors which cant be good.
-
The Portsmouth owner rewarded the pompey fans by paying for the coach travel to the Wigan game thats one main reason why so many went to Wigan and not here.
-
They'll only come if they here something positive and are surrounded by people talking about Rovers in a proud positive manner sadly the reality is ....we Rovers fans are very thin on the ground and many of the locals who dont go to Ewood seek every opportunity to knock Rovers thus this influence will probably be the image that any foreigner will be greeted with in Blackburn about Blackburn Rovers. Plus they'll have little money in their pockets as they come just to collect some cash from our own 'Black Jack' Straw in return for a vote.

Just reading Bents comments after the game and you just feel the positivity not from just Bents but you feel hes echoing what the rest of the squad are thinking that what Mark Hughes did on saturday regarding Macarthy, MGP, Sav's non selection has given everyone amassive boost that there are no favourites and that only the highest standards are expected sending out the clearest of messeges to all employees . This action for me, is a big defining moment in the season that you can only agree with and for me its a decision that sorts out the winners from the also rans. Absolutely fanatastic stuff, how lucky are we as Rovers fans when the club's management are continually making and implementing very good decisions. No ones bigger than the club, club policy everyone must be ready so as fans......ARE YOU READY FOR THURSDAY NIGHT!!!!! BRING EM ON.... -
Seen a statistic somewhere that shows just over 5000 people have left Blackburn over the past five years or so but the area has had an influx of around 4000, leaving a population deficit of something like 700 plus. If this trend continues Blackburn will completely change but will the new influx be ready and willing to support Rovers in the future.

I'll be amazed in fact flabbergasted if Benni starts against Pompey on Sunday .
-
I think Benni has started the season just as he did last season, this season though sees another new addition in Santa Cruz and he and the rest of the players are just geting used to how one another play. It takes time, i seem to remember Macarthy coming alive after we had beaten Reading away - how far into the season was that ? Relax the time to get more from Benni is when the importance of the games become more significant and meaningful than this early in the season. Hes a luxury item that puts the icing on the cake but like all luxuries the team have to work dammed hard to afford them and sometimes we just cant afford them so lets just enjoy it when we can.

Gilberto didnt play and also Rosicky didnt play central midfield but a certain second rater whom some on here seem to admire did ...Flamini played. Dunny's confidence grew when he scored that goal and fair play to him but in the first half of the Arsenal game if you thought Dunny did well...... Chelsea next and some world class midfielders to compete against like Essien and the fast improving Mikel now thats what i call a tester for Dunny, should be good. -
[Archived] Should Dunny Have Come Home?
JAL replied to blinddevotion's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Hold on, i said his performance against City was excellent then to add a balance to this or as some may say contradict i said City's midfield wasnt that good, this for me gave Dunny a great opportunity to showcase his talents. Having watched City for the second time this season the other being at home to ManU i'm not impressed with them one bit so i'm trying to keep things in prospective and not get carried away which some posters on here seem to have been doing since day one. -

Maybe a new ruling for next season will be that managers, club officials or media people cannot make pre match comments about officials prior to any game. -
[Archived] Buying A Shirt (read this if you need help)
JAL replied to Leo1875's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Can you buy the away shirt ..without that ###### bet 24 logo on, if so, i think the shirt would be one of the best away shirts Rovers have ever produced. Ps. white socks with the black shorts and away top looks classier. -
For me, it shows up Pearces weaknesses with the above comment in that hes all aggression and little brain power, Pearce for me runs with the past but has liitle to offer for the future..... and this guy is in charge of our youngsters.
-
Typical of the donkeylashers small town mentality, if it was the other way round i think many of us would be talking about signing him on.
-
But we had Dunny for half a season does that not make up for it.
-
Spot on, totally agree thats a view shared by a lot of Rovers i know, and i think at the end of the day whatever the outcome maybe in the summer Rovers are in a win win situation.
