  1. That's true - a lack of critical thinking will be on show!
  2. We do have a sizeable minority of fans who love nothing more than lambasting their fellow fans. People love to push forward the 'Ewood is a jury' quote, but our fans have always felt pretty patient to me. A few moans here and there but par for the course with football supporters.
  3. This decision was the final straw from me. He's bullshitted his way through hiking season ticket prices and other costcutting to the detriment of fans, but shutting down our main 'stand' for what must be tiny benefit (but more likely detriment) is idiotic, brainless and uncaring. I hope he gets an attendance worthy of his dickhead decision.
  4. I think he talked really well, but there is still considerable uncertainty. As far as I'm concerned, if the downsizing continues and we continue to need to make cutbacks, it will end in one way and that's relegation. This isn't me being pessimistic, but when you constantly make savings you are one decision away from failure, whether it be a poor manager or a replacement not being up to it. That won't happen when JDT is manager, but as we saw when Coyle came in (after a couple of summers of inept recruitment), it can come quickly. I do feel GB is doing the best job he can under the circumstances but we are relying on him pulling rabbits out of the hat currently.
  5. I've shared stands with them at various times, including a 1-1 draw at Ewood in 2014. Not a hint of trouble at any of the games, and that reputation is very much a thing of the past - mainly since they left Ninian Park. Nothing about Cardiff to suggest they couldn't be segregated the same way we always have done. That being said, I'm not advocating an even more embarrassing closure of a 3rd stand!
  6. Great to get an insight into life under the various managers. His departure another sorry tale in the levelling down of this football club.
  7. I've only just seen this and I am absolutely flabbergasted. Having one stand open will reduce the crowd considerably, hammer the atmosphere and make us look absolutely tinpot. Cardiff will be shooting towards their fans second half, we will be shooting towards a void of blue seats. It's absolutely stupid and I hope those in a position to communicate it do so robustly.
  8. "People can believe me or not, but I'm actually being paid £690,000-per-week"
  9. Henderson interview out - load of guff about not moving to Saudi for money, wanting to make a positive change and he's sorry people feel he's turned his back on a lot of the causes/people he seemed to care so deeply about. I'd have a lot more respect for him if he said 'the money was daft and I had to take it' rather than the crap he's come out with today. He's getting pelters all over social media so don't think the PR exercise has had the desired effect.
  10. He had a decent game vs Watford, but the ones calling him a 'hero' probably aren't the ones who want him replaced. 'Hero' is very hyperbolic - I'd save that sort of description for Friedel at the Emirates, not Pears making a few decent saves that you'd be pretty disappointed if he conceded from. History tells us he's just as likely to follow up his poor performance with another - when his confidence goes he just falls apart. We saw it Saturday, we saw it at Wigan and we've seen it in similar runs before. It isn't fair to attribute all the blame on him (S.Wharton was woeful for their 3rd) but 2 mistakes, both of which resulted in a goal are going to raise questions. He got very lucky with another one as well
  11. Bloody hell. Awful from Wharton for their 1st. Looked totally disinterested - you have to get your body behind it. 2nd goal - poor from Pears. Then he puts his arms up as if he's appealing for offside? 3rd goal - calamitous from Pears but that 2nd 'header' from S.Wharton is so bloody timid. A couple of poor misses shown too.
  12. I think JDT has done well, but what makes you think he's so in demand? He took us to 7th, a slight improvement on 8th the season before. Yes we lost players, but that's happened before. As well as some very high profile thumpings on the tele - see Burnley/PNE. He has a good track record before us and I'm confident he will be a top manager, but Boro need someone who will hit the ground running and I'll be shocked if they go for JDT. That being said, I might be wrong - but sincerely hope he stays. As for not being backed - I am inclined to agree, but we did bring a fair few in. It looks worse at the moment as half of them are injured.
  13. 3-0 is absolutely garbage - you can blame missed chances but we seem to have rediscovered our very soft underbelly. 20 odd shots for the home side, 3 goals. I can't see us kicking on this season as we just cannot follow up a good result with another.
  14. It's difficult to sanction though - if they got sanctioned we'd also be on the hook as we made 10 changes. Pretty much every side does it in the cup, and any sanctions would be difficult to enact as the quality of the players replacing the 'first teamers' is extremely subjective.
  15. Got the winner vs Rangers the other week too.
  16. From experience, the ticket website only seems to be 'active' (or tickets are only available) during club ticket office opening times. Presumably something to do with them only keeping a certain percentage online and avoiding 'over selling' tickets. I'm sure there's a cleverer way for them to do it, but never seems to work for me in the evenings.
  17. Yep, definitely a Rovers false flag operation. It was also our lot who trashed Burnley town centre, flew the racist plane banner over Turf Moor during lockdown and lobbed things at City players last week.
  18. The one time I say something nice about that shower and they repay me by looking like a bunch of raffle winners - love to see it 😎 Now, did I tell you about how great those signings were......?
  19. As I get closer to the game, my previous excitement is now turning to trepidation, especially given how threadbare the attack looks. On the positive side, I look forward to frequenting some London alehouses after, they might be well needed! Ignoring the mounting evidence - Watford 2-3 Rovers, Szmodics, Hyam and Carter to score.
  20. Bit unfair to label him a crock, plenty of players get injured. If he spends half the season out with an array of injuries I might be more inclined to agree.
  21. Basing the criteria on one game is absolute madness - as others have said, surely using last season was more sensible? You can still reward this year's loyalty by only opening to ST/club members this year, but without putting the remaining onus on one game. I would advocate some sort of 'loyalty points' approach, but a) no opportunity for an 1875 club swindle b) even that is flawed e.g. how to weight it. I didn't renew this year due to being so far away and couldn't go anyway, but the post above highlights the nonsense of it.
  22. I would argue that the full replay from behind the goal is even more damning than that picture. The Twitter account 'reptracker' posted it and the comments from fans of various clubs are all equally damning of Pears' goalkeeping. As most of the comments aren't Rovers fans, the reaction is mainly one of humour and mockery. Of course he should start over on that side, but this isn't Subbuteo - players can move very easily, and he had bags of time to readjust, make himself big and at least give Connolly a finish to make. Instead he basically showed him exactly where he could easily score - a straight shot which Pears didn't even dive towards. I am not as critical of Pears as some but that piece of goalkeeping was amateur at best. Would Kaminski have saved it? Who knows, but he would have made himself big ,tried to close off the angle and at least forced Connolly into a half decent finish.
  23. I am! The quick pint or 2 is if they serve alcohol at 10am, otherwise it will be a quick breakfast and setting off for the ground shortly after 11. Note - not to sound like an alcoholic, but a Guinness wouldn't go amiss after a 4 hour coach!
  24. There's loads of pubs, just not sure how great they are tbh! I think I'll head to O'Neills just by the station - although got a feeling they don't serve until 11am (some are 10am on a Sunday). So will be just a pint or 2 before the game - imagine most of the better local pubs are closed until kick off. We might get tonked, but after their QPR game I've seen nothing from their Plymouth (0-0) and Stoke (0-1) results to have us any more worried than usual.
