Eustace spoke highly of Buckley when he arrived at the club. May just have been standard manager spiel welcoming a player back into the fold after his loan. Buckley looked a man bereft of confidence for the most part. He was fantastic against Newcastle but poor in the league games. Maybe he’ll come back next season revitalised. I think CM is possibly the only position we are well catered for with Travis, Tronstad, Buckley, Garrett and JRC.

Football died for me when physios were no longer middle-aged men with comb-overs running on to the pitch 20 minutes after the stricken player’s injury occurred, carrying nowt but a red bucket and dirty sponge. It’s all poncey shite now.

It’s fine if you can make every kick off time but for those who can’t they might be better off just buying on a game by game basis. They’re Billionaires. £20m is a drop in the ocean. I just don’t think it’s clear yet what will happen this summer. There have been no indications of anything yet. if it’s as bad as you suggest then hopefully the protests that were starting to build back up before Waggott pulled his player/fan stunt will re-ignite. As a fan base we’ve been passive for far too long.

In the void that is communication from the club all sorts of stuff is going to be suggested this summer. What I liked about GB was at least he treated supporters with enough respect as to let us know what was going on occasionally.

Seems an odd move if the issues regarding funding have been resolved (as stated in the joint statement between WATR and the club), also considering the new TV deal, the Raya money, the Wharton money etc I guess we’ll find out soon enough….

That was certainly the narrative coming out of the club, and it does have merit. We’ll see next season. Hopefully he gets the attacking players we desperately need.

Agreed. The issue last season was that when we were 6th we got injuries to key players and within a couple of months the season completely unravelled. The first XI was competetive but some games around Xmas we literally had a bench full of kids. Obviously JDT falling out with some players didn’t help. Eustace has shown he can go away from home and set a team up to defend really well. What he hasn’t shown yet, besides the odd counter attack led by Szmodics, is how to attack teams and create chances. next season we start with a clean slate. Judging by his signings at Brum he looks like he plays with quick wingers so hopefully we’re a bit more potent next season. Obviously Szmodics will be a big miss but I’m hoping we can sign some quality attackers this summer. I’m not too downbeat about next season just yet. maybe I’m just deluded!
