  1. Manager list ...Bob Crompton. Won FA Cup and 2 rescues. Has Big Al won yet -been out of the country.
  2. 11. club have to win more than 5 matches per season 12. put the local teenagers/ex-youth team/alex bruces in earlier 13. consider a Lancashire United with Preston before the power we hold goes. 14.diversify- a 4 star Hotel as a joint venture 15. talk to our award winning Council We must campaign to change the mind-sets.
  3. Good posts Paul but can you come up to my place and cut me down. So you are suggesting: 1. free tickets for under 8s 2. graded ticket prices up to 21 yrs of age 3. low interest season ticket plans(incl. Cup matches) 4. half season tickets for less regular attendees 5. ticket sales from the Town and surroundings 6. ticket bundling(big matches with weaker matches or at Chritmas/Easter) 7. a Club/Town 30,000 Campaign(like Charlton) 8. greater redevelopment of the ground and environs 9. proper CLUB shop in the town 10.Bleachers zone at the top of Darwen End with incentives to transfer to other parts of ground. Come on we must become Campaigners as well as complainers(NEW SLOGAN)
  4. My previous post anticipated us going for Bellamy BUT I was not hopeful. Clearly the Jack Walker Trust has seen the decline in enthusiasm for the team and is stepping in(hopefully with the Dahlin money as insurance!) to have one last go to move us up a tier in the Premiership. Now will you need cheap tickets to support your local team or of your birth? And for those who are 1000s of miles away send your money to Mr JW Williams c/o Ewood Park and the tickets sold will be more than those actually attending! This is ambitious and exciting can we match it? A start would be to get your friends to the Chelsea match.
  5. At 7.15 pm on Wednesday the moment will arrive that determines the match. The team is announced. If it contains Johnson,Matteo.Mokoena or Bothroyd and does not include Nissa,Matty,Soft Bazza or Reid in the 16 then write it off. Emerton must be on the right and MGP on the left and Thommo has to be disciplined ( I know an alien concept to the cheeky chappy). Also expecting Dickov not to be fit so need to play Stead (the best of a very poor bunch). All in all a difficult match for us spectators and fans.Best wishes to you all and may your God go with you.
  6. Got to be major changes for the Chelsea match - today was farcical.Jemal J. was like a little boy. Matteo like a caveman. Nelson a big improvement but where was Nissa and Matty? Absolute travesty unless they are included on Wednesday. And thank God for Savage and Todd for all the tidying up they did from ALL the misplaced passes ( 50% from Thommo the headless chicken). Come back "Soft Bazza" its not that bad down here. And 10,600 is a stain on a so called Premiership Club. Use it or lose it. Personally I'm sick of all your excuses. Lets have a poll and see how many on the Members list actually went. Thank god the drummer turned up. Thenodrug I'm with you - I fear for our medium-term future.
  7. On this one if I had a 100 votes they would all go for Big Al. Those 4 Seasons we had him were so exciting and the VE Night game with Shearer scoring from Le Saux's scooped cross my strongest memory from 1800 games since the late 50s. BUT the player that kept us going during the early 70s when we were as bad as the Dingles was TONY FIELD. Bought for £50k or something like that from Southport he was a poacher and a dribbler.Apart from Sir Roger Jones and Tony Parkes/Stuart Metcalfe/Derek Fazackerly we were so crap that you wouldn't go to the bottom of the road to watch them.Gates averaged 6,500 and Man U/Liverpool took all the glory hunters. Tony Field meanwhile pre-Garner scored most of our goals including a goal at Rochdale that lives in the memory and loads of long runs into the penalty area at Ewood always outpacing the defenders. Went with Ken Furphy to Sheff Utd and eventually played with Pele for the New York Cosmos!! Anyone else remember him?
  8. Great points about Student season tickets and attracting kids.Kids free under 8 attract Parents to bring them.Having Season ticket holders keeps you attending thru the bad patches.I want the Premier plus ticket back so there isn't the fag of having to buy individual Cup tickets and you can pay for it by standing order every month. And thenodrug is not belittling people ...his point is "Use it or lose it".There will be cheap tickets to play Blackpool(whatever Division they are in). Whatever must messrs. Hughes,Savage,Bowen etc think of the level of enthusiasm and fan base we have? And it has never taken our Directors long to take the pessimistic route.Read "Century of Soccer" or one of Jackman's books re the 1960s and 1970s. 20,000 FOR COLCHESTER CAMPAIGN.
  9. I have saved my Cardiff stubs just in case we draw a big club..in case you all decide to come out to play a la Celtic.
  10. Mrs Jansen -according to another thread cos the match is a Monday you may be putting in one of your rare appearances. Hope your boy is playing!
  11. 9141 ? So what's the problem to solve for the FA Cup 5th Round?
  12. Todd was as quiet as ever last night and showed no sense that he had taken on a new role.A bit like "Soft Bazza" then.
  13. Well it was an exciting match.I was wrong by 20% predicting 11,000 but as thenodrug has so amply put it it all shows a public drifting away from Ewood.Of my crowd of 20 or so only 10 turned up(incl. 4 from my family) Lets hope Lilly and a better crowd for the 4th round start to jack up general fanaticism(S.V. Fan) for the April 6-pointers and then next years Season Tickets. If we don't get 20,000 for the Colchester match or 25% more than Bumley I will be worried that 2005/6 will be the relegation season. If the Premier League is starting to lose its popularity why is it always twice as bad in East Lancs?
  14. A few tickets still available and the weather is Spring-like.
  15. Bellamy,Dickov,Savvo and Flitty in the same team....TASTY With presumably Todd to nut anyone who gets thru!! What a move from Soft Bazza - the only Celt footballer ever to be homesick- to a team that isn't a pushover. And we always prided ourselves on the ball-players and dribblers. Bazza has to go for £5m nett.
  16. That mascot that was taller than midget previous Captain. Makes Sherwood,Hendry,Shearer,Parkes,Clayton seem like Gods and Sir Bob Crompton the legend he will always remain. Barrie Ferguson a stain and a pin-head in our glorious 130 years history.
  17. What is going on in that guy's head. After 2 months we had to nurse him back from injury and now he wants to leave. His package will have cost us £10m incl. Agents, wages and signing on fees. No wonder he's been the most un-inspiring Captain in 40 years.A lot of fans who have backed him will be a lot wiser today. Minimum £5m.
  18. 15000...have you seen the weather? Burnley's new grass and old tarpaulin(HA HA) are going to be tested-the fixture should be played by May. Better weather for Wednesday night but just rounding up the Huskies! Still 2-0 Rovers and inevitably MGP to score.
  19. Hoping for 2-0 and 11,000 including 41 from this Board(plus a few more who decide to sneak in) Then the row about the Colchester tickets starts!!
  20. The vote is at an interesting stage: - 52 going - 39 disillusioned - 36 excuses Assuming the 36 always have excuses the attendance should be 50% of our normal hard-core 18,500 plus Cardiff fans.At least 10k then. So if its more than 10000 does it make this Board unrepresentative? The silent yet positive majority would have voted with their feet and the dissenters have spent it at the pub(or £10 of it) If under 10000 then I will admit the Club and the positive, less parochial fans like myself were wrong.(if we are then how do we survive in the Premier League?)
  21. So when budgeting do we assume no Rovers Cup matches? And now we see a route thru to 5th round should we not support the team to get a Cup run at last? The poll should have an extra line : "I will not be attending til we get to the Semi-final but reserve the right to complain at each stage of the FA Cup until we win it gloriously in May at the last Cardiff final"
  22. Will the mods allow us to start an "I'm going " thread to dispel the gloom on this one.Theno is right ...£19 goes to the football club we want to do well. Also £10 (the figure you might pay) from £19 means 5 less pints or one less taxi fare or shopping at Aldi rather than Tesco. If "Roversismylife" you have to calculate these sacrifices.
  23. How can the Rovers win? You dont turn up when the prices are much lower eg Bournemouth,Team B/C matches, and you also want the Rovers to do well in the Cup for a change. Everton would never have a thread like this on their site..they would go out of devotion. And then we have members with names like "Roversismylife" saying they are not going to go.Am I missing the irony. Cup prices are not fixed by the Home Club.
  24. 3rd bid for savage about Tuesday of next week I think.Keep in touch with him daily at home and let unethical Brum stew. Whatever happens if you want to keep Bazza at the Club you fans of him need to stiffen the boards resolve not to accept £4m to £5m from anyone. Still think we'll see Savvo at Pompey. At least he is a bit of a character, profile for the club and may help to get more fans in(which is still the root of all our problems) Keep your nerve Rovers!!
  25. N Weaver ..now you're cooking. But I warn you this thread is not known for its subtlety. In football poker the player still holds the cards..Savage will be at Portsmouth.
