You're right, we wouldn't be where we are now if Souness hadn't sold our best goal-scorer. But that's another debate. -
Period? Never heard of them. Sound like a feminist rock band to me. Led Zeppelin are great though. I think you mean The Donnas...

The greatest band ever. Period.

It's only good business if you actually make use of it. -
According to Bruce he 'helped them get into Europe.' So?

Any racist abuse he may have received is clearly not on. You'd think that the week's events may have opened some eyes. Anyway, any stick he received is warranted I'm afraid. In his time at the club he did little of note save for living and playing off his reputation and earning a hefty sum of money in the process. Whistle all you want.

I lied, I watched most of the second half following my brother's roar from the living room when Reid stuck it home. We were much improved, Reid especially. The defence though is still abysmal. -

A first half lesson in the abject state of our side. No skill, no talent and no balls. I'm not going to watch the second half. Pathetic. -

Oh well thats OK then. We'll just have to let em carry on regardless I suppose. There's no point in trying to alter things for the better is there? You will prob recognise the shocking bit Matt when something similar befalls a female friend or member of your family from people previously 'instructed' by these primitive barstewards. Well the way you're going on, it's bound to happen sooner rather than later. Should I start shopping every Muslim I see now or wait a couple of days? -

What about this f***er? He mustn't haven't done it then... Theno, if these evil Imams have no respect for women in their own comunity, why on earth are they going to respect women from the wider community? It's hardly shocking. -
Incidentally, did anyone see Wife Swap last night...? Good God! Burberry bed-sheets!

Surely that's you in the middle? I take it that's a Manowar concert.

Marsh has obviously built up some sort of antipathy to Rovers. We are steadily improving, that much is obvious. Let him bluster away, he's a crap pundit anyway. -

Please spare us all such feeble and empty statements Matt, and explain what you mean. This 'liberal' agenda or whatever it is that is constantly referred to is preferable to our society being run by the ill-informed hordes who see things in black in black and white and move to administer justice through some sort of crazed mob ceremony. Quite why the 'liberal elite' would want child molesters roaming around our streets praying on kids is beyond me. Yes the laws are weak, but this problem has always existed. Only now is it rightfully coming to the fore. Personally I'm all for these hateful acts being punished by much harsher sentencing. As a civilized society though, are we not above exacting brutal punishments as they do in 'backward' facing cultures such as, erm...Islam? -

Highly unlikely indeed ! But this bloke has been getting away with it for 40 years , and despite being captured before will undoubtedly be plying his trade again in a few years time . What a wonderful liberal society we live in ..... No honestly, it is highly unlikely. Believe it or not Phil, the alternatives to that 'liberal society' we live in, are much worse. -

So leave them in there, society's dregs, who cares ? You know what? I can't disagree with that at all... The reporting of the crimes has gone up. This sort of thing has always gone on. Sexual abuse within the family circle is statistically higher than any activities of dirty old men who live with their mothers. I have no problem about locking up these people. For good if necessary. Yet, whether you like it or not, this sort of deviancy is a severly disturbing illness. Why shouldn't it be addressed? -

As a law student you should know the answer to that one , Matt - it's because the legal system hasn't sufficient power or will to deal with such people. The liberal elite who run this country in a manner that is an affront to democracy now wholly determine the criminal justice agenda . They will never accept that the policies they have pursued for decades have resulted in utter failure and have resulted in situation were whole swathes of society are virtually imprisoned in their own homes. Phil, I doubt that has anything to do with the child abusers running around our streets. Yes, the law is stupidly weak on this point but to start harking on about the apparent evils liberalism is quite blinkered. What would the obverse be? Giving up these people to the tabloid fuelled mob who understand little about the pyschological illness that afflicts these men (and women)? The penchant for abusing children is just that, a sickness. Not a 'sickness' in the screaming Sun/Mirror sense of the word, rather a severe mental disorder that must be addressed in all cases. Behind bars of course. Simply locking up sex offenders does little to fix the problem. They learn to refine their predatory techniques when mixing with others of their ilk. Instead serious pyschiatric counselling is needed to help all of society and keep us safe from the minority of reported, non-family member sexual abusers. -

From Tim in the other thread. Sounds a lot like the problems that face us here in the US. It has been shown that the only way to treat most of these people is to have them chemically castrated. Having them castrated is not going to cull their need to feel power of their victims, one of the driving forces behind sexually offensive behaviour. As for this guy's he's clearly a danger, although the hysteria of the Mirror piece in particular takes away somewhat from the cold hard facts about the case. Why are these people released back into society though? The mind boggles. -

Svensson, who hasn't scored since April, has put Norwich ahead. They haven't won in the Premiership for 10 years. Was it ever going to be any different? I didn't expect us to make it so easy for them. Spineless. -
