[Archived] More Madness From Mcclaren
neekoy replied to RevidgeBlue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I am starting to feel the same way about Muddlesbrough as I do about Newfarcestle and Boringham McLaren, for as nice as he is, is bloody useless. -
That is unbelievable, I thought that he was waiting for a Manc or Madrid offer but Rangers? Talk about taking a step back in your career, I suppose the man likes a challenge.
-
Funny you should say that Amo, Brisbane was actually named after Sir Thomas Makdougall Brisbane who was in fact Scottish.
-
I think Souness for England with Kidd as his assistant
-
Moore came from Mochengladbach
-
I say let them have Bellers back...........for 20 million

For those trying to poach Aussie Gus of us, thought I would post this excerpt to clear it all up "But agent Cees van Nieuwenhuizen said: "He is happy with PSV this season and then after this he will concentrate on Australia and the World Cup. He then has one more year with PSV. "After that if something comes up he will look at it but it does not make sense to comment. There has been no contact. "There is a reference in his contract if a top club would come by and wanted to have a discussion we are allowed to have that discussion, but in that clause there is not a reference to a federation - except he can go to a World Cup with a federation, in this case Australia." Unlucky, now bugger off and leave the genius alone
-
Fair enough Eddie, I juts thought it would have been a much more sensible comparison if Walcoot was compared to someone who was picked for England at a young age and has gone on to accomplish something in his career. Even someone like Owen would have been far more suitable.
-
Joey, I am completely lost on the how the Wooney discussion came about, I believe the point was made by someone that Walcoot could achieve as much as Rooney if they chose him for the England team, to my response of Rooney really hasn't achieved that much, which started the whole Wooney discussion. There have been some who have already picked Walcoot in the World Cup squad, he is in the best 5 forwards currently ready for picking? I feel pity for the England talent pool if that is the case. The appealing comment looks to have been misinterpreted. It was purely meant as, I would rather Shearer in my team then Wooney, and history (so far) backs me up. And it looks as though I am on the same planet as you, Jupiter right?
-
No need to hope. Aussie Gus is a genuine man and manager (one of the few left) he will be here until after the World Cup, then maybe you can have a shot at him, but I think post world cup there is a seat waiting for him at Old Trafford.
-
Well it's a wonderful story IHB, good on the lad, but ultimately records will tell the story of his career. All I am saying is that at this point in time, the Rooney records don't speak anything above being a good player in a big team. Agreed achievements come in many sizes and forms, but other then the romantic fairytale of a young man realising his dreams, on the books he hasn't achieved squat. If you add Shearers one trophy with the fact he is the Premierships highest ever goal scorer AND that the only player looking like catching his record is Owen on about 100 goals less AND he reached this record playing for minor clubs like Southampton, (with all due respect) Rovers and Newcastle and he looks a little more appealing.

Very much so, here you have a pig of a man but out and out the best manager you have available and the English can't stop trying to hang him up high. If ANY of those 25 English manager named is brought in, England will not go past the first knockout round. None of them have even succeded at domestic level, let alone leading the nation out to battle on the biggest stage of them all. They will be eaten alive, save for one or two showreel moments from Rooney
-
I didn't say he was rubbish, I simply asked what has he achieved? The comment was how good it would be for Walcoot to join the English squad because "look what Wooney has achieved" Sure he is a good player, but he has achieved f'all in footballing terms
-
And what praytell has he achieved?
-
Bloody hell, why don't the English set up an academy at the birthing wards The guy hasn't played a top draw game yet and you already getting the England number 9 suited up What a joke
-
Am I the only one thinking "He is 16" Give the kid a chance to develop ffs.
-
I see him play, in Champs League as well as Serie A, and Saha isn't within a breath of Scheva. It is black and white, there can only be so many great or world class players. Saha wouldn't be in my tenth string world team. But that is not to say I wouldn't mind him at the front of our midfield. Luke Chadwick played for United as well, does that make him World Class? Although I agree with your statement, I think if you look at the benches of Chelsea, Madrid, Milan, Inter and Barca, your statement is slightly flawed when talking about big clubs.

[Archived] Premiership Final Table Prediction
neekoy replied to brfcshabba's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I've only got Chelski so far, but I have about 12 teams that are one place above or below where I initially put them, so the end of the season is looking not bad -
At least Ferguson realised his mistakes and sold them off. People are sentimental because he was the manager when were promoted, but any half decent manager at the time could've done it with the talent we had. The squad we had at promotion and the year following was a top 6 team, with or without Souness. I still to this day have never seen anything astute in the tactical nouse of the man. If Tugay hadn't been playing for Rangers and Friedel hadn't played for Liverpool and Galatasary then I don't think he would have signed them.
-
For every decent signing he also signed a stinker For every Friedel there's a Gresko, for every Tugay there is an Amo
-
Just imagine what we could have accomplished with a decent manager

[Archived] Jansen Rips Up Contract
neekoy replied to Wild Irish Rover's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Have already removed him from my Football Manager game. He has to go now then due to the amount of time it actually takes to change some details on that bloody editor. -
Are they the famous Solano twins? Every name there has something in common, they have all been rated as future superstars at some point in their careers but none have yet made the grade.
