  1. Booked flights and accomodation today. £60 return from stansted to linz. Linz is bout 50 miles east of salzburg on main train route. 7 of us going fly out tuesday come bak saturday. Cheapest could get. First night in Linz. Booked remaining nights in hostel in centre of Salzburg. About 11quid each per night. Few hostels on hostelworld.com if anyone doing it on cheap but check location coz some of em are in midddle of nowhere. Bit concerned if we only get 700 tickets tho! seems to be lot of interest in going to this one.
  2. 7 official club nicknames in the top 4 english divisions are species of bird?
  3. random shout. whose that player we signed from rangers in 1991? stuart munroe? did he play for spurs or hearts?!
  4. 3 players have scored hatricks for 3 different premiership clubs since it began in 1992? 4 players have played for rovers and barcelona? ps re initial question, has darren anderton not played in every premier league season?
  5. I still think we'll take 2,000. I checked with ticket office few days ago they said tickets available on the day. Theres few of us going and some are gettin their tickets up there. I think quite a few rovers fans will go up at last minute. I remember huddersfield away few years back. We sold about 1000 tickets before the match but ended up taking about 4000.
  6. Last time i saw amoruso he was in roxy in darwen! sums it up! A major factor that is killing rovers attendances, and its been referred to in previous posts, is the fact that most rovers games are on foreign sky in the local pubs. My local pub runs a bus to rovers home games. When we played man utd at home in the league, there were more rovers fans in the pub watchin the game on turkish tv then on the bus who actually went to the game. There again, the fact it was £30 for a ticket, i can appreciate why the casual rovers fan would watch it in the pub! The foreign sky in pubs is useful for showing away games. However, regarding home games, its killing our attendances. I believe the only way forward is to reduce ticket prices. Why not reduce tickets for a one off game for all age brackets, not just kids. Remember when it was a fiver against sheff utd and huddersfield. The latter game was on tv and there were nearly 30k in ewood! Reducing ticket prices in general would get the proper footy/rovers fan (ie 18-35 lad) out of the pub and back on ewood.
  7. Personally I think this is being a bit naive. I no a few lads from ossy/accy area who are rovers fans at heart but refuse to pay £30 to get on ewood. (ie they are kind of fans who go on ewood a few games a season and big away games) Recently, with stanleys resergence, they have started watching their home town team more than rovers. They may never stop supporting rovers but could potentially choose to go and watch stanley instead. In same respects what if darwen ever became a pro club again (never gonna happen!). I reckon many darwen folk would stop watching rovers because ultimately darwen is their home town team.
  8. I would have Dunny back in the summer definetely. From a footballing point of view his creative driving runs from midfield are something we are lacking at the minute. Plus he scores goals. Without being critical to savage or tugay they are not that kind of player. Reid can run with the ball but his end product is seldom effective. Added to the fact he is a local lad who grew up supporting the team. He was a cult hero with rovers fans and a return to Ewood will only improve the general atmosphere and possibly boost gates.
  9. Absolute Rubbish! At away games we are far more vocal without these sad bums banging away. On ewood, any decent football song that gets going is usually drowned out by these idiots banging 'get into em'. Take the drums away, decent rovers songs of the past will get going again and ewood may once again become quite a partisan place. The drums are an embarrassment for our club. I cringed watching him bounce around with his drum on motd on saturday night. Its a footy ground not a playschool. Time to get 'drummer out' song going round ewood. Be the loudest chant ever heard on ewood. Take note John Williams
  10. Went into the club shop over xmas to buy a dvd/video of the review/goals of last season. You would assume it to be a pretty standard product readily available. After all we are a premiership club and I have numerous rovers season review videos of the last 15 years. Asked the assistant and was told they don't sell them anymore. I was quite p***** off. After all, any football fan loves watchin a season review from years gone by. Still get a buzz watchin the rovers return 1992 video! Its a shame I wont be able to look back at the present era in 10 years time. Is it just rovers or have other clubs stopped making them? A mate from uni is a chester fan and he got their last seasons review dvd. ps lets have a club shop that sells rovers memoribila, not a glorified market store that sells cheap tack and goes under the name of sports soccer/world.
  11. After reading some of these posts, Im sick of various people sticking up for the club on this matter. The club dropped a major boll**k last night, whether some people like it or not. In these weather conditions, you would expect matches to be called off on pleasington fields on a sunday morning, but not at a premiership club with state of the art facilites. Games were played at league 1 clubs tranmere and huddersfield, all within a 30-40 radius of blackburn. How come in similar temperatures their undersoil heating adequately withstood the conditions? Why were these league 1 outfits better prepared for the bad weather? At least bolton had the decency to admit a cock up! Yesterday was a chance to regain some of our lost support. A number of my friends who hadn't been all season had tickets for last nights match. Straight away they returned them for a refund, as Im sure a lot of people did. The least the club can do is reduce prices for the rearranged game. Burnley reduced their prices against stoke and had a massive crowd. The club cannot simply hide behind the weather as an excuse. Somewhere along the line a massive cock up was made which left 20k+ blackburners p****d off
  12. Are you actually going yourself? The reason I ask is that generally it seems the people who make the most noise about our level of support don't go themselves. People who find the club "embarrassing" because of our followings really get on my nipples. It's all about supporting your team, your club. What does it really matter to you if x thousand people you've never met choose to go or not? It's a matter of choice, it's not compulsory, and you can't force anyone to go. More to the point where were all these people "embarrassed" now by 20,000 gates when we were getting 7,000 gates in the 80's in division 2 or even 4,000 in division 3 in the 70's? Probably not even born then but if they were no doubt they wouldn't have supported us because it would be far too "embarrassing" being associated with such an unfashionable club or being seen in such a small crowd. A "proper" fan (God I hate that phrase) would support us no matter what and wouldn't be particularly concerned if there were 3,000 or 30,000 like minded souls alongside him or her. (Although obviously the latter is nicer) And if I read once more that someone going to this one off game is more of a "proper" fan than a season ticket holder who forks out his money season after season I think I'll scream. RANT OVER: P.S. After all the hot air expended on this thread it's a 4am start, it's live on TV, it's mostly £45 per head with no reductions for kids, we currently average only 19,000 at home with 14,000 season ticket holders. Yet we're now looking like taking a respectableish 16,500. Much ado about nothing? If you must have a moan direct it at the FA not your fellow supporters. NOW CAN WE FINALLY GET DOWN TO TALKING ABOUT THE ONLY THING THAT REALLY MATTERS? TRYING TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO WIN THIS BLOODY GAME OF FOOTBALL!!! Yes I am going! RANT OVER! Comon Rovers!
  13. because we took 30k to cardiff 3 years ago at a 2pm kick off, although it was a final but of a much lesser competition. because we took 33k to wembley in 92 when we were a much smaller club. because, Id guess we took far more to the meaningless charity shield games, certainly v united in 94, than the 16 - 17k we are taking to cardiff on sunday. because, id guess 25 - 30 k, although i stand to be corrected, went to wembley in 87 v charlton, in the era when we did get the 7k gates you refer to. Thats why our following for the semi should be much bigger than it is now. The above facts show how our following for the coming semi is abysmal, and embarassing. Were not a one man and his dog outfit, the above shows for our big occasions in recent years we have churned out some very good followings. Where are they now? I understand there will be rovers fans (families) staying at home because they couldnt afford £180 for tickets plus travel etc. Thats understandable. However, for many other rovers 'fans', it was a case of couldn't be bothered to go, and cost, travel, time provided an excuse not to go. ps. as for people on this thread criticising myself and others for raising our views on the subject, I do believe this particular thread is concerned with the lack of support at cardiff, and that we are entiltled to our views, however unpopular with some.
  14. 15 k is pathetic and embarrasing for a premiership club in its first fa cup semi final in 45 years, no matter how many people on this forum try and excuse it. Somebody previously said on this thread 15k is a tremendous hardcore following. No its not, its rubbish! I haven't seen the attendance for the ldv vans game on sunday but i would guess southend and wrexham had similar followings! I accept families are hindered by the cost, travel, time etc. However, my big gripe, as stated on another thread, is that come saturday, every pub in blackburn, darwen, accy etc will be packed with plastic rovers fans p***** their money away, at the same time complaining how they couldn't afford to go. Nationally, we are fast getting the reputation as a badly supported team. I wouldnt be so bothered but we do have the numbers as shown by 30k to cardiff 2002 and 33k wembley 92. Its just annoying many of these choose not to go and support the rovers these days. People in our town don't no how lucky they are to have a premiership club on their doorstep. Its nothing to do with money and being unable to afford to go. Sadly its pure apathy!
  15. Niklas Gudmonnson, Anders Anderson, simon ireland, craig skinner are all contenders for worst rovers players ever that I remember. matt dickens the worst keeper ever, for palming a shot that was flying into b'burn end back into the net v wolves. He closely followed by darren collier. what about lee richardson? I remember he come on as sub at wembley 92, beat 3 players down left than tripped over ball. Lads older than me refer to someone called tony diamond. Apparently he was dreadful, before my time though so cant comment. can't believe somebody said gordan cowans, he was pure class
  16. About time people stopped sticking up for the stayaway 'fans'. The fact of the matter is this town doesn't deserve a premiership club; the size of our current fanbase and the attitude of some folk resembles that of a football league club. Ive never heard so much garbage for people not attending a our first fa cup semi final in 45 years. Im sick of hearing 'well I was there in the 70's and 80's.' Whats that got to do with staying away from next weeks semi final. Yes, it was wrong to play it in cardiff, its a silly kick off time and its a tad expensive. But so what! Its affordable, its our biggest game in a decade and its an experience that might never happen again. Personally I will find it embarrasing when there are 15k rovers their next saturday. And before the 'stayaways' start crying that they can't afford, I guarantee they'll be p***** their money away in the pub next saturday. Bring it on 4am start!!!
  17. agreed! A lot of em are nothing but little hitlers! Not all of em tho. Mainly those who sometimes go to away games and those who walk round in their suits and ear pieces, thinking they are on some kinda top secret covert operation. Pathetic!
  18. Yeh if there seats remaining you should be able to get transferred I would have thought. I do it often for normal home matches, get season ticket transferred before match to other areas of ground to sit with mates. Ticket office usually fine about it
  19. Maybe a 40 minute wait this morning but I heard there was no one there this afternoon. The fact remains, ticket fiasco or no ticket fiasco earlier in week, no excuses for rovers fans not going to this game. £20 to see oldest derby in footy in fa cup 5th round, why haven't we sold out yet? personally, i think it'll be embarrassing if come tues there are empty seats in home areas
  20. Just wondering if anyone on here can update with ticket sales and how many are in fact left? I don't wanna sound 'ticket obsessed' but if we can't sell out 22-23k for this one we really are worse supported than i thought. Its a disgrace that we havent sold out yet
  21. Some friends of mine are spurs fans and are attending saturdays game. The first thing they asked is "have you still got that pathetic annoying drummer?" Am I alone on this forum in believing that the drummer is making our fans and atmosphere a laughing stock? Some mates of mine refuse to go on ewood these days because of the 'kiddy' atmosphere there is now. Any proper footy songs we usually start singing (eg no nay never or u r my sunshine) are usually drowned out by that clown banging 'get into em', the worst chant in the history of chants! Plus, particularly at away games, we are more vocal without the drummer. I think its time we got rid of the drum! Its time we recreated the partisan atmosphere of ewood in the past! BAN THE DRUMMER!
