  1. Twitter rumour circulating that Brighton have made Van Hecke available. Yes I know it’s probably a load of codswallop!
  2. I’m in that bracket. I’m going to renew next week for my sons sake who desperately wants to go. But for him I probably wouldn’t have bothered. Whilst JDT has impressed, I really can’t take to our CEO. He treats the loyal season ticket holders as £ sign mugs. Everything about the entire season ticket holder experience has gone down hill under his stewardship. Vastly inflated prices for rubbish beer, catering gone down hill (apart from the Biryani!), struggle to get served at half time due to bar closures, reduced club cash so it’s barely worth it, no decent deals for cup games etc. He shouldn’t be trying to penny pinch from loyal season ticket holders. If anything I spend less in the club shop due to the reduction in club cash! I’ve got a couple of mates who have said they aren’t renewing. They begrudge paying the most expensive season ticket prices in this part of the world. Whether they succumb at the last minute I do not know.
  3. I’ve been a season ticket holder for over 30 years & genuinely contemplating not renewing this time out. I’m utterly fuming with the season ticket prices. I honestly believe Waggott & co don’t care a single iota for the loyal local ‘mug’ who forks out every year for season tickets. He seems to bend over backwards for everyone else but your loyal season ticket holder! Local community buses, flashy international flexi ticket etc but let’s completely rip off the loyal season ticket holder. It’s also noted that club cash has decreased a lot in his tenure! Waggot must be on another planet if he thinks he can charge £120-150 more than a similar club 10 miles to the west. Or for that matter more expensive than every other club in this area and even same price as Man City! If he has the humility & foresight to accept he’s got it wrong, reduce prices to £300, then I will renew immediately. As I suspect an extra circa 5,000 would do, resulting in greater income in any event!
  4. I’ve just had a quick look and looks about 300. I’m reckon there will be 1500 in there come Saturday 3pm
  5. Just seen a video on twitter of around 30-40 Bolton staff and stewards clearing the snow off the pitch. It is pretty much clear now. Proper hands to the pump effort with everyone mucking in. Rovers on the other hand……..
  6. Spot on. The work Yasir Sufi is doing to attract and engage the Asian Community is to be commended. However the club cannot abandon trying to attract the next generation from the traditional support base. I just feel this is being neglected and i am not the only one who feels this. My kids go to a primary school in Whitehall Darwen which has always been a core Rovers area. I think the school had 1-2 visits from Rovers community trust in the league 1 season but have had nothing since. It hasn’t gone unnoticed. It’s basically been left to the fervent supporting Rovers parents like me to drum our kids to be Rovers fans and not succumb to the glory of the big clubs. Accy Stanley do more to get the kids in than Rovers.
  7. I hope he does play. I don’t like jeering previous players; I will make an exception for this one
  8. Rothwell is either incredibly naive / stupid or very thick skinned. Surely he must know that a move to Bournemouth, and if that hypothetically propels them to promotion and derails our chances, means he will be detested by Rovers fans for the rest of his career. He must know the recent history of our club and how this seems very much a ‘now or never’ chance of getting back to the PL and securing the foreseeable future of the club. He will also surely be derided by his Rovers team mates. Usually a transfer is just a transfer and not taken personally by the other players. However this is different. This is potentially the only shot most of our players will get at playing in the PL. As well as career progression, the financial impact for the other players, and the potential for them and their families to be made for life, cannot be underestimated! Notwithstanding the venkys promotion bonus! When I first posted this rumour on here on Friday I genuinely hoped it was nonsense!
  9. Not at all. I’ve been posting on here on & off for 20 years and wouldn’t do that. Someone claimed on Facebook this morning that they know one of Rothwell’s family and he has asked to leave. Not beyond the realms of possibility that he knows someone given Rothwell is a Manchester lad. Then a good friend (who also used to post on here) said he’d been told same thing by someone who has contacts at Rovers, and that apparently it’s his wife who is pushing it. Latest one on FB is that Rothwell hasn’t travelled to Luton and has been told to have the weekend off. I reiterate that I hope it’s a load of nonsense…… but just passing on what my mate told me and also what’s flying around on FB.
  10. Rumours flying around that Rothwell has asked to leave for Bournemouth. The latest rumour is his Mrs wants to move to the south coast. I hope it’s wrong but just passing on what I’ve been told. If it’s true hopefully Rovers stand firm.
  11. I went to the ticket office yesterday to purchase an additional Hull ticket. I was told there have been around 1200 refunded tickets. The original following was 2,900 so at least 1700 still going. Hopefully darrenrover’s 2500 figure is more accurate than the info I was given!
  12. Touché! I’m with Chaddy on this. I want myself and my kids to get on with life, keep going to work / school, keep going to the Rovers and live life as opposed to exist. In my opinion, people clamouring for everyone and everything to lockdown are self absorbed and self centred! If people want to self lockdown and stay at home, that’s their prerogative. Just don’t coerce it on the rest of us who want to crack on with life!
  13. First time I’ve posted on here for 18 months. I’m personally looking forward to today. I think the gate will surpass 10,000. I can only speak for my circle of mates but whilst a lot haven’t got season tickets, most are paying on the day today. Indeed a couple who were moaning that they weren’t going have buckled this morning. I sincerely hope that’s a pattern which follows amongst other local fans this morning. This is why it’s imperative Mowbray gets them fired up today (I have little faith that will happen!). We haven’t won the opener for 10 years. A win today and an entertaining game could boost season ticket sales. Swansea have had a torrid pre season and now is the best time to play them. I’ve read through all the moaning and whining on here about various reasons why fans aren’t going. As tempting as it is to watch the cricket at home, I feel duty bound to go and support my local club. I accept the club are a complete shambles from top to bottom but I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else today other than Ewood. Across the Twitter and Facebook spectrum our fanbase is getting dogs abuse due to the pathetic 6k season tickets sold. Fans of Bolton, Coventry, etc who’ve sold a lot more season tickets than us, and had it a lot tougher than us in recent years, aren’t interested in the ‘venkys’ excuses. They just think we have a terrible ‘tin pot’ fan base. I raise this hoping it at least galvanises 1-2 folk on here to cave in and get to Ewood today!
  14. He did support Rovers when growing up. He was certainly mascot as a kid and I believe was a season ticket holder. Chorley lad where we’ve always had a decent following over the years. I don’t condone the comments you refer to though.
  15. As I’ve said it would be covid compliant and no different to attending a standard restaurant or pub...... and might actually save a number of clubs, venues and jobs in the sporting industry.
  16. I respect that opinion but I don’t necessarily agree with it. I’ve been to Haydock races on a Saturday afternoon! I’ve been to a good few feisty friday night t20 Roses matches in the middle of summer! I follow Salford at rugby league and I’ve seen a couple of incidents! Plus German, Dutch, Italian etc football have their fair share of idiots but you can watch the game with a pint. I think the alcohol ban during matches at British football has created a culture of getting ‘tanked up’ pre match. When I go cricket, rugby league and horse racing I feel less inclined to drink before as I know it’s available during the event
  17. Yes you are correct it is law. Scandalous really when you can drink and watch at any other sport, and indeed at football matches in most other countries!
  18. Thanks for replying. You’re correct there is the rule but that could still remain in place (as ridiculous as it is). They would just need to shut the curtains for the duration of half time and prohibit alcohol consumption during play.
