  1. Nearly as bad as my rugby league club that once signed a guy with one leg ! They went to scout a guy in deepest Wales only to approach his twin brother in the club house after the game. They offered him a signing on fee without knowing he’d lost the bottom half of his leg when he was in the army !
  2. It’s a wonder to me that we get the attendance numbers we do. Blackburn must be a town of masochists.
  3. If we do go down selling him will be the reason why.
  4. Well we now know what the line up will be next Saturday.
  5. 1 point from 2 eminently winnable home games isn’t good enough.
  6. Blackpool got relegated years ago after being out of the drop zone for all but the last ten minutes of the season.
  7. I can’t see Derby doing a Rotherham or not investing.
  8. It’s been a shocker and I’ve seen my share of bad seasons. This is up there with the worst.
  9. I’ve got a black “ Lacoste “ polo shirt ( made in France, not Peru ) that must be 32 years old and it still looks brand new ! And it still fits me.
  10. Great chippy. No home game was complete without a visit to the Hake Bost. Usually before a game.
  11. The Four Tops - Baby I Need Your Loving
  12. We didn’t when we had the chance.
  13. Leicester already promoted then. Is that good or bad for us ?
  14. I’m guessing that is the home match with Preston on Saturday October 11th 1958. Rovers won 4-1. It looks like Dave Whelan 2 stood by the goal post, Bill Eckersley beyond him and Ally MacLeod beyond Eckersley. Harry Leyland in goal, Mick McGrath in centre ground. Bryan Douglas looking on in the distance. Our scorers were Douglas, Vernon and Whelan 2. I believe Whelan was injured and as was the way when there was no subs back in the day he was moved up front to be a nuisance and he scored twice. Rovers team - Leyland Whelan, Eckersley Clayton, Woods, McGrath Douglas, Dobing, Johnson, Vernon, MacLeod Played in front of a crowd of 39,075 ! That explains the packed Riverside.
  15. Rufus Thomas - Walking The Dog
  16. Neil Diamond - Cherry, Cherry
  17. Don And Juan - What’s Your Name
  18. Ned Miller - From A Jack To A King
  19. I must be TKMaxx’s best customer. One of my favourite purchase’s was a pair of replica New York Cosmos shirts, one home, one away, with the “ Pele “ No 10 letters and numbers sewn on. Brilliant quality, I I can’t recall who made them, it might have been “ Umbro” . They are both out in our flat in Spain at the moment.
  20. Yes, I agree with 4-2-3-1 on Saturday.
  21. Whilst we are on the subject of “ Adidas “ Samba trainers. I bought a pair a while ago. Black leather with a sort of corrugated tongue. They squeak like nothing on earth when you wear them. It’s that bad Mrs Shoelaces has refused to let me wear them when we go out together ! The problem is the tongue. Anybody else come across this issue and if so - how did you cure it ? I’ve tried talcum powder and it only works for so long.
  22. Yeah I bought a “ Yeti “ - it’s a sort of very thin puffer style jacket but made fom some sort of magic ingredients. It’s so warm I can only wear it two months of the year. The rest of the time it’s in my ward robe. They started out making sleeping bags for the German Army. I used to dress really smartly. Nice suits, best quality shirts and ties etc. When you’re were wearing overalls all day it was nice to have a change. I just wear casual stuff now. I’m going out later so I’ll be wearing “ Puma “ Oslo City trainers , dark “ Pantherella “ socks, dark blue “ Wrangler “ jeans ( not distressed or with holes in ! ), “ DSquared “ underpants , a black/brown “ CP Company “ shirt, black “ John Smedley “ sweater, and a thin light blue “ Montane “ sort of zip up rain top. All of those came from TkMaxx apart from the “ John Smedley “ sweater the came from the late and much lamented “ Jenners “ of Edinburgh.
