  1. Yeah from the point were the armed escort started shooting the place up it was just plain silly. Why did they need an armed guard ? How did the armed guard get himself allocated to that duty ? Why after a pre planned operation did they have to run for miles when they escaped from the building ? Why did the Range Rover go round and round the block after the escape ? Would somebody risk a long range shot like the woman copper did ? Would they hit the target with one shot ? Who was the driver who shot " Dot " Cotton ? I was really disappointed. The rest of the series was great.
  2. Final episode of " Line Of Duty " tonight.
  3. I remember Roy Vernon playing for Everton, he'd left Rovers when I first got interested. He was a striker and he captained Everton for a few seasons. He was one of the best penalty takers I ever saw. Every one driven with the laces straight into either bottom corner. Practically un stoppable. I never saw him miss one anyway. I never thought he was a particularly rough player but a former England star whose name I've forgotten had him in his " All Time 11 Dirtiest Players. " list. Terry Paine, Johnny Giles, Peter Osgood and Johnny Morrisey were the other forwards. He died quite young but by all accounts he was a very heavy smoker.
  4. If it's what went through my family a week or so ago they'll feel like crap for a few days. As you say, early days yet but something must be happening at Wakefield. I just hope it's not more Aussies over here.
  5. Mm, what position does he play ?
  6. Wakey 62- Wigan 0 . What's going on ?
  7. They probably don't actually know we played tonight.
  8. I was only thinking about that when I typed my comment. They were only in the relegation zone for the about the last ten minutes of their last game. That's all it takes though. They'd been near the top at Xmas. That's why I'm never complacent.
  9. I'm not complacent about these things but you'd get pretty good odds against us going down now. I wonder how the guy that backed us to go down when we sold " he who shall not be named " is going on now ?
  10. Don't know what that was all about. You don't mess with the players in Rugby League though.
  11. Give over guys. There's only one contender - Bryan Douglas.
  12. Nah, he wouldn't be able to cope with all the excitement Clayton.
  13. I'm another Rugby League season ticket holder albeit at a lower level. My wife and myself also sponsor a player. She does the P.A. before and during the game. The guy we sponsor is a PE teacher away from the game and a super bloke. He's also the goal kicker so we get plenty of publicity. It's great entertainment. Until very recently I've been more excited watching 'em blow the balls up before the game that I have been actually watching Rovers. You should try it.
  14. Let Jim do that. I think we need to get to 50 points first.
  15. We'll we did it ! It wasn't pretty but France played the best they've played for ages and made it hard for us. Discipline still a problem though, 3 tries to nil but seven penalties keep them in the game right to the death.
  16. Our goal difference is worth another point at the moment.
  17. Come on England let's get the job done tonight. Let's see if we can keep 15 players on the pitch for the whole 80 minutes for once.
  18. Don't you know you never beat Wales, you just score more points than them.
  19. On another topic - what's gone wrong with the scrums in Union ? Every second scrum is a mystery penalty. The Union guys used to laugh at Rugby League scrums but at least they're not a shambles. In the old days the ball went in straight, the hookers struck, the ball moved swiftly out to the back of the scrum and away you went. That very rarely happens now. All the teams seem to feed their own hooker and nothing happens.
  20. We still haven't learnt have we ? We were cruising, only one team in it for 60 minutes. Wales were nowhere. Then we self destruct. Discipline and decision making went out the window again along with our defence at the end. We won OK but 3 tries to 1 down feels like a defeat. Another 5 minutes and we would have lost that game.
  21. If I were them I'd take the hit this season. I know they're battling hard to stay up but it's starting to look like they will struggle to beat the drop. Better to take the deduction now and start afresh next season.
  22. I think you're correct. At the start of the season I was convinced we'd had it and I was convinced the Dingles would win both games comfortably. If things hadn't have changed I think I may have been right.
  23. Interesting to hear about the upping of tempo and a more professional attitude at the club.
