  1. Not sure his age is the sticking point. Conor Bradley and Quansah are only 21, as is Harvey Elliott, Gravenberch 22. They'll play them if they're good enough.....
  2. Ah fair enough I've only just woke up so thought it was Nixon only story. Not overly against it, back up players being loans makes sense for us, not so much for the clubs loaning them out though....
  3. The Beck story may well just be a speculative punt from Nixon tbh. We've got a track record of loaning youngsters from Liverpool and seem to do so pretty much every window, LB is a position we're looking to strengthen, so it would add up. Personally I liked Chrisene last season, but he wasn't being considered ahead of Pickering either so I don't think his first team place is under threat. He does always pick up knocks though.
  4. Travers would be a superb signing, the fella he's trying to oust, Neto, was superb at times today
  5. Asking and getting are 2 different things though. I could ask Kelly Brook nicely for a handjob, doesn't mean I'd get it.
  6. The Ruddy obsession means he's obviously after an experienced keeper, which I understand but theres surely better options, also makes Rushworth unlikely....
  7. They'll get nothing like that for him, again though, not what we need regardless
  8. Because he literally signed a new contract last year?
  9. 3.5m? No way Wigan can demand that sort of fee if the player expresses an interest in leaving. Not really what we need anyway....
  10. Dear oh dear they seem to be in absolute meltdown the twats down the road it's brilliant 🤣 Seeing comments about a fire sale, Pace out, no chance of promotion etc etc after the team they fielded yesterday and the result. I must admit I was fearing the worst but the last week has massively changed things. I'd still take a draw like 👍
  11. Probably an unpopular opinion but I thought Pears played quite well yesterday 🤷 Certainly the save at 0-0 was excellent. We gave them far more chances than I would have liked but Eustace openly admits that's how it will be with the way he wants us to play. I'd definitely be starting Gueye next week to cause some havoc, I think he'll absolutely thrive on the cauldron of hate he's a huge personality you can already tell, he's off his tits.
  12. Carter is vital and it's worrying when he picks up injuries as we're left with 2 experienced yet sluggish centre halves. Could probably cope today without him but next week would be a nightmare.
  13. Really? Expected double that for a newly promoted team
  14. With regards to the loans, the vast majority I've seen go through already are players that would be nowhere near matchday squads. There's probably decisions to be made on the 'better' ones that are on the brink right up till deadline day. Doesn't necessarily mean we'll be in the running like, but we can live in hope...
  15. How many are Oxford bringing? Decent following I imagine.
  16. In fairness the defence around him were also awful/static
  17. I'd take Rushworth, even on loan, over almost all the keepers we've been linked with
  18. Probably the worst time to play Oxford really, they'll be relatively fresh and still a bit of an unknown. They've had a decent start partly due to that, but I expect they'll taill off and ultimately go down. Would be nice to have a convincing win, this is our first rehearsal, with the full dress rehearsal coming midweek before THE one that really counts. They've scored 2 in each of their games so far including the cup so its very hard to imagine a clean sheet. I think we'll see plenty of goals, 3-2 Rovers. Could also do with avoiding any injuries here and hope Carter is just a knock if he's injured. If you're doing a coupon then we're a shoe in for BTTS this season.
  19. I don't watch Scottish football religiously but he's always looked a solid keeper when I've seen him, had a great game against Rangers the other week. Whilst they're still in Europe, just, it's not unrealistic like the Stansfield rumours.
  20. People putting 2 and 2 together. He would however be a great signing.
  21. Not sure about anyone else but found it MUCH easier to purchase one this morning than last time, logged on at 10am and didn't even need to refresh once.
  22. For an outsider looking in, or absent owners in this case, our start to the season probably suggests we're quite well equipped. Certainly the goals scored column looks OK, Swag could easily sell that to them. To us fans, and obviously the manager, there's a clear need for players in certain positions but if we do that it affects the figures and Swags bonus - he ain't gonna be pushing for new additions. My guess is we'll see 2 new faces, at least 1 will be a loan.
  23. I don't want to alarm you further but we don't. It's a week and 2 days now. Given our previous deadline day escapades I wouldn't fancy much happening on the Friday either so practically a week.
  24. Not overly bothered about JE wanting players he's worked with before, it's just that SOME of them aren't particularly appealing. Added to that, it makes more sense signing familiar faces if you're just wanting to steady the ship initially at a club, but it would be nice to show a little ambition and TRY and progress a bit which JE should now be doing. Above all else just get a frigging keeper in NOW, sleepwalking into the dingles game with Pears as #1 makes me not want to watch it. They'll be all too aware he's he can be got at, their fans will be cranking the pressure up on him with abuse and its really not a game for a keeper low on confidence.
  25. I've posted this before but Benson is an absolute grafter and does allsorts at Brockhall outside of his actual job such as general maintenance etc, always the first there and last to leave. Things like that make him well respected and unlikely to be replaced. The reason he does it is most probably because he knows how bloody lucky he is to have the job, he wouldn't get one easily elsewhere. Players obviously speak highly of him, cos he's a decent bloke. So should he be replaced? Yes. Will he? I doubt it. With regards to Pears, some of the stuff he does isn't due to poor coaching though. He makes some very odd decisions and I can't think of a nice way to put this, but to me he just seems a bit simple.
