1) I would too
2) Yes I would
3) I would have brought on Walcott at teh start of the 2nd half of injury time for Lampard - Why? Lennon and Hargreave showed that a bit of pace at teh Portuguese is likely to have got us a goal - nad I think he would have scored/set up a goal. But bringing him on was the mother of all gambles - I think with 11 men on the pitch he would have done - with 10...... Im glad I wasnt the manager.
Thanks Sven 5 years of taking England from the depths of despair after Keegan and the "We're not going to qualify for the world cup" to perrenial top 8 in the world (which is what the quarter finals mean.
Lampard should have scored, as should have Lennon at the end.
Still we're out its over - Beckham's retired McLarens in charge - Long live the king
PLEASE TAKE NOTE - OWEN HARGREAVES -YOU PROVED ME WRONG IM SORRY I DOUBTED YOU - YOU WERE THE BEST ENGLAND PLAYER AND YOU CAN SCORE PENALTIES - IM SORRY FOR ALL THE NASTY THiNGS I SAID ABOUT YOU
Id love to - but I think we've got more chance of beating (HA we couldnt beat an egg) the Germans than the Argentinians
I want the best footballing team on the night/afternoon to win fair and square (cop out or what?)
As for the Belgrano - unfortunately its one of those things that has to happen in war - you take out the enemies most dangerous assests if you can. The crusier was about to pass over some shoals which meant Conqueror couldnt follow it and might well lose it so they took the decision to shoot.
It stopped the rather substantial Argentinian blue water fleet from harrasing the task force, so as a military act it did excellently. And probably saved more lives than if the Belgrano had decided to try and mix it up with the british fleet. The major tradgedy of the Belgrano was the fact that the support ships legged it and didnt pick up the numerous survivors. (not that you can really blame the ships with an unknown nuc boat hanging around)
bad taste? Poor Pun more like, I missed out the tounge in cheek smilie.
It was meant as a bit of light hearted banter as we have no chance of beating Portugal and Brazil/France - let alone beating Argentina as well
We'll take any psyhcalogical advantage we can get.
as upsetting as it is - i think fat boy ronaldo will get it. Although he isnt the lightning fast forward he was in 98 and to some extent 02 - he still gets in the positions to score and brazil will provide the ammo for him.
Who does klose play for and can we buy him please?
Alan Green is in the queue but only after
Waddel, Motson, Lawrenson, Tydsley, Dury, Pleat, Jimmy Arnfield, Ian Wright, Mark Bright and numerous others.
do you think if, and its a big if, by some large miricle that England play argentina in the final - do you think we'll be able to organise a flypast in honour of the great event.
Harriers would be a good idea
not sure, he went in too early and the italian player fell over him. If I was an Italian fan I would have been screaming for a penalty.
Aussies should have gone for the win but sat back - serves them right
Italians are still looking very very fallible and have lost two of their best defenders
Chris Waddle is spouting utter ###### on the radio now
to be fair it would have been hilarious if it had gone to extra time - and helpful as it would knackered out the portuguese that bit more.
Still its doubtful there would have been enough players on the pitch to finish the game.
Is this not the greatest World Cup ever
