  1. OK, but you didn't travel 200 miles did you? After been told the game was on. I am not doubting for one second that the weather caused the game to be off. However, the club should have communicated better that's the issue. Many people rang the club only an hour before it was off. Somebody somewhere will have known something wasn't quite right and it is the clubs duty to make sure everyone knows about it so if there is idiots like me that make a 200 mile round trip they can at least stand a chance of turning round half way there when they ring up to see if the game is on. Game off because of weather. Me annoyed because of Rovers poor communication. I think that's the issue.
  2. Do Wigan have undersoil heating? It's along way from Scunthorpe
  3. Absolutely gutted. A 200 mile round trip for nothing! With the weather over here in Scunthorpe pretty bad to start with I decided to set off a little earlier. I rang the club at 4:30 and was assured the game would definitely be on. I even asked specifically if there was any planned pitch inspections, they told me there was no problems at all. Although at that time I'm not sure what the situation was. I only found out it was postponed when Modi rang me as I was passing the Jack Walker Stand at around 6:15. I am gutted, absolutely gutted. 206 Miles and 4 hours on the road for nothing - they wouldn't even let me in the club shop! I spoke to one one the ground staff outside the Jack Walker Stand he said that at 5:30 he had forked the pitch and there was no problem it was perfectly playable and catering had been given the go-ahead to start preparing the food were his words. He also said Lucas Neill and Craig Bellamy were going mental at the referee for calling it off in the tunnel area. Time to go to bed and forget all about it!!
  4. Rovers really are making me eat my words. I though we'd get tonked. However under Hughes we are made of sterner stuff. Looking at the two games at the start of the week I thought we can win a maximum of one. But to win both and rest MGP in the process is wonderful, Rovers really are doing their best to ensure we have a super Christmas. Roll on Sunderland. Although if there was ever a potential banana skin.....
  5. Sorry to be so negative, however as Jim said we are certain to lose on Boxing day. I have never been surer of a result in a long time. I will quite happily eat my words, but I won't need to. Winning away twice in a 7 days against the same team doesn't happen especially not with Rovers Sunderland games onwards are going to be massive. Anyway Merry Christmas and to all those making the trip boxing day I salute you.
  6. Is there anywhere to listen to the game? (for free)
  7. Yesterday certainly was a game of two halves. I thought Dickov ran himself into the ground and thoroughly deserved a couple of goals. Bentley is looking better and better. But needs to contribute week in week out for 90 mins. However, I think the biggest pat on the back must go to Lucas Neill. Played out of position with a makeshift right back and you could argue the other centre back didn't turn up either and he coped admirably. I have quietly thought to myself for a while he coud captain us one day and yesterday he confirmed what a good team player he is. An entertaining afternoon indeed.
  8. I am absolutely convinced he will come back one day. It would be a great siging on so many levels. Ideally we could do with Brum getting relegated or even better........ Bruce gets sacked and so does Souness. Then Souness takes over at Brum takes them down and sells us Dunny back for 500k. Now that would make me happy.
  9. I now have Max Drive and it is drving me crazy. I can't seem to get the option file from PC to the PS2. I download the file no problem. Then I click on it and winzip comes up, then I extract to the max drive and it appears to be on dongle thing. however, when I come round topluggin it into the PS2 nothing is there!! What am I doing wrong? Computers stress me out
  10. We managed to get an update in our house at uni but my friend supports Bumley (shocking I know) and before I could copy the option file he edited Bumley in over Rovers!! So I have an obivious problem (other then living with a Dingle) Does anybody know a good option file to get for updated kits etc?? I'm not exactly a whizz on PC to PS2 transfers, what do I need? and how does it work? Any help would be super.
  11. I seriously hope he wasn't feigning injury - but you can't blame me for thinking it. I bet I wasn't the only one thinking the same. It's hardly me 'spouting sh*te' he did it before. I just posted what was on my mind and that is hardly a crime.
  12. The first half was horrible and the half time radio rubbish was even worse. Second half we had more energy and we just wore them down until they cracked. There was nothing special about what we did, it was simple and effective. Reid is not good enough at present. Savage for all his faults was missed on Saturday, he really sets the tempo for us and drags others along. Zurab is started to concern me with his calm style of defending, too often he let's the ball bounce or just leaves the ball. However, he is supremely confident and classy on the ball. It's only a matter of time before an Amoruso style blunder let's Toddy back in. A fantastic day but I am worried about Bellamy. Like others the lack of celebration after Kuqi's second made me think. Also is he even injured? I know a wild suggestion but he's done it before and it was cold in the 1/3 empty stadium. Hardly 52,000 at St. James's.
  13. Terrible I know. Once in every so often when I get to Ewood earlier than usual so I have a wander round to watch the players come in. Catching them was never a problem whilst Souness was in charge. However, since Hughes arrived I have always missed them. So last night I asked the stewards and they filled me in. I think it just highlights the differences between Mr. Souness and Hughes. I thought those who didn't know might find it interesting. Little did I know it would only highlight what a poor excuse for a fan I am
  14. That's a leading question. As for the game I can't decide whether 442 leaves us dreadfully open at the back or Huddersfield played excellently. A combination of the both would probably be about right. Bellamy's pace is scary. Their defence may have been a league 1 defence but unless the opposition has Linford Christie and Donovan Bailey at centre half any team will struggle against him. Despite 442 leaving us more vunerable than 451 Bellamy looked far more effective in a two. He is suprisingly unselfish at times. For all Dickov's hard work last season I thought he was awful last night. The only thing that worries me Kuqi isn't exactly blessed with technical ability and that will frustrate the hell out of Bellamy. I'd pair Bellamy with Jansen. Something intersting I only found at last night it that the players arrive 4 to 4 and half hours before kick off for home games. Under Souness they arrived 1 and half hours before kick off. Go figure. An enjoyable night. Although I hear teletext was pretty good.
  15. It's not a case of if you don't go your not loyal or true or whatever. It's case of if you can go you should. I can't be bothered is not an excuse. According to the Hughes on the officail website it looks like Bellamy will start and he hinted at him playing the full ninety, if that's not worth £10, £5 or £3 then I don't know what that is. What Alan said about playing the lotto and watching Rovers is spot on. I want to be there if Bellamy scores a hat-trick or Jansen shows signs that he's comng back or Kuqi hits the target and funnily enough if we get beat 4-0 I want to be there too. Support you team, buy a ticket.
  16. All this 'I can't be bothered to go' rubbish is doing my head in! If you can't afford to go fine, I have no problem with that. But if you simply can't be bothered, you ought to be ashmamed of yourselves. Yes, we are playing boring football and yes Souness came back and stuffed us 3-0, but this is Blackburn Rovers, your Blackburn Rovers and they need you more than ever. Remember the summer when there was no football? What would you have given then for a game like this? £10 at most - a bargain in my eyes. I will be making a 210 mile round trip from Scunthorpe for the game, so those of you closer to Ewood who just can't be bothered should think again. I go to watch Blackburn Rovers because rightly or wrongly I love my club. Every time I go I like to think in some small way I am helping the club and doing my bit. So I'm urging all those who can't be bothered to do your bit and help our club. For all those who who attend the game I salute you.
  17. I was going to post yesterday but though I might say something too knee-jerky. So After a terrible nights sleep and watching the game again this time on telly, I feel a tad better. The first 60 minutes we were the better team no question. Although we weren't exactly peppering their goal with free flowing attacking football, nevertheless we were on top. Shearer's goal changed all that. Bellamy is going to struggle on his own - although his quality and pace was evident for all to see. He's our best player - I say build the team around him. It's a question of players to fit a system? or a system to fit the players? I tink the latter is more appropriate given the team we have. There is no arguement that we are now pretty boring to watch. If it keeps us up I'll be happy. My fear is that we may be drawing our way to relegation quite literally. Let's face it we aren't going to win many as it stands. At the moment I'd say look at West Ham, they see any team outside the top six and their thinking let's go win the game score 2,3,4 whatever it takes. Yes, they'll lose some but it's better to win one and lose 2 rather than draw 2 lose one. I'm not expecting us to go to Old Trafford and score 3, even I'd be tempted to go 451 or whatever it is. However, come the time of the West Brom game we are going to need a victory and a good one at that. Something has to change.
  18. Excellent preview Modi. I fear Bournemouth all over again. I hope the fans will snap up the excellently priced tickets and we'll see 12,000 there. Here's hoping......... Oh yes, and Jansen to score - the perfect stage for his second/third/fourth coming.
  19. I think the result of this game depends how we approach it. Newcastle as much as I dislike them, they are good going forward (although their goals for column might disagree). Defensively however they are shambolic. If we go at them and pin them back we have every chance. On the other hand if we play 451 and play as very tightly we might just play striaght into their hands. I would be extremely tempted to play 433 Bentley, Kuqi and Bellers (if fit) - that would shock GS, who will be expecting 451. ) It's going to be an interesting one - too tight to call. 1-0 either way I would suggest. The most worrying thing about Newcastle is that Owen and Shearer are yet to score this season - A statistic which won't stay like that for much longer.
  20. For a while I have been fearing a big press attack on the cagey 451 formation adopted by so many 'unfashionable' teams, after this game was shown live on Sky I fear we may just get hit with the brunt of the attack. Having said that I'm pleased with a point. Any point away from home is golden. Jansen on his own is a recipe for disaster - he needs to play in a two. Conversely Kuqi is ideal for the lone striker role. He's robust and awkward, I know who the Bolton defence had a harder time against. Nelson was brilliant as usual. He just gets better and better. Zura looked o.k - looks comfortable on the ball. But then again at times so does Lorenzo Amoruso. Savage should be fined for his booking. Matteo's booking was a joke. The major plus from today was Bentley. He looked comfortable and assured on the ball and happy to play with either boot. He's been schooled well and if we use him correctly he could be a real find. All in all a good days work. Roll on Saturday.
  21. The thing with Bolton is you know exactly how they are going to play. Long balls to Davies, long throws to Davies. They just lump it in there and pick up the peices. We have an unsettled defence, I'm worried about this fixture. Although it is one of my favourite games of the season. Everton showed how to win there - Prepare and defend properly you are guaranteed a point. Take your chance and then you have three. Granted they rode their luck in that particular game but they deserved three points from how they defended. Much will depend on Bellers fitness. However, we won't score more than 1 there. I am fully expecting to get beat 1-0. Watching us away from home is at times painful.
  22. I think this Savage thing is slowly being blown out of all proportion. Yes he's been here 8 months, but that's misleading. How many games has he played? Not many! If the interview Savage gave was any other Rovers player nothing would have been mentioned. It's because it's Robbie Savage. Like it or not he's a high-profile player. He might not be famous for dazzling skills but he knows what he's good at. I missed the West Ham and Villa games but against Spurs and Fulham he was spot on. Savage is rich - that's a fact. Of course he's going to wear designer labels. Why people have a problem with that I don't know. What do you expect him to wear on the golf course? A Rovers Shirt? There are some intelligent people on this board who would perhaps answers questions differently to Robbie Savage. That's because they will have probably had the correct education and schooling. He will have left school at 16 and had a life of football. He's no media genius. Give him a break. If he has a bad season slaughter him at the end of it and not four games into it. £3m may have been too much and he may like the attention but I fear some of us here are judging far too quickly. One thing I do know is that when Robbie Savage plays he gives 100% every time, and that's all I ask.
  23. I think we can look forward to a good game tonight. Unfortunatly it's one we might lose. Spurs have a touch of class about them now. I would quite gladly take a point. I would put Mokoena in the middle, shift Reid out to the wing and bench Emerton. This is a big game for Robbie Savage, he should be approaching match fitness how will he handle the collosus that is Edgar Davids? 2-3 Spurs - Kuqi to score On another note is the draw for the league cup 2nd round tonight? I'm sure this is where we come in. Burnley at home please.
  24. In terms of pure technique today produced the two finest goals I have seen at Ewood. Even that grumpy guy on 909 (Stuart Hall?) said MGP's strike was the best he'd ever witnessed. It was only last night watching the ST DVD I was thinking we score some scruffy goals. Fulham were poor, make no mistake about that. However we at times were very good and made them look poor. Kuqi is a handful - not only for the opposition but for us. He is awkward to watch. One minute he looks like he's playing football in the dark, the next minute he looks like a cross between Didier Drogba and Alan Shearer. Sadly it was mostly the former. He won't score more than 10 but he will make chances and goals for other people. He is a poor man's Emile Heskey and I like him. MGP and Neill had their best games in Rovers shirts. A good day but Spurs will be a different proposition.
  25. Having been to the game I'll give my version of what went on. Jay looks fat and awkward every time the ball gets close to him. It was hardly suprising to see him injured. Neither keeper looked outstanding. Matteo strolled through the game, it may have only been Grimsby but he was a class act. Gallagher is lazy and thinks he's made it. He needs to change his attitude and find a position to play in consistently well. Taylor looks promising. He gets forward well and had a couple of decent efforts. The sooner we get rid of Flitcroft and Douglas the better. How Douglas managed to get a 4 year deal I'll never know - oh hang on yes I do, Souness was the manager. Gresko and Gray linked up well down the left. Savage took a great free kick in the first minute which was destined for the top corner until the Grimsby keeper flew across to tip it up and over. Also Sav's delivery for Matteo's header was superb - Grimsby's marking on this occasion was dreadful. With Sav and MGP for the first time in years we have a couple of players capable of of causing problems for the oppostion rather than ourselves. Jansen took his goal well and for some reason I just think he might be getting back to his old level. I saw some a his twisting and turning like the good old days. He isn't quite at match speed yet, but I remain cautiously optimistic. None of the young guns stood out particuarly. If forced to pick one young Taylor looks consistent. An enjoyable evening in Grimsby even if it was watching the second string.
