  1. Actually, Graeme Le Saux finished the chamopinship winning season on the left wing. Can we vote for him again ?
  2. Not sure about Garner, Chesh. We'll have to wait and see on that one. Duff was one, if not the best left winger, but does that make him great? Don't forget it was wilcox that was part of the title winning side, not duff. Not sure about Duff either. I can think of a left-winger far more deserving of "great" status, and he's from the modern (post 1930) era too. Always knew you were a secret admirer of Jason the Jet.
  3. Does anyone else find it disturbing when he starts bouncing around like a demented one-legged kangaroo trapped in a lift ?
  4. You never know Scotty, I'll give it a bash !
  5. I actually feel a little sad, Brownie. Even though I didn't vote for Sherwood myself, I reckon yourself and FLB have done a great job and neither deserve to lose. it's also been a bit of a special subject for you, as your lads middle name is Sherwood. Every credit Brownie, you've done well. I'll give it a couple more days and if there's no real movement, we'll move on. Thanks for that Den. I've always been a big Sherwood fan though even I have to admit, getting selected as one of the best two central midfielders in BRFC history was always going to be a tough ask. Like I said, more important to me is that TS is remembered with particular affection with our fans, something I suspect that is not the case. My son wears the No4 shirt for his junior side and is called Sherwood, I feel I have paid significant tribute to our most succesful captain of modern times. I just wish others would give Sherwood the respect his hard graft and commitment to our Premiership winning campaign deserves. Congratulations to Jimmy Forrest, FLB and his supporters.
  6. What happened to Stead this week ? A late fitness test last week, and still out this week ! Bothroyd with Stead on the bench next week, Gally will have to be on fire to stay on !
  7. OK Den, I give up. Looks like Forrest has won. Well done to FLB and his supporters, though I hope this hasn't detracted from or undermined Sherwood's priceless contribution to the gretaest moment we will ever witness as Rovers fans. Let's move on to left wing. Scotty Scotty beam us up !!
  8. If there was a snap poll now for Player of the Season, only Emerton and Dickov would have a shout. Those of us who prefer 'arte' would choose Emerton and those who prefer 'labore' would go for Dickov.
  9. Have to agree. you can't one hand love the likes of Speedie and Dickov for winding up opposition fans and then get upset because a substitute warms up within spitting distance of the BB End.
  10. One thing Tommo will give us that Tugay won't is goals from midfield. And with our current striker problems we could certainly do with them.
  11. The poor mite ! Better than Flowers I suppose. He's coming along nicely Jim. Scored his first goal from midfield for Akzo under7's on sunday wearing that famous No 4 shirt. He hasn't started abusing the fans yet though !
  12. No need to get bitchy. I happen to think our history lacks a central midfielder of the class of a Douglas or a Clayton, so with no other outstanding candidate, plumped for our inspirational Premiership winning leader of our most celebrated post war achievment. Oh, and my son's middle name is Sherwood so I am a little biased. PS Luca was robbed.
  13. Well, quite clearly, we don't know exactly what his qualities were, you have to judge things on balance of evidence available. But clearly you've already done that after a careful and considered analysis of both careers, judging by the derisory way in which you refer to a major figure in the history of Blackburn Rovers. Pathetic. Pathetic ? Not half as pathetic as voting for a player you have no knowledge whatsover about as being one of the all time great Blackburn Rovers Players. When asked why you think Forrest was such a good player, what are you going to come back with ? When did you first hear about this 'major figure in Blackburn Rovers history' ? At least with Jim waxing lyrical about Clayton Newton Pickering etc, we know something about them.
  14. May be classed as equalling the achievements of Sherwood. What was it you liked about him ? His vision ? Eye for a goal ? Battling qualities ? Pipe smoking ?
  15. Doing it 5 times. Oh, and it more than equals it. No he didn't, he won the FA Cup. And let's face it, how he conquered Old Etonians, Blackburn Olympic and Darwen, I'll never know !
  16. You would think so. But then again he didn't play in a wee willie winkie hat so he may not get the nod.
  17. Does that mean all players after him are post-modern footballers? Don't complicate matters Bryan !
  18. Eh ?? Reid had a storming game before AND after his goal. Emerton poor ?, can't agree with that, he wasn't as superb as he has been lately but still had a very good game.
  19. Dunn's attitude to training would have gone down as badly with Hughes as it did with Souness. For a little more than we received for Dunn we bought Barry Ferguson. A wonderful piece of business. Almost as good as the 2 million plus we stole Brett Emerton for. These two along with two other Souness steals, Reid and Thompson are a top quality goal ridden midfield as good as any outside the top four and yet to reach their prime. And all for about 10 million.
  20. To me Tim Sherwood was the ultimate modern day footballer. Fully committed to the cause, 100% effort every game and the crucial ability to win a game with a bit of magic. Sherwoods ball control was first class, he could kill a ball stone dead with chest or boot. He was strong in the air and fierce in the tackle. During the Premiership winning season, Sherwood refused to lie down before any team whether he was alongside Atkins or Batty, any side needing to beat Rovers, had to battle against a strong relentless midfield. His pass completion was remarkable, every single game his completed passes ratio was the highest percentage of any Rovers player. What made this all the more commendable was Sherwood was always looking for the killer through ball which would open up defences. Alan Shearer knew his worth and regularly profited from such balls, the exquisite chipped ball played through to Shearer to equalise at Newcastle is one that immediately springs to mind, but there were many more. Sherwood was also a born leader, a fact Kenny Dalglish was quick to pick up on. Sherwood was often seen berating his defenders for conceding sloppy goals and equally effective at geeing them up. Sherwood went on to win the Supporters Player of the Year award later in his career before making Rovers a tidy profit when transferring to Tottenham for £4 million where he went on to represent England. Sherwood went from being a target of the Boo boys to being Premiership winning captain, winning the fans over in the meantime. For the sake of this vote, ask yourself, who was the better footballer ? Forrest or Sherwood ? If by some press of a key we were able to send this side out into a contest with a similarly selected side from Burnley, who would you rather have in your side ? Then vote Sherwood.
  21. According to my mate who was writing a report for a Birmingham website, the injury he has was giving him problems.
  22. What a load of bilge. He actually got paid a relatively small basic wage with generous bonuses for goals and wins etc Not even worthy of a . well obviously it was worthy of a serious response, in fact its fairly obvious about 15,000 people felt the same way with the boo's, and he did have a poor attitude and was lazy, and didn't give a Sh!t IMO Sheep, one boos they all boo because they think they are supposed to. How do you know he didn't give a sh1t ?, because he smiled like he has done throughout his carreer ? Flair players always get abuse about effort etc. This is why average players who put the effort in like Dickov are revered by the fans, but I tell you what, I bet Yorke would have made a better attempt at that last minute golden opportunity that Dickov fluffed.
  23. What a load of bilge. He actually got paid a relatively small basic wage with generous bonuses for goals and wins etc Not even worthy of a serious response.
  24. The booing I can live with, though I don't agree with. If we're gonna boo the greatest centre forward the club has ever or will have(AS) then we are going to boo virtually every former player (DY included). I was sat very close to the hand gestures and the face to face confrontation and it was an embarrassement. Ban the prats for life, they deserve it.
  25. Reid was absolutely magnificent today. In fact the front 6 were very impressive, Tommo and Emo in particular. The back four need a complete upheaval. Next game I'd play. Neill Todd Short Gray. Matteo if Short still injured. Johansson didn't do much wrong today but he just fills me with panic (and he looks like Lemmy)
