  1. To dissect my opinions on Tony a liitle. Tony the man manager- his strongest skill, he clearly has the backing of his players throughout his time here. Best we've had since Big Sam. Only issues I have is too many pointless contracts last season & strange treatment of Danny Graham this season. Tony the tactision- umm hit and miss, he gets some games perfectly. He clearly wanted to change the way we play this season. However to many times early this season we where round peg in a square hole. Bennett RB was Terrible, the wide striker situation wasn't/ still isn't a solution. I have no doubt that since more players are playing in their natural position our results improved is no coincidence. Tony the player developer-- often this feels like it happens when he's forced to eg. Travis. He's also too loyal to his league one crew for too long. However if his hand was forced or not he's brought a lot of academy players into the first team and some have thrived. Tony the recruiter--mixed bag, take out Dack and it's fairly poor record. The problem is he is too old school in the transfer market too patient and refuses to let a new player instantly come into the team. He tells them that too and I feel like we've missed out on good players because of it. Too many times it feels potentially good signing seemed to have slipped away. Tony the Man- it's hard not to like the Football loving Northern bloke. I'm grateful for the 3 years. He's not the perfect manager but his time so far goes down as a success and it's a long time since we've had a manager who I'd say did that. Here's to Tony taking tovers back to where we belong!
  2. Very Harsh on Williams, early season Del looked very good as a CB, the issue was him and Lenihan are too similar. Tosin offers something different. I actually have no issue with a fit Williams there for a few games. If he was at LB we'd have issues though.
  3. Nice Visual, interesting for myself based on league positions our harder games are at home our easier ones are Away. When the confidence is high that's a good think, but if that suddenly disappears it makes for a horrible run!
  4. It's been scrappy, we where partially poor first 20 minutes of 2nd half. All that said anything but us winning would be undeserved. That being said we don't look like a playoff team. It's not all Tony's fault. He's done OK with the cards he had tonight
  5. Probably edging up last 5 minutes. Looks like a very scrappy game
  6. Best side could have hoped for. But surprised no Chapman on the bench. Is he injured?
  7. Surely if josh King joins Man u. We might have flexibility for some late incomings. 20% clause I believe
  8. Adam Armstrong is such a strange one. Great Goal today, but was not as confident as Bradley Johnson he'd finish it Some days he's unplayable (especially when we where in League one). More often though he's awful. it's been nearly 2 years now, what do we think of him? Was he a good buy? For what it's worth I still think he's a player who it'll suddenly all click for and he'll become amazing. A little like the last 6 months we had of josh King. Edit: Actually the more I think about it he's like the player version of Tony Mowbray. Almost amazing but decision making let's him down and goes on these purple patches that give you such hope!
  9. From your list 1 rovers win prem 2 England win world cup 3 rovers get promotion from championship (secure our financial future) 4 rovers win fa cup 5 England win euros 6 rovers win league cup 7 rovers secure promotion league 1 and below 8 Burnley relegated 9 I win £10 on the lotto 10 England win nations league etc.
  10. What, you're allowed to play new signings straight away. Some one tell Tony
  11. Agreed him and Walton ability are key. Yea the johnsons and Gallagher were nice to have but these 2 positions were key and major weaknesses last year. Same with lb but think Cunningham will be the answer there. My gut feeling is tosin will be good enough but Walton isn't
  12. So to rate the transfer window. I believe we are stronger then we finished last season and would give it a 6.5/10 Goalkeeper 4/10 I'm disappointed we sold Raya and got Walton , I see it as a minor downgrade and even worse a problem we have to address again next season when his loan ends Defence 7/10 I for one am glad we went for a LB over a CB today, although would have preferred both! I think tosin's physicality is something we have missed and believe he's good enough for a team looking to go for play off's. I also rate lenihan and think Williams is a decent back up. So overall we can field a decent CB paring although cover is thin on the ground. I believe nyambe can be a good enough RB, it's just a shame Mowbray seems to only rate Bennet. As for LB really glad we got Cunningham over the line. Overall defensively we are solid now but lack cover. Midfield 8/10 Johnson is a good signing and downing isn't bad either. only downside is they are both fairly short term with them both the wrong side of 30. Shame we haven't shipped out smallwood. we are incredibly bloated in midfield options. and it could stop the likes of travis, davenport, buckley and Rothwell getting game time their development needs. Attack 6/10 First did we keep dack or do clubs see his performances have dropped in 2019? we may one day regret rejecting WBA advances last summer. Gallagher is fairly good, liked him last time he was hear and sort of feels like the graham replacement long term, I don't know where it leaves Armstrong and ben Brereton as number 9's though. sham to see the nut leave but he's more likely to have found his level in league 1 then be someone who we eventually regret going in my opinion. All that said we are stronger but still shy of playoff ready. the main issue is actually Dack. something has happened and he doesn't look the same player anymore. A dack we had in league 1/ first 3 months of championship with our additions could fire us as an outside shot but I think we'll be doing well to get top half at the moment. Mowbray to make it all the way through the season, then binned during his trip to india next summer.
  13. Think it's not the message here it's more who it came from
  14. Weird reason for someone to call another person for.
  15. Tin hat on... I think Mowbray is right here. I'd be very surprised if Tyler took these comments personally. He will know at 20 going out on loan in league 1 is the right thing. Tin hat off
  16. Fully agree, been a fantastic player for us it was only 8 months ago i'd say he was one of our key Players. certainly was for our promotion. He's been in poor form/ injuries have take their toll but I have no problem with him in the squad as a bench option this season. He'll likely start games until ada/ any new signings get up to speed. Then unless a drastic upturn in form will fade into a Conway role for a season or 2 But this total bashing he's get's is ridiculous.
  17. New article in the Lancashire telegraph seems to confirm my theory https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17800611.tactical-tweaks-rovers-shown-pre-season/
  18. a lot changed once Mowbray walked in https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2019/july/premier-league-keeper-arrives-on-loan/
  19. alright was looking at the back of the board on our new signing https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2019/july/walton-will-be-a-huge-asset-for-us/ looks like; GK RB CB CB DMC DMC LWB CAM CAM RF-(slightly more defensive), LF looks crazy but would make sence to Mowbray saying we won't play anyone in the centre
  20. I predict Armstrong will be our new Josh King. Never played correctly until it is too late
  21. Agreed, for what it's worth hope it's carson we are after derby's 16/17 player of the season, reasonable wage. Will do a job for a season or 2. Forester wage apart would be decent too.
  22. I think you can see from my profile I'm a long time viewer on this message board with very few posts. Main reason I do is to avoid pointless conflicts. But you can't blame the mods. Only yourselves for the lack of ability to accept others opinions. Peace
  23. I think had the obvious holes in the squad already been filled then this would be a decent signing. As a result I'll hold out on being critical. It's all about opportunity cost. Have we prevented ourselves signing a 5m top half championship standard defender by bringing in Sam? Or is this just a chunk off a 15-20m war chest with the rest plowed into defence. I hope the latter, however realistically expect the former But all this is not Sam's fault and hope he turns into a good one!
  24. Just a follow up we where the 9th youngest squad last year. We had a bulk of our squad at the 20-24 range. We definitely lack in the 28-32 bucket
