The actual money changing hands can be done on the 'never never' (i.e. we'll pay you £25m, but it'll be £500k every 6 months until the amount is reached"), but the full value of the transfer goes on that current transfer window's books. Chelsea et al won't be short of the cash to buy Wharton, but like Arsenal with the Raya loan (with a mandatory option to buy in the next transfer window) they simply might legally be hamstrung.

I think you'll see more of that formation this season with our set piece frailties. JDT will want 3 CBs on the pitch as much as possible. Phillips and / or O'Riordan will be playing a lot. I assume they'll play JRC, Brittain and the loaned at WB.

I genuinely think that's only the second time in his life he's ever played there. Not sure why JDT thinks he's suitable for the role 'cos he's absolutely not.

He was crap at one stage - he needed a loan to get some games in as he was constantly injured. To be fair to him (and the fitness team) they've clearly changed something about his routine as he's injured far less often - he got a run of games and has never looked back.

It'll be like Hill's last game - they won't risk him unless they absolutely have to. Don't want him to get injured so he's there in an emergency.
