I'm not so sure anymore. As spectacular as the football eventually turned out to be under JDT and the impressive achievement of nearly getting us to the Playoffs with a squad assembled for the cost of two pieces of chewing gum and a Freddo, the end was equally as spectacular. We were hurtling towards relegation.

Buckley can't get up and down the pitch enough to play as the runner in a midfield 3 and Dolan is wasted out wide (he essentially disapears).

They clearly don't play the same position and you've got to think Germain will be incredibly cheap (4 months left on his contract and coming from the J League). It surely can't be either, or. Germain has to be a bonus.

Kept us up last season when we were in free-fall, 4 points from the first 2 games this year. Passing every test with flying colours so far. Is it because he doesn't have JDT's cheeky chappy smile?

It's suicidal to sell Travis at this point in the transfer window. He's a good Championship CM (albeit not a Captain), but you'd never be able to adequately replace him with the time we've got left and for the money we'd receive for him.

Absolutely - it was sell Wharton or turn the lights off. The owners weren't fronting up the money - the very definition of financially distressed. The CEO steals £300k a year.

Honestly I think we were in a bind with Szmodics. His head had been turned at the potential to play in the PL (and the riches that come with it). Now I'm sure he'd have eventually buckled down and got on with it, but he's an emotional guy - he wouldn't have been happy. For a well-run club (which we're obviously not), £10m (or £9m + add ons) for a 29 year old 5'7" AM who's had one sensational season in his entire career is incredible business. Especially considering what we paid for him.

Or he's trying to cherry-pick the best players from his time there.

Who hasn't looked shite to you the first two games?

He looks decently quick in the highlights (and Japanese players generally aren't slow - small, but not slow).

He doesn't look fit at all, but he's also proving not to be a wide player (to be fair in the past I thought he could do a job there). It's why I'm also against signing strikers that can play 'across the line'. I want genuine width and trickery out wide, not a reasonably quick, sub 6' bloke that can pop up at the back post and score every now and again.
