  1. Well it's about opinions I guess.  I think he clearly tried to play the ball and then put his arms up when he realised that missing it put Morientes in.  Nothing I've seen of Cisse in English football would convince me that he has the foresight and vision to do what he did deliberately.

Watch the slow motion replay, he clearly stops his foot and pulls it away from the ball, despite it being easily within reach. This was followed by a quick 'didn't touch it ref' hand jesture. He probably got a shout from Morientes wink.gif

  2. Two things

first of all it is clear to most fans where the team needs to be more popwerful.  I think that this will happen in the close season, if we need more funding to do this, I would sell mgp, as we need a player who will play well in most of the games, and not just in some of them and a club might well pay good money for him.

second, I think most poeple would of been more then happy to have the season that we have had to date, and as such it is not all gloom and darkness, now if MH and CB were to leave in the close season then that is a different story.

If Spuds are still willing to pay £6-7m I'd snap their hands off.

  3. Everyone is valid to their opinion but regardless of mine concerning MGP I see him as our own decent left footed midfielder who can cross a ball. Who do you suggest should have been playing on the left wing since January?

I was begging for a double change at half time - Kuqi and Peter on for Dickov and Pedersen. Of course I knew it'd never happen as Hughes likes to give his players a chance to redeem themselves, but that's a different story.

I wholeheartedly agree with Shillito, Pedersen has actually been @#/? for most of the season. Obviously the nine goals from midfield have helped, but what exactly does he do for the team other than that? He contributes absolutely nothing going forward these days - the amount of times he hits his cross/pass into a defender is beyond a joke, and his complete lack of pace really doesn't help his cause. His redeeming feature, apparently, is his set piece play - it's just a shame he shoots at every chance he gets, including corners, and wastes a good majority of them. I'm sure he'd be great in a side that could afford to carry him, but unfortunately we aren't capable of that. All 11 men need to contribute, which hasn't happened enough for my liking this season.

With a pairing of Savage and Reid, our attacking play is pretty much reliant on the wide men and any strokes of genius Bellamy can provide. I think most people in the ground realised yesterday that if Liverpool wanted to they could shut up shop with little problem - which is why their gift is so hard to take. If we are to progress as a side then we need to find a place for Bentley (as he is one of the few players in our squad capable of playing a defence splitting pass), or bring in two wingers who can actually beat their man.

  4. Guys weve had a bit of bad luck. Thing to remember though is that it does more or less even it self out over the course of the season. We were woeful that first half, we didn't have 1 shot on or off target...as the home team that is pathetic. It doesn't look as if its a lack of effort, just class to be able to break them down.

Well that's six points the MIB have gifted to Liverpool this season - where's this evening out then? wink.gif

  5. I thought Bentley was pretty good in the second half.

Liverpool really know how to defend a lead.

That's what I thought too, he looked quite threatening when he had the ball at his feet. It's just a shame he was forced to produce the perfect ball or watch it gobbled up by a resolute Liverpool defence.

Twelve against nine is right, however, though Dickov and Pedersen would be the two I'd single out as being a waste of space.

  6. Everyone apart from Bellamy is bloody awful at the moment. We are letting them dominate the midfield for some reason so we have no platform to attack from and nothing to protect the back four. Hardly even seen Pedersen and Bentley and as for Dickov...Bellamy might as well be playing upfront on his own.

Did someone not tell them that we are fighting for a possible champions league spot here? Because it sure doesn't look like we are.

I was shocked when Hughes picked the same team for this game - Bentley isn't a right winger so unless you manufacture a crossing opportunity for him, he's not going to put any balls into the box, he's also a liability defensively. Pedersen is up to his usual tricks, he'll probably score again today (hopefully) but otherwise he's non-existant. Dickov was pants on Monday and it sounds like he's pants again....so basically we're playing with eight men, depending on the situation.

Personally I'd have put Emerton in for Bentley at the start because, for all his faults, he puts himself around. Kuqi would have started for Dickov too, but that wouldn't have been too popular tongue.gif

  7. Kuqi is useless in the air too.

And don't anybody throw ''What about that flick against .......''

He's useless. Rubbish. A waste of everything.

Bellamy is probably the only man alive who despises the sight of Kuqi more than I.

Let's put it this way, if Bellamy could finish Kuqi would have had a goal and an assist in about half an hour last night - can't ask for much more than that.

  8. I'd say that was a very dissapointing result, but I guessed it was coming. We caught Wigan at a good time at New Years, they were pretty much exhausted, which negates their style of play. On the balance of it we deserved to lose that game, we created nothing and struggled with their set pieces. I could go on about how poor certain people played, but I won't. On the plus side a point is a point and Kuqi scored another goal (no swan dive tonight though sad.gif ).

The referee lost control of that game early on, allowing Wigan to pretty much foul at will without fear of punishment. We're clearly three or four starting players from being a perennial European team, hopefully Sparky is given the funds to go out and get them.
