1. This is all a load of toilet. Man Utd would probably be more interested in some more high profile name to take over from Giggs, so they can sell more shirts and attract the sponsors. It's just typical Big Club + form player = transfer nonsense.

Isn't that the thing though, Norway's David Beckham and all that jazz?

  2. 10 in the league, 1 in the cup in 30 games overall. From what I've read he's not really improved i.e very talented, but his effort/work rate is questionable. Granted a return of a goal every three games from left wing/midfield (which is where he's been playing) is pretty damn good - Pedersen-esque even biggrin.gif - but his attitude worries me

Thankfully it's Hughes and not me making the decision on where Paul goes from here - he's talented enough to excel at the top, but whether he wants to is another matter. Could come back to haunt us ala Beattie if we sell him on now, after all he's still only 21!

  3. I'd like to see him loaned to a Championship team for the first half of next season to see how he goes there.. Didn't he have a fairly unsuccesful loan to Plymouth??

See if he can cut it at the next level up

Yeah, but from what I read the new manager likes the long ball system and Matt is too slight to be an effective player upfront - he scored a hattrick on his Plymouth reserves debut, if that's anything to go by wink.gif

  4. Slight difference between League 2/Division 3 and the Prem, but obviously his scoring goals for fun is promising. According to the Wrexham fans he's lightning quick, finishes well and works hard - a class above the rest of the players at the club.

I've not seen enough of him to judge whether he's found his level, or if he can continue to score goals higher up the leagues - hopefully he can because we need a quick striker, and more importantly an Academy player to break through into the first team (Peter is coming through, but he's not quite there yet). I'll leave that up to the coaching staff/fans who turn out for reserve games to comment on biggrin.gif

  5. Hope Tugay will remain fit for this one

Does anyone else think Bellamy should be given a rest between now and the end of the season, possibly in this game?

This may prove to be our easiest game following which we have home games against pool and Chelsea and trips to relegation battlers, 4 games for which we really need Bellamy.

Better rest him now than have him miss more crucial games  unsure.gif

I'd rather make certain we pick up the three points thanks.

  6. How do you think the club makes so much money for a Sky match? TV rights and PPV fees. A lot of overseas fans shell out money to follow Rovers. I end up paying more for a Sunday afternoon match (not factoring in exchange rate) to watch it on PPV than you pay for your ticket. So does that make you less of a fan since I spent more money to watch the club that day?

The extra money each year I spend to get Fox Soccer channel also helps Sky pay for their TV rights - more money going into Rovers' coffers.

Then there is Rovers World. I'm sure it does much better by having both overseas and local fans than it would just having local subscribers.

Theno's not going to be happy until the overseas supporters buy a block of seats, rename them, donate the tickets to underprivileged Rovers youngsters, put on a mini-bus, buy them all the latest kits etc, etc......

  7. I honestly see Bolton challenging for the Champs League - whilst their football is @#/? and 'plays the percentages' (i.e you're going to eventually put one knockdown/goalmouth scramble away) few teams can handle them. We're one of them I feel, but I can see Spurs, Utd, Chelski and Liverpool struggling with them. Not to say they'll beat them all, but I'm not marking it down as an automatic loss.

If anybody's going to lose out it's us - we're one injury away from falling out of contention, especially considering how shakey our defence/keeping has been this season.

  8. Stuwilky, renew online, no charge.

To those who haven't seen it in the programme, look out for the full page with the lad asleep on the seats.

Yes prices frozen for renews or new sign ups until end of April* Story on the website on Monday.

    * Obviously if you were prevously a junior and now a young adult the price will go up, but only to last (this) season's prices.

If anyone has any questions, please ask them here and I'll answer them.

    391718

Do you have any idea of the percentage of increase in price for next year?

  9. Savage red card was harsh, real harsh.

Freidel poor on both goals, but awesome from Viduka header.

I say again, Bellamy is the new Shearer. £15M worth of striker.

    391712

You're missing an asterisk there - when healthy.

Friedel's going downhill quite rapidly, but he's still better than anybody else we'll probably get, which just goes to show how good he used to be!

  10. Excellent!!  thumbs-up.gif  Howzabout all these rich Roverites living abroad (who cannot get to games) sponsoring a poor Blackburnian child to go to games on their behalf....then the child can write them a nice letter telling them all about the game & how exciting it was??  smile.gif

    391243

    CheshireBlue should put a mini-bus on biggrin.gif

  11. stu, why in god's name are you on that Liverpool Board trying to appease those idiots?

It's surely of far greater consequence, that that Blackburn fan will not be renewing his season ticket next year. (whether you agree with his analysis of what happened at Hillsborough or not) I must admit I'm starting to wonder what the point of following Rovers is when the powers that be refuse to look after the interests of our own club.

You're meant to be a member of BRISA not RAWK ffs.

    391222

They were backed up into a tight spot though, in all honesty. I'd have prefered we stand up for ourselves and refuse to reschedule the game, but the amount of bad publicity this would have caused probably wasn't worth the hassle. This is especially so considering we are quite able to move the fixture without too many problems.

  12. It seems not so long ago that we are checking results on teams like Fulham, Birmingham, Portsmouth etc.. hoping that their results will go our way so as to push us higher in the bottom half of the table.

But now we are looking at the results of bigger teams like Pool, Arsenal and Spurs.  tongue.gif

    391112

Speaking of which, rumour has it Henry has verbally agreed to join Barca. Now whilst that's bad for the Prem as a whole, it'd be great news for the ever improving Rovers, what with L'Arse being a one man team and all thumbs-up.gif

  13. I can't see how people are calling this a banana skin, Boro have a high quality squad (when fit!). They also have something that we dream about, three strikers who can score goals - which could very well be the difference on Saturday. Our defence has been shakey at best of late, this is one of the last teams I'd have matched them up against in their current state.

We'll be lucky to get a win I feel, a draw would be a decent result though.
