I mean, that requires further evidence. A dodgy personal property declaration doesn't mean they're committing wide scale fraud on our accounts too.

We've been losing more than that for years. We typically lose about 15-20 million each season, and until the last two seasons the result has mainly been treading water and not threatening the playoffs (plus that season we got relegated to League One before bouncing straight back). The Championship is awash with clubs making huge losses. It's an insane league distorted by the Prem treasure being in touching distance. Eh, for a freebie and probably not huge wages, I'd take scoring loads of goals but only being available 40% of the time. That's very unlikely btw. Unless your offer was a bit of a joke. If you offered him any more than 2.5k p/w, I shouldn't think we've quadrupled it. A google says your highest paid player is on 5k p/w, with another on 4k and one on 3.5k...with his record (injuries included) surely he was offered at least 2.5k? I'd be surprised if he's on any more than 8k p/w here tbh.

As far as I can see, he's never played full back. So I expect if there's an injury crisis, it's more likely he plays CB whilst Carter goes to RB.

The Spanish second tier is particularly poor, a lower standard than the Championship. I doubt he'd want to drop to that level just to learn Spanish easier. He could just hire a tutor if he's that desperate.

You posted yesterday. The last post before yours in here was the day before. Doesn't matter now though.

In the hope that financial ruin means they stop owning us. It's a gamble, as to what comes next if that happens, but I can see why people want to take it. They've not covered us in glory, much the opposite. It would be very tough to find a buyer if they wanted even half the debt back, although financial ruin might force them to accept a lot less. Or make them more likely to insist on more, which could ultimately mean administration and points deductions (but still a fresh start). But I doubt either the financial ruin or the sale will be happening. More likely we'll just continue to have strangled transfer budgets and continue to downgrade.

So basically it sounds like Venkys bought Alexander House for a little over 6 million (the article seems to have confused the monetary conversion, I got a figure closer to Den's, and articles show the property was up for sale at that sort of price). I remember reports about them buying it at the time. The problem, it sounds like, is they declared in their Indian taxes that it would be used for agriculture and mining purposes (mining apparently meaning rearing ducks and hens), presumably so they could write it off as a business expense over in India, as it could be attributed to their main businesses based there. Of course, it never was, as it was just a pleasure house bought for when they visited the UK or to entertain guests, friends and clients. This sort of thing has clearly pissed the Indian authorities off, who have previously been reported a few years ago as having seized Venkys property in raids which if I recall rightly were linked to tax irregularities, and they've seized an equivalent value of properties to this latest irregularity. 6 millionish quid doesn't seem like a lot to the V's in the scheme of things, so why would it affect our funds? But keep in mind this seizure only happened on Monday. We heard Venkys and the Indian government were in talks for a while. Clearly those talks didn't go Venkys' way, but in the meantime they may have agreed (perhaps to show willing) or been forced to withhold UK investment until the matter was settled. Whether this means it's over for now as far as Rovers not being able to receive funding remains to be seen. But this is my interpretation of what's being said and happened, with a little reading between the lines. The property issue itself doesn't sound as drastic as is being made out. I don't see any links to money laundering issues (not that that couldn't also be the case, but I think that'd be in the report), just most likely an attempt to evade paying the proper taxes on a personal property by making it a business expense and/or using business funds instead of their own to buy it. Modi's government have a real hard on about foreign investment, so it's no surprise they'd try to make a statement with this. This all makes more sense now than the claims the money was held back because of the new tax laws that don't kick in til October.

Summer Window - Rating /10

Think you've miscounted the incoming there, it's 7 in, not 8. -

Not sure where that definition has come from, but I've always considered a crock to be someone who is prone to injury, not just currently injured.

I'm pretty sure it was said at the time that he wouldn't be playing til after the international break. He is back on the grass 10 days now, but having missed preseason it's pretty understandable that he won't play til after the international break. It's only one more game he is missing then we should see him. He doesn't have much of an injury record as far as I recall, so it's very premature to be classing him as a crock. If these things keep happening then fair enough.

v Harrogate (a) - 31/8/23 - Carabao Cup

Sorry if posted already, but I believe one more would equal our record win, and two would be a new record win. (Apologies, record win is 11-0 in the FA Cup against Rossendale United - 9-0 is our record league win) -

Livescore had it down as that from the off. They also have Buckley at LW (or inside forward, LAM or whatever) and Moran CAM. Markanday on the right and Gally up top. Does the BBC agree on that? I'd have thought Buckley central made more sense. -

Ash Phillips would have almost certainly started for us in the cup. He didn't even make Spurs' bench. -

I dunno, just looked them over. It doesn't look that bad. A few where the theoretically weaker team won (Fulham took Spurs out, Sutton Utd are a league below Wycombe, League Two Mansfield beating Championship Sheff W). Even some of the games that went as expected still meant a Championship team losing. -

1,034. I'd be curious to know what the old record was. -

Interesting that we're being described as ultra offensive and committing more players to the attack than ever before, but the only team we've had more shots against was Rotherham. Even Walsall had the same as us. I've not seen enough of us this season to judge btw, due to work commitments. Only seen West Brom and Watford (who had way more shots than us, but I thought we were value). -

I dunno what any of you are mad about, if you're honest with yourselves, nor do I see how this would be a Swag plot (and I think he's an asshole). Of course Harrogate aren't going to want Rovers fans rocking up in their ends, no club does. No harm in trying, but you didn't get away with it, end of. And Swag nor the club benefit from you not getting the tickets. The club has already sold all tickets extremely quickly, so there's nothing more to be gained from 1875 membership now, ergo it won't shift more of them. And moreover, ticket sales are split equally between the clubs, so Rovers are losing half the ticket price on any extra sales. I dunno if Harrogate are expecting to sell all tickets, but: 1) If they are, they really won't want Rovers fans taking tickets from home supporters, and 2) If they're not, Rovers/Swag definitely don't benefit from helping stop Rovers fans getting home tickets. The home side still won't want bunches of Rovers fans in their end even in this scenario, as it increases the potential for aggro. They're hardly going to conduct some MI5 style intel on your family and criminal background to see if you're trouble, they'll apply a blanket rule to away supporters in the home ends (the same as pretty much every club in the country does for pretty much every game). I get that you're frustrated you can't go, but be rational. -
By half time.

v Watford (a) - 27/8/23
bluebruce replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Definitely a smash and grab. Dolan (I'm a fan) had a very poor game and needs to step his game up. He's capable of much more, despite what some fans claim. Pears (I'm not really a fan) did well today, good stop near the end. Travis and Wharton both looked off the pace second half. Travis looked tired, Wharton's usual clinical, rapid reading of the game often deserted him and landed him in trouble at times. Hedges was fairly anonymous but scored a terrific goal that will be in our goal of the season competition. Gally can be frustrating but he definitely injected energy and impetus that we were lacking at that time. Unlucky not to get an assist in the buildup to the goal. Don't think Szmodics was quite at it at times either, not that he was poor, just that he can be better and on another day puts that chance away. Today I think the players I tend to prefer underperformed a bit, and ones I'm less keen on came through for us. Don't think we were value for any more than a point, but those are the games you need to win to compete. Points are all that matter. -
A sensible team over there would just spend a lot less money on a greater number of less glamorous players, from leagues like the Championship, Allvenskan, Tippeligaen, Serie B, etc. Probably also the Turkish Super Lig where players are more likely to be suited to the culture (and therefore make less extortionate demands, especially now there are some superstars in Saudi to make the league a bit less of a joke). Then you'd have a solid overall team who could probably dispatch the imbalanced sides with a couple of superstars and various part timers for the rest of the squad. But of course, it's not about winning, or building sensibly, it's about vanity.

And since he said people, probably Khadra and/or Steele.

I think it was fair enough to be worried about him after 2 seasons with a goal a season. He isn't 19 anymore, if he does that at Villarreal he'll be a flop.
