  1. Dunno in general but in the last game the Wolves commentators were saying he was the best player on the pitch and he took his winning goal pretty well. Wouldn't mind taking cameo looks at a few of these players, you never know who will take to it like a duck to water. Lyons, JRC, Butterworth when he was fit, Hilton could have been given the cup game, Davenport...but hell, TM didn't even give youth a chance last season when we were the first club in the league whose season was over (couldn't get relegated, couldn't go up). I'm not going to say he doesn't introduce youngsters, because he does (although I think he's had a particularly promising bunch compared to recent years). But he still takes a softly slowly approach with it, as he does in all things.
  2. He is pretty fucking horrendous at breaking a story. Even his predecessor was better at it. Either the LT still have the links but Sharpe would rather kowtow to not upsetting the club by leaking anything, as was sometimes the case in the past, or he just doesn't have a clue outside of what happens in official interviews. I tend to believe the latter, because I'm quite sure some of the things he has reported have been shown to be false within a few days. Can't remember the examples though.
  3. Pretty sure that's mostly an optical illusion from the creases on the shirt.
  4. Dunn was still easily worth bringing back. He was crucial for us when fit for a fair bit of his time.
  5. It was DE on the other thread, and he was saying it was based on what they were saying on their forums...so fuck knows. Maybe he got taken off them before his injury.
  6. Oh, someone in the transfer thread on here said he didn't take their set pieces
  7. They sure did. And that was with all the goals he scored for us, which I don't think he has been doing there? Seems much better suited to Wigan than us, unless he was just in a comfort zone here. Seems odd he has been told he will be 5th choice there if true.
  8. Lmao that's ridiculous. No way they have a better taker. So they signed a free kick taking specialist who is a defensive liability and didn't give him the free kicks but did play him quite frequently in defence. And I thought we did things backwards. (Yes I know, we do)
  9. NO!!! Far far far far far far far far far too slow to be our left back!! Hell fucking no! You mention Bell's pace doesn't seem to help him. But it does at times. Mulgrew is defensively like Bell without the pace. We are already awful at left back, this would make us even worse. Christ I can't even say I'm underwhelmed by the news he is coming back. Fairer to say I'm gutted. He did us sensational service at times did Charlie, but his day is long since gone and he is a total liability even in the realm of our liability defence. Set pieces are the only thing he has left, and did he even notch from a free kick at Wigan? So several downsides to this. 1) Wage bill back up. 2) We will probably abandon any notion of looking for an actual CB until at least the summer, even though we desperately need good backup and competition for our best two. 3) If he ends up playing, we will regret it. 4) I'd rather see one of the youth defenders used than CM at this stage, if injuries kicked in. The only 'incoming' so far and it's bad news.
  10. 16 this season, with 3 goals and 2 assists. Didn't think of him, but doubt that's be a goer. Injured at the moment too.
  11. I couldn't think of anyone else who seemed likely either. Joao is too expensive and only been there since summer. Emnes is 32 in May and the most I can find out about his recent career is he is at Vancouver Whitecaps. Can't even find stats. Couldn't envision it being Nuttall returning! Anyone else would be too old, or even retired? Gestede I guess? With his injury record and high wages though... The post I saw said knowing our luck it'll be Chris Brown! Not that I'm taking the rumour seriously anyway, was just curious if anyone else has seen it.
  12. Just seen a post on a Facebook group claiming rumours abound that we are trying to sign one of our ex-strikers, but that there's been no indication who. I haven't heard these rumours, has anyone else?
  13. Sadly, I suspect our new left back is Amari'i Bell...he certainly hopes he is. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18160118.defenders-hopes-answer-rovers-left-back-problem/
  14. Now you mention it, and I hadn't thought of it this way before, but playing strikers there is even less defensively sound than playing attacking wingers there. I'm starting to realise that his whole 'two and a half attackers' and needing a 'defensive winger' thing he kept saying the other season was really just another excuse to wedge Bennett in. He is happy enough to just play two outright strikers on the flanks so the problem can't ever have been that wingers aren't defensive enough.
  15. U-18s beat Sunderland 2-0 on Sunday. Zak Gilsenan and Sam Burns scoring. Looks like Sunderland's team must really suck - they've lost all 11 games and have a minus 36 GD. So they've lost, on average, by more than 3 goals every game! Our lads are 9th in the u-18 Northern league, level with Manure on points.
  16. Why? We have until the end of next season before the FUP will be measured. Not sure if that would escape scrutiny. If you mean get one of their friends to do it, that would mean passing their friends 10 million. Which I assume may be difficult to do legally. I'm sure any legal, transparent way of doing that would be taxable at best. And that any illegal or confiscated way would see them being investigated by Indian authorities again (whatever happened with that in the end, anyone?). Then over on this side I thought the league were meant to be cracking down on these circuitous ways of providing the extra funding.
  17. All day? Christ, be a bit cruel to spend all day doing it.
  18. Surely he shouldn't, because he is so incredibly far past it. Of course he can't do better than them anymore.
  19. Isaac I think he's called.
  20. Not the most important of news at all, but I see Tom White has had his loan at Barrow extended and it's looking more and more like he was yet another pointless signing. He's 22, time for him to crack on, but instead we signed him, played him for about 8 u23 games, then shipped him back on loan for the season to the same poor level he came from, Conference, where we will learn absolutely nothing about his improvement. It's only a 2 year contract he has signed too, so come the summer there will be 1 year left. What was the point? I assumed we bought him mostly for the u23s, but then we shipped him off after not very long so it wasn't that either. It was reported by a few on here he was playing pretty well for them, so it's not like he just hasn't met our expectations. Why did we bother? Little decisions like this do add up when there's enough of them.
  21. Uh, technically two managers walked away...the other one definitely didn't have integrity!
  22. Maybe just thinks we have made a pig's ear of what was once a highly rated youngster, and that he can do better with him.
  23. Totally agree. Can almost guarantee we won't agree to it though, citing an imaginary lack of options in those areas. He will then fester on the bench again for the rest of the season, with the occasional useless cameo on the wing.
