January transfer window 2020
bluebruce replied to GunnerRover7's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I keep seeing you talk about this, but it doesn't matter what he did if he wasn't the one sent off. If another couple of players got themselves sent off by intervening, it's because of something THEY did. If he stayed on the pitch then he isn't responsible. You seem to have it in for Chapman and I can't figure out why. But in this scenario you should be blaming the two fools who got themselves sent off, whoever they were. Instead, for some reason you seem to think Harry is the only one who should keep his temper, even though what he did can't have been as bad. -
Yeh, I more took an interest in the parts where he seemed to be musing over whether it should be used to sell players off, whilst suggesting they won't be ready to impact us at first team level for ages. It could just be my reading between the lines, but I worry he means we will bring them through, give them a few games then look to sell them on. Which would mean selling prospects too cheap most likely. Or he could be planning to sell the likes of Travis and Nyambe and replace with other kids coming through. Don't think that would be any better. There certainly doesn't seem to be room in the squad for all these prospects to break through simultaneously under TM's current approach. Someone, somewhere is going to be a casualty of all this. Probably a few.

Leeds (A) - Same as last year lads... kind of.

Dunno, luck on the day, but I absolutely wouldn't expect to come away with a 3-0 defeat if that happened. You're not all that much better than us, you're just a lot more consistent. That makes all the difference in the table, but makes little difference when both teams are hitting their heights. Edit - in fact, are you a Leeds fan? You keep saying they rather than us or we, but you seem to have a hardon for them at least. -

That was a last ditch reversal to give you a 3-2 win, and by your own admission you were flying then and aren't now. You have one of the worst home scoring records in the league. We have one of the worst away conceding records, yes, but that was true last season too. Fail to see why, if we do play to our potential, you're convinced it will still be 3-0. I think you'll win, but I see it being tighter than that. If our lads have anything about them, the late win against Wednesday should give them some belief. If we aren't at it, that's when you'll win by the kind of margin you suggest. -
I thought Mowbray's comments on the Academy in the LT today would have sparked a little discussion here. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/politics/quicktest/18016302.mowbray-happy-productivity-rovers-academy/

Tickets for Rovers vs Swansea Feb 29th
bluebruce replied to Adam C's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
If she isn't into football I'd expect her to be more appreciative of at least a modicum of atmosphere than a better view of a game she doesn't care for. JW is painfully sterile. I wouldn't choose to sit there even if it was cheaper than the BBE. But to each their own. Eh the whole place is embarrassingly quiet these days anyway. -

First ever home game? You'll want to sit in the Blackburn End for the best 'atmosphere', not that there's much these days anyway. Shame, it used to be bouncing. Lower tier (can't remember if we even open the upper anymore). Jack Walker end will arguably give you a better view, depending on your preference on that count, as it's side on, but it's like a bloody morgue there. Especially the upper bit where I sometimes sit with my dad, can't speak as much to the lower. Avoid the Riverside despite the cheapness. Unless you want to time travel. Long time since I sat there so can't speak too much to atmosphere, but there's a good chance a girder will occasionally block your view, and if it doesn't, there's a good chance you'll get pissed on if it rains! -
I'm sure they'll have all that in place and functioning before we do.

January transfer window 2020

Would you agree it is madness to buy another CM though, without sales? We can't carry half our squad wages just in CM! I'm not saying we are terrific there, but he has to be getting more from the existing personnel, or ship some out, and has to be strengthening the backline. -

Why central mids? Because you think we need one or because you know TM is trying for the Guiness World Record for accumulated CMs? -

Wouldn't surprise me at all if we are still prioritising the wrong positions. Defence. Goalie. I'm really not interested in us signing players in any other area (other than maybe a proven quality striker if the budget skyrocketed, which I doubt). -
Since you're asking about what the point of something Venkys did was, I assume this question is rhetorical.
-
Cheers. OK so I take it from that that Evans was warming up until the goal, then was told to sit back down for Buckley? Suggests he rates Buckley as being able to carve out goals for us, whereas Evan's he rates for limiting the opposition. I agree it's unambitious to go for the draw at home, but he obviously rates him in some capacity. Tbh when they announced the Buckley sub, my dad and I both looked at each other as if to say 'how is that going to change the game?' Thankfully it did.
-
I've also thought for a while he could have more input in the game at large from there. He could potentially be our best CM. Problem is it diminishes his goal threat a bit if he's too deep to be making those late runs and linking up off the frontman. He can definitely get isolated in games as it is though. Easier to keep tabs on via man marking without another player by his side, and if we don't break past the midfield we can't get to him anyway.
-
Why do you say that? And if so, why did he?
-
To be fair, whilst that is his general style, I think you're wrong about those two. He clearly rates Buckley, who has come off the bench quite a bit this season (and truthfully hasn't done enough to merit being a regular starter yet). We supposedly paid City about a million as a loan fee for Tosin. He is gonna play when fit, except for when returning from injury with two centre halves in form, like earlier this season. We are also without Lenihan for a while so he is definitely getting a run.

Even a stopped clock...

Also unlike the cinemas, there's a chance you'll come out of it with your whole weekend ruined. When 45 quid is a fair chunk of money for you, the thought of it getting you sheer dismay or rage after sitting in the cold for 90 minutes is pretty galling. Football clubs are lucky this is a passion, and we are essentially addicts, or they wouldn't be able to charge anything like what they do. Value for money relative to other entertainment it ain't.

I wouldn't be too glad, the guy who is picking the team has put out similar teams before. I doubt he drops Walton today, but the lad has earned a kick up the ass and it wouldn't surprise me even remotely if the rest of the team is exactly how we line up.
-
Ironic, because we have almost literally no defence.
-
My god man, everybody already told you - we couldn't give a flying fuck up Balaji's asshole how early we were told about being ripped off!! Sorry but if you're going to reply to a post like that, which asks you a specific question, please don't just swerve the question and the point and repeat something you said earlier which has already been countered! If you don't have an answer, it's best to just not reply (or better yet, consider whether the other person might have a point, and reconsider your position). I'm not trying to have a go, and I'm aware I can't make you do anything, but please understand that's an infuriating way to have a discussion.
-
Raya also made exceptional saves a hell of a lot, balancing that somewhat. Walton has been far weaker in that category. Ironically, the best save I can recall him making was in the Preston game.
-
Christ how many players do you want to blame Chapman for holding back?? He is one player, he can only really be holding back one player per game. I thought both Mols and Vale were strikers anyway?
-
He doesn't care. He has clearly stated he has no alternative plan for them.

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18001072.rovers-take-man-city-youngster-trial-given-defensive-injuries/ This article also mentions that they are being careful with Butterworth, rather than 'first team' players holding him back as you suggested earlier.
