January Transfer window
bluebruce replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
What about you and I? I'm incredibly injury prone and would probably spend at least 80% of the season injured, and the rest being shit at that level. Is that still depth? -

Yes. Undisclosed fee, which was varyingly reported as being somewhere from 300k to 500k. -
I don't think anything on youtube is pay per view. Could be wrong.

I don't believe we have had any money for Finneran yet. I haven't heard about the compensation being settled. I'm expecting it won't be any higher, or much higher anyway, than 500k.

There is a middle ground between the hyperbole of 'practically gave him away' and a 'decent fee' (less hyperbolic, but still a generous assertion). Neither is true for me. We sold Wharton for what will prove a bargain price if injuries don't end him prematurely, and about 5-8 million shy (10 at the very most) of what could reasonably be expected in the summer if we had held firm and didn't have clownpants owners.

Bit of a mystery to not play Gueye especially. Needs game time, needs a goal to restore confidence. Will surely only come off the bench again this weekend, if that. Baker I guess hasn't played much and is a touch old, so maybe suddenly giving him 90 and then starting him again at the weekend wouldn't be ideal, but surely a 60 minute run out would have put a bit more in his legs for the weekend. Perhaps starting him isn't the plan. Not sure what the plan is...Cantwell further back maybe? JRC, who has been shit?

Cheers, yeh I'm aware of the Dacia Spring. Terrific price point for a new EV, but the range is very limited. I'm not sure what its battery chemistry is either, which matters for guessing how long that will probably last, though most new ones should be good for a while. You would probably only get about 100 miles or less in cold weather, which would be a problem for my Blackpool to Manchester trips, let alone if I landed something further afield, so it wouldn't have been suitable for my needs. I also don't have 'buy new car' money! But for someone who can afford it, doesn't have too far to travel routinely, and really wants to get into EVs, it could be a great arrival on the scene. Although you'll generally always get better value on the used market, as with most cars.

Although tbf, those lost causes do sometimes come good. Brereton being everyone's favourite example. But personally yes, I'd see if he can start scoring goals and regain confidence in the U21s, and if he struggles there too he needs to go in the bin. -

I'm not convinced that providing service would be enough to get a tune out of Gueye. -

Mo Barrow was an emergency 3 month loan, and a google search of rules at the time in 2015 (not sure if this still applies) says that an emergency loan may contain a break clause that can be activated at any point after 28 days, no window needed. Even in 2015 a standard loan (which are between half a season and a season) had to be terminated during a transfer window. If a recall clause was included. Otherwise a cancellation of the loan requires the consent of both clubs and the player. I don't think we have had a loan less than half a season since then, I can't remember one. If that's the case, every loan since has only been subject to a potential recall in January. -

I was working, but I did enjoy it thanks. -

Then you're somehow unaware of the fact you can't be recalled outside of a transfer window, even though it's been the case for many years. -

As I said, you're off your tits if you only think he's had a couple of good games. He has only had a couple of bad ones. A very consistent player. He can keep it up, because by and large he's been doing that for nearly 1.5 seasons now. His genuinely bad games in that time can probably be counted on one hand. -

That's a false equivalence. Away fans make far more noise than home fans do. Our away support probably makes more total noise, not just per fan, than our home support. -

Then he's off his tits. Been consistently very good since signing. Barely had a bad game. -

Hope Cantwell is alright, then it's been a terrific day -

You would think Cantwell too, with Park's ties to Scottish football. Surely he'd be the one to hear a deal could be done cheaply enough. If our 3 biggest signings of the summer were all Gestede's choices, no wonder Park left, a Chief Scout with apparently no power over recruitment. -

Real warning sign there, if we can get another chance we need to take it. -

Unreal we haven't gone two up with one of those. Wish Cantwell had realised nobody was with him when he burst clear of the defence. -

He didn't look knackered in that run a minute later. But I'd also take him off for ACD like another poster said. Had a great first half, doesn't look the same this half and I suspect the ref will send him off if he does anything else remotely bookable. Gueye...I mean, the pass from Travis was way too ambitious, he was never getting that, but the way he just half-arsed jogged when he has the freshest legs on the pitch isn't good. He needs to improve or he won't even be coming off the bench soon. -

My first instinct was yellow and bordering on a 50-50. Then I saw the replay and yeh it should be a red really. Very high foot. -
