I don't know is the honest answer. They has been very little talk/comments on Hyam and any new contract talks which I find strange this summer. Hence why I think it's small possibility he has sign a new contract or has option in his contract. Anyway I have asked Jackson this morning the Hyam question. His reply was So I hold my hands up guys, but its looks like contract talks will start after the window shuts -

Cos of his poor form around the Bristol City game. It's interesting that Jackson hasn't asked about Rovers about Hyam only have 1 year left on contract but has commented on Dolan and Gallagher situation -

Maybe he signed a contract extension and just not announce by the club last season. Who knows. -

Maybe Hyam's contract doesn't actually run out at the end of the season. I would stick with Hyam as captain. -

I said last summer I wanted Hyam to be Rovers captain and replace Travis. Here is my post from last summer. https://www.brfcs.com/forums/topic/36571-pre-season-2324/?do=findComment&comment=2479325 So to answer your point Roversfan99, No it isn't cos Eustace might pick Hyam or Travis or Pickering. I don't know who Eustace will pick tbh To answer your point Islander200 on Hyam not being captain cos he only has 1 year left on his contract, for me that plays no part in my decision and yes I would offer him a new 3 year contract and keep him here. -
Didn't Gent want to regular first team football and not be squad player here?

You can sense he is getting frustration over the Szmodics thing and I think he would have like a keeper and pacey winger in by now by his comments today. I think we are understand that and are all similar. Its would have been great to get De Lange or another similar in by now. Same with the pacey winger

Its not about empathise with the owners at all but looking at the finances involvement. I don't agree about Championship football clubs will always lose money and would you keep funding their losses each and every season? Guess its easy when it is someone else money you are playing with. We have seen invest this summer and hopefully more to come in terms of permanent signings which are cash buys. Plus a couple of loans players.

@roversfan99, I don't agree Pears is crap at all, He has shown at time he can be steady enough keeper making very good saves like his 2 displays at Leeds and Leicester but the problem you get the mistakes from him like Ipswich at home or Sheffield Wednesday mistake. That is why we need a good solid reliable keeper signing this summer. its very disappointed we have missed on De Lange signing here, I hoping we have another keeper lined up who fits the bill for what I want from my number 1 keeper. On my point about the owners not willing the full debt every season and throwing the money covering the losses. I don't know what their level of interest but for the past seasons until the last one they cover the money. Just imagine if that was yourself, would you keep throwing money at the club each and every season or look to reduced the money putting in by using some of the funds received to cover those debts. I know where we are regarding FFP rules thanks Mate. On it being 4 or 6 signing point, We signed 6 players in 2 days and whether you want to nit picking and one was under 21 player and 1 was contract extension, do it really matters? On us reinvesting some of the money we received in this summer, I agree and we have seen that with Gueye and Yuki plus hoping with a keeper, winger with pace and centre midfielder being cash permanent transfers with a loan left back and winger on loan. I would be expect in terms of numbers cos then you got around 25 players in the squad. 23 days left of the transfer window left. We need 4 or 5 signings more in plus we need to sell or loan players like Markanday or Batty or Hilton. Plus sorting out Szmodics whether he is staying or going. For me, Its needs to sorting this week/early next week. I'm expecting it to be busy time for us until end of the window

Hyam captain for me. I am looking forward to the start of the season and watching my first game of the season at Ewood Park. I think we will win 3-1 with Gueye scoring. -

Ugbo is signing for them. For me, They will challenge for playoffs for me. I haven't said they will do better but I expect them to in and around the playoffs. Its all about Parker will change things and how quickly he does it. Plus the squad there come end of the window. I think Sheffield United have a good squad and players suited for the championship plus Wilder who is experience at this level. as I said in the other thread, Luton to win the league, Leeds second and Sheffield United to win in the playoffs. Rovers to finish 13th with Derby finishing bottom, Swansea second bottom and Oxford United third bottom -
where did I say Hull or Boro are reckless clubs? On Mowbray, he should have got promote during his time here especially during the Covid season when we had Armstrong, Elliott, etc. He has a massive squad but if it was awful season, whilst his best season came when we had smaller squad and he had less options to pick from. Boro have sold some very good players recently and Hull have sold their best 2 players this summer and not reinvested the money so far We have had to sell players in the last 12 months cos of the problems with the owners in India Yes I am aware that income and revenue is just as important as sales and managing the future. Yes I am aware what we have brought into the could over the last 12 months. I think Wharton deal was a fair one where it will totally over £30 million for us if you including the 18m original fee plus 4.5m add ons plus a sell on clause. We weren't going to get more than we did. His price has gone up cos of his Premier League performances The Armstrong money was needed aswell as the sale of our transfer ground to stop us falling foul of the FFP and ending up in Transfer embargo which we would have done. You say you understand FFP rules but completely and utter ignored on this occasion. Why are Hull favourite for the top when they have sold their best 2 players and not spend any of that money so far. Plus have a new head coach there. FFP is real and relevant. You know the full situation regarding the paperwork mess up with McGuire transfer. Do we really need to go over this time after time? its been done to death now. Time to move on. We signed 6 players last week in 2 days

very unfair Comment there for me on Pears. I asked Nicko last night whether we would go back in for Drommel and his reply it wouldn't surprise me and said it would be loan. Without going the books completely and working out what is in FFP or not. Maybe you could do so. I agree now, we should be nowhere near the FFP but we also have to take account that the owners might not want to keep funding at the current level as they do. yes we would like to see us spend the cash and buy a striker for £5m from another Championship club, etc but we aren't. We have to be clever and smarter by looking overseas for 2 strikers and hopefully a good keeper from different markets.

Championship 24/25

Thanks for the reply. I think Luton is the team to beat. Edwards is good manager and Morris is suited to this league and the best striker in the league. Leeds look strong for me also. Sheffield United have made some very good signings like Moore, O'Hare, Burrows and Souttar. I think Boro, Sheffield Wednesday and Coventry look strong also. I think Cardiff or QPR could be this season surprise package On Burnley, They need to trim the squad and I did wonder what impact Kompany leaving will have and Parker coming in and changing things. Berge has been linked with Manchester United today which surprised me. Tommy Conway is a good striker and he has been linked 5 clubs.
