  1. in hindsight yes. But Wigan are defensively well drilled. Even through we had 3 good heading chances in the game that was it. dissappointing but we should have change it sooner formation and gone 2 up front. Yes to a point but nothing wrong with us starting the same way as against Bristol but Mowbray had to be quickly to change it then he was. the 1st 15 mins of the second half we dominated the possession and tempo but did not created anything apart from Gallagher's header which is disappointing.
  2. Would Hilton benefit more from a season of playing regular 1st team at league 1 or 2 level or being number 2 here
  3. supposedly Burnley would be interest in Johnson if Dyche left. I wonder who the Bristol City fans would like to see there as manager?
  4. is Fisher good enough to be 1st team keeper considering he had 2 loans this season at Northampton and MK Dons. He never played a game. on Hilton, I believe Mowbray and Rovers want him to play regular 1st team football next season at league 1 or 2 clubs thanks for the reply
  5. well I watched last week against Bristol City and the Wigan game and we played the same way from the start. I haven't listened to Kevin Gallagher's comments on Radio Lancs yesterday.
  6. I was impressed by Hilton the 1st time I watched him for under 21's and have been since them. I believe Rovers and Mowbray would like to loan him next season to play 1st team football at league 1 or 2 clubs.
  7. But knew last week against Bristol City when we would 3-1 playing the same way. Bennett move to left back and Rothwell in centre midfield for Evans
  8. And Sheff Wednesday have their 3rd choice keeper in goal today. Made a very good save from a header
  9. Mowbray questions Walton's decision making https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18546751.walton-claims-foul-rovers-boss-questions-decision-making/ He deffo wasn't foul for first goal. He hit Tosin Adarabioyo..
  10. As we discussed Bennett was playing there as 4/5th option cos of 3 injures to players who would play there before him and I didn't want to move Downing from the deep playmaker role where he played so well against Bristol City. I didn't mention Bennett poor performance cos alot of posters had already posted comments. no point keep repeating the point. #I thoughtt Downing was poor in the deep playmaker role. Yes Travis was shining light and was he went off we miss him. Just like we missed Evans again. on Brereton, he is getting better and looking better. its small steps but before the lockdown he had zero confidence. It will be interesting to see his team on Tuesday night at Barnsley
  11. I would have played Armstrong as I said all week and in the match thread today. Is he 100% fit?
  12. really? We played 4-3-3 with Downing as deep playmaker like last week
  13. Good win for Warnock at Boro. restore players to their proper positions like Howson back to centre midfield. Hull City had a good chance to win and blown it twice at Birmingham, Huddersfield into the bottom 3 tonight and play Forest tomorrow. Didnt realised Stoke City were so far down the league
  14. we didnt play any strange tactics today.
  15. I thought we were poor attacking. no Creativity. Downing and Rothwell poor which was a shame as I feel it was a perfect chance for Rothwell. I am a fan of him but he just lacks belief himself this season. Its annoying. Gallagher poor, had a good chance with a header and put it over, Samuel and Armstrong had 1 chance but thats was it. Expected alot better from us after last week. Brereton and Travis shining light. Davenport did more in his cameo this Johnson did in 28 mins. Walton wasnt fouled in their 1st goal as he was claiming but hit his own man of Adarabioyo. Wigan were nothing special just a very basic standard team and players. Should have been beating this lot. going to know 15 points in next 7 games to have any chance of playoffs. Hoping for a much better performance on Tuesday at Barnsley at 6pm kick off.
  16. 4-3-3 Walton Nyambe Lenihan Adarabioyo Bennett Travis Downing Rothwell Gallagher Holtby Brereton
  17. Well yes cos I would let William's go instead as I said before which you miss! So no reply to this again isnt that going to more expensive to find a cheap replacement when Bell is on about 5k a week at best(I guess) but a new signing would probably cost more when you factor in wages, agent fee, player signings on fee. Also when did I say loads of signings? Another comment without any evidence of me saying this by yourself again. More BS!
  18. Replace Bell on the cheap? isnt that going to more expensive to find a cheap replacement when Bell is on about 5k a week at best but a new signing would probably cost more when you factor in wages, agent fee, player signings on fee. I have said we need sign a full back. We also have a young left back coming through who probably isnt ready for championship football next season but a loan move next season where he is playing regular then he would be ready for the season after. Rovers had a club option to extend Bell's contract for 1 year, more likely at the same wage so no extra cost on budget. loads of other signings? I have just said around 5 or 6 signings this summer and their positions(2 keepers, 2 centre backs and 1 full back plus possible winger).. is that loads? other posters have said 10. surely that's loads I would let Williams go and use Carter or Maglorie as 4th choice and development them.
  19. very disappointed Armstrong isn't starting as the main striker today AND Evans being injured I would expect it to be 4-3-3 with Travis, Downing and Rothwell in midfield 3 with Gallagher on the right, Holtby has the false 9 role and Brereton on the left
  20. Relaxing FFP rules would means we wouldn't have to sell a key player or 2 Of course FFP rules or salary cap has an impact on the point you are making tho on next season budget. Extending Bell by 12 months covers us for next season whether he is 1st or 2nd choice. You mention a cheap left back but would he be any cheaper than extending Bell's contract for 12 months? when you factor in wages, player signing on fee and agent fees and possible transfer or loan fee involved. I wouldn't expect us to be signing players for millions like Gallagher or Brereton but I would say we need possible 5 or 6 sensible signings in the summer in terms of 2 keepers, a full back, 2 centre backs and possible 1 winger. whether its a 3 or 4 permanent signings and 1 or 2 loans.
  21. is Morgan Fox any better than Bell? Was very poor against us when we beat them 5 nil. The points you are overlooking every time with regards to next season's budget is currently we don't know what EFL are doing in terms of FFP rules being relax and is this salary cap being introduce next season plus when is next season starting and when will transfer window open and close. All these unknowns which every time you failed to acknowledge need to be sorted first
  22. Well like I said before how you can arrange a budget when the EFL havent decide whether FFP rules will be relax or salary cap come in or when next season will start? Which you have overlooked! So you need to know who this before setting any sort of budget for next season? You would like to think its could be done this summer by Skype due to the pandemic. It's the way Venkys work and they arent going to change cos we think they should. The reasons you arent interested in other clubs is that no other clubs knows their budget for next season until the things I mentioned above are agree and in place. Manager and recruitment teams of clubs will have different lists with players on but no one is commit until they know the rules and financial restrictions in place. You cant sign a replacement for Bell if we didnt exercise the club option in contract currently as the window isnt open. We have 8 games to go and very good chance of playoffs.
