Well, the two bits in bold might go some way to explaining what’s just happened (if it has, indeed, just happened).

There’s every chance they’re getting towards the end of preparing annual accounts… someone not happy with what they see?

Not really…the year end being reported on is June 2023. Activity in January 2024 is irrelevant to those numbers.

  2. It's been a crazy week in Blackburn Rovers World & our loyal panelists try to make sense of it all.

Corralled by host Roger Whiteside, listen to Ian Herbert, Linz Lewis, Katharine MacNamara & James Marsh as they struggle to separate fact, fiction and raw emotion.

Part 1 - Has JDT passed the point of no return?

Part 2 - Duncan McGuire - where does this rank in club record embarrassments?

Part 3 - Where do we go from here?

Hopefully listening provides some catharsis for all beleaguered Rovers fans right now.

*Pedantry klaxon*…sorry (!) it’s the annual confirmation statement that’s late…basically confirming names & addresses still unchanged. So they aren’t sharp on timely basic paperwork…fancy that…🤦‍♂️

I'm finding the situation so farcical that it becomes almost implausible for our executives to have made such a mistake again.

    Just beggars belief!

It surely does…but we are building up quite the portfolio of rank incompetence aren’t we ? Those Orlando guys put an amazing Twitter thread together in hours from scratch because so much madness has taken place under the current owners.

Funny how there were no issues sorting the sale of Wharton out. We could have done with his transfer away being messed then we could have kept him for the remainder of the season at least.

The conspiracy theory may just be that, just like an error on the funds they sent, which we supposed to be for the club, but were accidentally used to buy a house and fund a pop star.

There were issues though…the deal went through & was confirmed relatively late. Multiple journalists were saying there was a late snag…nothing we do presently is efficient/effective…clown car club

I don't think this needs to be made into something bigger or more elaborate. I think it is actually quite simple.

People on the ground, manager, Broughton, Silvester, do what they need to do to get the deal ready for finalising.

One of the final steps on this route is Indian approval. No purchases or cash commitments can be made without,

That approval doesn't come through in time. Either because they are busy doing more important things with their time, far too important to concern themselves with this organisation, can't agree on whether to do it or are bullshitters when it comes to money and won't authorise it despite previously promising to, fundamentally the end result is the same - no authorisation and therefore no transfer.

People on the ground are understandably left looking rather silly, so they can either be honest and blame the Indians and lose their jobs, or make up various increasingly unbelievable excuses but keep their jobs.

    I can believe this scenario…

Ok, before this conspiracy theory becomes accepted fact, by enough of us quoting and accepting it, I do not believe that the Venkys or anyone else deliberately allowed these transfers to get down to the last seconds and pieces of paperwork before intentionally sabotaging them.

There is no benefit to the club or Venky's in this approach, only severe reputational damage which lowers the financial value of the club.

Behind the scenes misunderstandings, differences of opinion, and sheer incompetence, yes, but planned chaos and fraud, I really don't think so.

There really is no benefit to anyone in this dysfunctional, immature, publicly self-destructive approach.

They save this stuff for the behind the scenes incompetent, naive destruction of our great club.

We underestimate institutional incompetence at our peril IMO…

Let’s not forget if we hadn’t have had McGuire in a Sheffield hotel for hours on deadline day, we would have had plenty more time to get the paperwork done. The reason he was there — “Rovers directors told Orlando they didn’t have the funds for the deal”.

I wonder who paid that hotel bill ? Sheff Weds ? 😆

One thing I have noticed through Venkys tenure is that I have become less & less drawn to the football. The drama sucks you in & takes over your interests, be that at the expense of football or other things in your life.

Does anyone else find their focus on Blackburn rover wain after a transfer window shuts? Summer & winter windows have become filled with anxiety that trickles into the fabric of your life, once the window closes & you think you can breathe, the drama spills out to the subsequent days, weeks & months. We are facing an excruciating 4 months until season end & only for the next installment to begin.

I want to know what is happening to my club but it is painfully apparent that it drags my mood down.

So, I had an idea today, would it be worth creating a thread that tracks events as they happen, facts, timelines, quotes & the occasional plausible rumour.

No comments or discussion, just to try to piece together how this mess plays out?

Whatever comes of this thread, be it a book, an unlikely Netflix documentary or simply a place to point any fan who believes venkys are competent owners who have the best interests of Blackburn rovers at heart. At the very least, we would have something to look at in generations to come & remember, "never again!"

Is this something that the moderators would think is possible or could facilitate?

    Rovers Wikipedia Timeline..? 🤔 Crowdsourced data…edited… maintained…👀
