Just when you think you have seen it all you see this 'fan meeting'. Why on earth is the CEO holding a meeting involving players with no manager present. The whole thing looks like nothing more Waggott looking to get certain prominent online supporters on side just days after audible chants from inside Ewood for him to go.

In my opinion those fans who attended have shown a massive disrespect to Jon Dahl and allowed themselves to be Steve Waggott's pawns in his attempt to cling on to his job.

In defence of the fans who attended - it’s been pointed out that no agenda was shared in advance so nobody attending knew the format until arrival.

A secret meeting that was secretly filmed and then secretly leaked all over the internet. Oh and the secret minutes transcribed. The most diabolical useless ceo hiding behind a few players, who looked bewildered, dragged out as a buffer between him and some random fans.

This is a dysfunctional football club and possibly the strangest one on the planet.

Re the filming…that’s CCTV at the venue. One imagines disciplinary action will take place regarding the member of their staff that leaked it.

BRFCS was invited (at relatively short notice) & @J*B attended on our behalf. Josh has reiterated on X that the thread from @glen9mullan covers the main areas of discussion.

@RoversTrust have also promised output following the meeting. As to who was invited & by whom I have no further information I can share.

I saw Mike Cheston's name mentioned earlier as a person who has left/will be leaving and being made the potential fall guy BUT I have been told he is retiring at the end of February and told the club of his intention in December. It doesn't take much to work out the lack of correlation with the transfer window given the dates. They have their scapegoat nicely wrapped up with boss on.

Nobody with credibility is buying that the FD oversees deal administration on the EFL portal. That simply won’t fly IMHO…especially if the fanbase keeps scrutinising & demanding answers…

I’m aware of that, the point I was making was it overlaps with the period where the Club were aware of the proceedings against the owners and the filings and there was the HMRC issue in that time frame. Combined with what’s going on at present, there has to be a declaration in the filings that we are a going concern. If someone’s being asked to put their name to that without agreeing to it, what might happen at that point?

    That’s a good point 👍

Sonethings between the reporting date of June and the sign off date is potentially relevant as they have to report significant post balance sheet events (or events after the reporting period). It's normally just a note to the accounts though and wouldn't change the numbers.

More relevant is that they also have to be confident that the organisation will be a going concern for atleast 12 months from the date of signing. I've said a couple of times that with the indian court situation, I wouldn't sign it off as a going concern so I'd imagine the auditors are voicing some concerns. The directors have to make a similar declaration that it's a going concern so I wonder if our FD wants to avoid declaring it a going concern and then it being plunged into administration.

I agree entirely with the going concern issue…for the UK directors trading whilst insolvent opens them up to personal liability.

    Ashfaq left at Xmas,

Cheston I believe has not left ,though his departure been on the cards for about a year as he wanted to retire last year, so it wouldn't surprise me if he departs in the near future or is working a notice period.

Neither related to the latest fiasco

Agreed…no way this is on the FD.

    ‘Receivables financings

These financings allow clubs to borrow against the value of their future income streams, such as transfer fees (received in instalments from clubs they have sold players to), broadcast revenue or sponsorship income (in the case of EPL clubs, being payments of Central Funds [4]) and season ticket income, to access liquidity upfront. This market is generally dominated by a relatively small number of lenders, especially in the UK where both the EPL’s and EFL’s respective rules state that clubs may only assign their entitlement to transfer fees in relation to the sale of a player to a Financial Institution [5] [6]whilst EPL clubs are also restricted from assigning their rights to Central Funds to non-Financial Institutions [7].’

Well, the two bits in bold might go some way to explaining what’s just happened (if it has, indeed, just happened).

There’s every chance they’re getting towards the end of preparing annual accounts… someone not happy with what they see?

Not really…the year end being reported on is June 2023. Activity in January 2024 is irrelevant to those numbers.

  9. It's been a crazy week in Blackburn Rovers World & our loyal panelists try to make sense of it all.

Corralled by host Roger Whiteside, listen to Ian Herbert, Linz Lewis, Katharine MacNamara & James Marsh as they struggle to separate fact, fiction and raw emotion.

Part 1 - Has JDT passed the point of no return?

Part 2 - Duncan McGuire - where does this rank in club record embarrassments?

Part 3 - Where do we go from here?

Hopefully listening provides some catharsis for all beleaguered Rovers fans right now.
