sorry to just jump on this thread without reading it all through properly, I'm not commenting on the subject matter at all right now just wanted to give my opinion on "screen grabs" in general, and that is that they should be banned and phones should have the action removed.

screen grabbing and Sharing private messages and images (usually cherry picked out of context from private conversations) causes so much trouble & embarrassment and in my opinion it's just a horrible sneaky two faced thing to do and makes it impossible to trust talking openly to anybody online these(even with actual friends)  😞

    Sorry, little rant over. 🙈

Facebook, Twitter & indeed BRFCS are public forums.

Don't usually promote stuff in here but we're doing a live deadline day show, completely Rovers orientated, from 8:30pm tonight. We'll have Jaquob Crooke, Rich Sharpe, @Herbie6590 & a few more live on the air as the deadline day clock counts down. Hopefully get an exclusive or two from the reporters. Feel free to join us later

Looking forward to viewing & participating 👍🏻

Not a big issue, but would it be possible to have the banner image on the front page support optimised images so that they look right on any browser/device?

It's constantly out of focus and blurred.

I know how hard you all work on the site, but this seems like an easy fix.

Do you mean this ? If so I suspect it’s more to do with the resolution of the photos we are selecting TBH…

We are looking into subscriptions for hi-res photo galleries but the prices quoted are prohibitive based on our current income.

Thanks for the replies. Consensus is that he’s a gamble, but that is the pool we are swimming in. Can’t believe we are seeing the sums for lukaku and Grealish.

I had forgotten about Ostenstad. What a great player. I was at the dell when he destroyed Man utd. Lovely player. So underrated.

I get the impression of all the strikers that have traded places he is at the lowest rung of Shearer, Davies, Beatts, Ostenstadt.

Always liked Rovers. Never been to Ewood, sorry to say.

I have been to Turf moor and to be honest was the best Balti pie I ever had(sorry)

Good luck on your season. Have fun. You’re not missing much in the premier league.

    We miss the TV cash…

Sorry but it is disgraceful and criminal to be selling the Championship top scorer for 15 million. Venkys and Mowbray don't give the slightest, the absolute slightest damn about the club - water is also wet, I know.

I just hope as hell it doesn't get invested into more useless loan deals.

He’s in the last year of his deal (granted, this is another example of contract negotiation negligence) but given we are where we are, the need to bring cash in is glaringly obvious - especially to potential buyers.

Factor in Covid depressing the whole market & the impacts are now being felt.

We can’t afford to buy anyone due to FFP so I suspect loans are coming…like it or not 🤷‍♂️

Are there any financial folks on here who can shed light on whether the sob story about Venky's business revenues being impacted by COVID is genuine or just another TM lie? Looking at their share price I see consistent growth from April 2020 onwards, which I wouldn't expect from a company that is in as bad shape as the manager seems to suggest here.

    Well…

Hi all I wonder if you can help or point me in the right direction.  My husband played for Blackburn I974/75 and I am trying to get some info / photos of his time there. He was only there one season. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated, Amanda

The best programme archive I’ve seen is on Flickr & if you go through each programme there might be mention of reserve/youth teams etc

    Good luck 👍🏻

Herbie, on the first point, Venkeys have been converting loans into capital. These are not IOU’s they are in fact investments that are not reclaimed. Rather what ever Venkeys sell the club for they would be written off as part of a take over.

On your second point I work for an Indian multinational and they are past masters of maximising their tax position. Do you think that Waggott or Cheston would have any say in the finances of the company? I don’t think so. The Swiss banks have untold riches of Indian families that have been hidden from tax authorities, so cash is never an issue, it’s how it’s recorded in the companies accounts.

    It was a simplistic analogy.
You agree that writing off the debt is window dressing though yeah ? Redeeming share capital only comes from a sale of the club, loans however are potentially repayable from working capital.
As we all know that’s theoretical; whether it’s shares or loans, the only way they get their cash back is Rovers somehow generating Champions League size revenue streams.

Re the 2nd point - do you envisage Waggott is capable of suggesting some innovative way of optimising our parent’s global status ? He set up a European scouting network post-Brexit, this ain’t Einstein we’re dealing with.

I think in terms of the fans view of them - if they wrote the cash off and injected the maximum they can, created some sort of “loop hole” sponsor to avoid FFP (see Etihad) and then immediately gave a top proven CEO carte blanche to do as they see fit… maybe that would entice more people in, regardless of the previous results / performances?

    1. Debt write off - it means nothing, even IF they did it, my take on them wouldn’t remotely be changed by it, it’s merely moving an IOU from one in tray to another, purely cosmetic - don’t focus on it, it’s irrelevant in the scheme of things

    2. Loophole sponsor - City Football Group is a sophisticated multi national organisation, employing multiple experts in their fields, financial, legal and football -  capable of moving assets and income streams around the globe to optimise tax positions, profit declarations and circumvent the worst strictures of FFP…we have Steve Waggott…‘nuff said 🤦‍♂️
