Went to The Auberge again...as good as ever.
Glad to hear it, was gutted to hear Gareth (owner / head chef /top bloke) suffered a bad stroke recently, hope he's back in the kitchen soon.
Think I'll go soon (on the early bird menu of course)

For takeaways
Pizza - Balti House, is pretty good but pricey
Kebab - Balti House or Omars in Accrington
Curry - Akash or Shah Joli
Chinese - I don't bother really they are all very similar on the whole
To eat in:
Italian - Nuraghes and La Scala are both great
Indian - Out of all the ones in Blackburn / Darwen I have tried Shajan is still my favourite
English gastro pub food - I enjoy the three fishes / Clog and Billy
Chains / quick service - Nandos is decent and I like the Chiquitos lunch menu. Also Pizza hut do brilliant offer between 3 and 5, a (roughly) 9 inch pizza, side or garlic bread, salad bar and a soft drink for £5.

Went to Mangiamos in Darwen recently, half price pizza and pasta every Tuesday and Wednesday when you buy a starter, avoid the beer and wine and two people can walk away full for under £20.
Its certainly not San Carlos standard, buts its much better than Algheros for me.
Was told about the food hygiene standards yesterday and anyone who visits Borrocos in Edgerton should take a look before the next visit
Gav, I've mentioned it before but La Scala on Longsight Road is well worth a visit on a Monday night, £3.95 for any Pizza / Pasta dish and the quality is pretty impresive IMO.

Edit and as I say that I look at the above link and see it down as a 1

Disgusting he was never inducted into the hall of fame whilst alive. I will never forget his matchup against the dragon. I so wish the rumour that he took Stephanie McMahons virginity is true. Whay a legend! Who can forget his rap against Hogan aswell. Be a man!!!
I'd rather those rumours weren't true as she was meant to be about 13 at the time!
-
I have only played an hour or so of LA Noire and I like it but I was hoping for more of a Free Roam experience, ie go to the cop shop when wanting a new case.
I raise a glass to rockstar though for actually having a colour manual and the badge pursuit challenge negatives are a great idea.

Not quite dude although Regal likes to be billed from Blackpool due to him wrestling on the pleasure beach in his youth he is originally from Doncaster or Darlington (I forget which)
-
No way Benoit should ever go into the HoF, Vince did the right thing by saying he'll never be mentioned again.
'The Wrestler' is a superb film for fans of the business especially but for anyone really.
Nice to see Wade Barrett doing well in WWE, Preston lad.
-
Be a bit of a weird WWE HoF if it didn't have any WWE stars in it no?
-
RIP. A true entertainer and a gent outside the ring, too. By all accounts he was very careful with his money and had begun to rebuild burnt bridges with WWE & also Hogan. A great shame.
Not sure Vince would have ever forgiven him for those Stephanie rumours. Will surely go in the HoF now though.
-
Another legend of the business gone. Rather sadly I'm a huge 'pro wrestling' or 'sports entertainment' fan and it's hard seeing so many of your old favourites go.
Thank god there are now more strict regulations with regards to steroids.
Rip macho man

He may be out of competitive action for that time but he will be fine for fitness training and the like at least.
-
Totally agree on the restrictive menu and that is probably why you had to order a steak off the specials.
Has anybody been or know of anyone who has dined at the new Thai restaurant under the Woodlands pub?
Edit: Menu / Gallery
Heard it was average and overpriced but not been myself

I jsut remember the first refusal clause, I don't think we have to worry just yet about Barca wanting him and if he does well enough for them to want him then good stuff
-
I'll echo that. Er indoors had that and it was both tasty and a massive portion. I was ravenous so I had the spare ribs to start and Fish, Chips and peas. btw Regular portion is more than enough!
For anybody that likes fish the Brill main course was excellent.
The only disappointed criticisms were the asparagus and shrimp starter (two warm dishes served with cold tomatoe's doesn't suit) and also the fish curry which is a bit mild and sweet for many tastes.
Just a point but the interior is very well done and tastefully decorated with the options of very private and comfortable booths but the only disappointment being the outside decor which makes it look like a down market Swiss ski chalet.
The in laws live opposite and I'm not a fan of the outside every time I see it but I am assured it will look great once the wood weathers a bit, apparently they have spent an abolute fortune on it. When I first saw it I presumed they were painting it white in a more nautical theme.
I haven't tried it for food but for a cheaper option Bannies at Boundry Mill is great still I think and well priced.
AS - yes it's what was the Hordens

Recently had a top meal at the Three Fishes and some great meals at La Scala next to Shajan.
Also had a lovely sandwhich in the sun at the Butlers on Sunday.
Off to the Golden Lion tomorrow for a mates birthday. 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £14 I think.

I feel sorry for him to be fair, to be asked to come on and play not in his best position against the likes of Toure isn't easy.
-
This lad has talent, that's obvious but we can't risk playing him in midfield in these crucial games whilst his decision making is still suspect.
It has cost us a point today and could also do massive damage to the lad as well.
I do think he could do a job alongside Benjani up top though.
-
He had to try something. The team has been crying out for a spark.
But I don't think an in-form Everton at Goodison Park was the best place for his full-debut.
I actually think Kean was right, better there than in front of a home crowd expecting a win
-
Couldn't agree more Brian, saying he wasn't ready just seems like another dig at Kean but in reality we don't need to invent reasons to have pops at him.
-
Wasn't ready at all
Yet was still our best player by a distance first half.
-
He starts today, come on lad, instant hero time.
-
His English seems great for someone here for 2 months, good lad. Sounds like he's really working to be a success.
I do wonder if he'll want to go back to Spain if we go down though as Barca have a buy back clause.
Let's hope he can be a success here.
-
Shame what became of Benni, what a talent though I loved watching him at Rovers, his interviews were amazing as well.
His goal against Arsenal remains a highlight of recent years
-
You can't blame his mum as she has lost a son which nobody should have to go through but I don't agree with her comments, he didn't need protecting if he was taking care of himself and it's wrong to try and look for blame (hopefully not a claim)

Damn didn't want to hear that.
He's a top guy, I worked there as a kid and he was great to work for.
