I said to the boy on the final home game of the season that whilst we agreed TM had run his course Venkys have an habit of replacing one manager with one even worse … then I read the links to Farke Carvahal and think maybe not .. he we are 1st June with no manager and those 2 now apparently out of the running a list of potentials that are distinctly average to uninspiring

I think most would agree Farke and Carvahal were the A listers , everybody else that has been linked (realistically) is B list material , Cocu Woodgate Ainsworth do not excite me .. Manning I just don’t know enough about to give a genuine opinion .. Ferguson Unsworth Carrick are all very risky although out of the 3 I think Carrick is the one that interests me the most Critchley has done really well at Blackpool imo , he for me me would be a leading contender everyone else is either pie in the sky Nuno Benitez etc or shite

Don’t know about Myers’s but a friend of the family knows Unsworth personally and has said both he and Duncan Ferguson are keen on going into management together(Good cop Bad cop) , I don’t know if he and Ferguson have been discussed or interviewed at Rovers but I have been saying for a while I would not be surprised to see him here and he would be one to watch

Carrick was always tactically astute you could tell by the way he played , he would immediately have the respect of our dressing room as you could see the Utd players thought a lot of him during his time coaching there his appointment would give the whole club a lift the same way Gerrard did at Rangers and Lampard did at Derby , I agree Lampards managerial career hasn’t continued on an upward spiral but I do think there’s a futures England Manager there . What Carrick has that those 2 didn’t is that previous experience as a no2 to one of the best managers around

I would LIKE it to be Michael Carrick and Neil Critchley , but I’ve said before David Unsworth is the wildcard , he ticks a lot of Boxes for Venkys young cheap available and has track record with young players and I am certain he will be considered

Just looking at some rank outsiders on Skybet … Kenny Jackett Callum Davidson Steven Reid Paul Warne Ryan Lowe wouldn’t surprise me if our next manager came from that lot

Farke is leading the way but I’ve also voted Michael Carrick , really think he could have an impact at a club the way Lampard and Gerrard did in their first jobs

Said a few days ago Unsworth is one to keep an eye on .. perfect appointment from Venkys cheap , available , used to coaching/developing young players and one they can control … Ferguson and Keane would be far too opinionated

Do PL clubs have to register their squads again after a transfer window ? Just thinking if there’s a player who will out of contract in summer and doesn’t get named in their playing squad would they be allowed to leave in Feb as a free agent
