January transfer window 2020
AJW replied to GunnerRover7's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
McGovern is a good shout , but as much as I would like to believe I can't see Mowbray replacing Walton after just 4 months into a season long loan , it would be seen like he's made another mistake , chances are the " new keeper" would be to replace Loot who is abysmal , those who think Walton is crap need to realise he is still the best we have ? -

Very much like Kenny Dalglish in his pomp , it's not just Dacks Goals we need to replace , it's the amount of goals he creates as well , I am sorry but Holtby Rothwell and co just won't contribute that amount playing as a number 10 "off the striker" , maybe like Chaddy says we may have to change formation to a more regular 4-4-2 Downing left Rothwell right Armstong and Gally up front Travis and Evans in middle of park be very organises work extremely hard and aim to win games 1-0 ... Seems to work ok for our face-combing cousins down the M65 -
Yes but some have been questioning Dacks appetite for that recovery and rehabilitation, personally I think they are underestimating his desire to be a professional footballer , let's be honest without football he is a nobody , some would say he's a nobody anyway , I can't believe that at 25 he is financially secure enough to last him the next 50 years or so living the highlife in Essex while playing for Us and Gillingham and thirdly Blackburn Rovers have a vested interest in this guy getting fit and get back on a pitch , they will be monitoring every minute his recovery

2 tough away games this week followed by Wigan and Birmingham at home (definately winnable) and Huddersfield away (again a game we have the qualities to win) , it's quite possible rovers could be in in top 6 by the time the window opens , that might get Venkys in the mood to spend -

I even see that as optimistic, my guess would be just one , a left back - barring any major departures of course -
If you could have any 3 Championship players

After Gallagher and Brereton I cannot see Venkys sanctioning another cash purchase on a striker , my guess would be that IF we are in the market for a striker one of Graham Or Samuel would have to leave , I say IF because "Brereton and Samuel will be like new signings" claptrap will be peddled out during January anyway -

Don't know what's happened with Johnson ... When we first signed him I was none too impressed , i'd seen him in a play in a game for derby back end of last season and he lacked mobility and players ran off him far too easily , having said that I thought he was excellent in the opening few games for us so much so I was ready to eat humble pie and admit he was a good signing after all -
It's not just changing the manager , as fans we won't really be happy until we are in the PL for that to happen we need some significant investment in the squad and some difficult decisions have to be made
-
Sheff wed and Leeds ...I think there's a fair chance we won't be picking up 6 or 3 points out of that ... 1 if we are lucky I have been a fan of Mowbray I think he turned the club around and we would of stayed up had he been appointed earlier than he did , but he's gone Into Wenger territory now , blindly ignoring our defence while adding attacking midfielders like a kid in a sweet shop , but...... His time is now coming to an end , I really hope the club do him a favour and release him now while he still holds some respect from Rovesr fans
-
My big annoyance with Mowbray (or his teams) is we just cannot hold on to a lead , I've lost count of the times we've taken the lead and not picked up all 3 points , the amount of times we concede goals at ridiculous times and how we never seem score after 90 mins to rescue a game... It's got to be a mental thing, like he pays no attention to coaching concentration because I genuinely believe the talent is there in this squad to be pushing for a play off place

Chris Hughton for me. Think Hughes will always be well thought of here but Hughton is the man with an impeccable record of getting team promoted from this league

Might be a good time to go with 3 at back , bring Tosin in and play Bell or possibly Downing at left wing back -

Never been convinced by this goal keeper , I said at the time it feels like he's a stop gap until we signe the one Mowbray really wants next summer ... I would much prefer Nyambe at right back instead of Bennett but that said we have improved defensively this year as a collective unit , midfield is looking pretty decent now , Travis Johnson Holtby Buckley Downing (when needed) and Evans gives us good coverage there . Where we are clearly struggling at the moment is goals Dack Armstrong Gally Rothwell And Brereton just aren't producing at the moment for one reason or another and if that's still the case come January some surgery need to take place there -
I am excited about this transfer , think he is better than anything we could of dreamt of back in June

Scared of flying ???... Wouldn't be the first footballer to sail or drive across the continent

We are still the only club to have who the FA Cup 3 years in a row , how lovely would it be to be the first (only) team to win it in 3 centuries
-
I would rather see Rovers win FA cup than Prem no I am not mad or on the wind up , but I have seen Rovers win the League , I have seen us win the league cup , I have seen us win play offs , play in Champions League and Murder Burnley ,the one that's missing is the FA Cup and I want us to win it soon , I am sure there is a stat somewhere that there are only 5-6 teams that can actually win the FA Cup in 3 Centuries and I want us to be the first

Going in car .. Any recommendations on parking

Warnock is a wily old goat , if he can exploit a weakness in an opposition he will , Hoilett will play left for them not right , Warnock knows his pace and trickery will cause Bennett a problem and hopefully entice a silly foul or 2 , if Bell plays he will expose his lack of concentration and not play an out and out winger , somebody like Joe Ralls who drifts around the pitch will play there or a big strapping centre forward
-
Play Bell or Hart at left back or upset Williams and his developing partnership with Lenihan .... Tough choice if it was a straight choice between those 2 options I would be playing Williams at left back . there is of course another option of playing Tosin in a back 3 and using Bennett and Downing as wing backs ?????
-
With hull danger coming from the flanks , it wouldn't surprise me if Nyambe came in at right back and Bennett played in front of him with Cunningham and Downing on the opposite side Travis and Johnson in midfield again and Dack left to support Graham Gally Rothwell and Armstrong waiting on bench if it all goes wrong
