  1. Bloody hell, I know this board sometimes descends into chaos & bitching in a big way but this takes the biscuit. Give it a week and the death-toll will be approaching a quarter of a million. (not science, just me talking off the top of my head.) I'm sat here in a warm house with food and clothing and a job to go to tomorrow, and internet access and a car outside to get me from A to B*. Just like the most of the rest of us on here. There are people out there who have lost everything they ever had, and that was probably close to sod-all in the first place. I feel disgusted that the Government of my country cannot offer more than a measly £15m and that the richest nations on earth (who are generally "western") are being equally Scrooge-like. It's no excuse to say that China has only offered $x. If China is a bad example then why follow it? And as for the arguement that we should only help our own? They are human, I'm human. End of discussion. * gearbox knackered. I'm still alive, I'll get over it.
  2. Oh for goodness sakes, this obsession with women's breasts is quite puerile Why don't you all grow up. Bottle-fed the lot of you.
  3. Bloody hell, This is turning into a BRFCS.co.uk version of "The Four Yorkshiremen Sketch." "Pies were thruppence ha'penny & you still had change to have a pint, another pie & a prostitute before going home to beat t'wife and put dubbin on yer clogs before church, next day. Grand. Champion. Eeeeeee! dolly blue. "I remember that little Thenodrog in his little clogs, scampering up and down Pringle Street like there was no tomorrow. The sparks fair flew off the little scamp's segs. "Come in for yer tea" cried his Mum " It's bread and dripping."" "And blow me, if there wasn't little Phillip, rushing up behind him for a bit of dripping." "We always gave him a crust, well it was only right and proper seeing as how his Mum was and all." "Sometimes that little Clayton and that little Jim would come , pressing their noses against the windows. But we told them to go away, we had enough of our own to feed. I'll shut up now.
  4. Just can't help wondering what the outcome of Cole & Dickov playing in the same team would be like? One would be buzzing around like a blue-arsed fly, the other would be hands-on-hips waiting for the next precision through-ball. I know which I would prefer.
  5. American, I'm sure that Phillip can argue this for himself without my help, but the amount that the richest nation on earth has offered is the equivalent of a bag of chips at half time at Ewood. And that said, the UK goverment has started off with £15m. The equivalent of two chips dabbed in a bit of ketchup. A total embarrassment. I find it a bit depressing all this bitching about "what did you do then?" Nah nah nah. No of us are really accountable for what our governments give in aid, we can lobby & protest and pressure the best we can. On a personal level you can either turn away and ignore, or dip your hand in your wallet or purse and stuff some money into one of the aid agencies accounts. I know which route I will be taking. The Government of my country has, so far, shown itself to be tight as a duck's a**e.
  6. Top notch Bellamy. Thanks Flopsy, get your lazy lardy-arse into gear. We want poetry. Alliteration, allegories, Stuart-Hall-isms....... "........and then, as the December dusk drew its dusty veil over the silent graveyard of Villa Park, Andy Todd rose like a leaping salmon to head in Rovers' fifth goal." Like, y'know.
  7. On the match day parking thing: The local authorities who have Liverpool, Everton, Manchester City, The Red Scum, and even Stockport County all have parking schemes for match days. They all have an obvious problem with parking on match days and they all have to address it the best they can without upsetting the locals and the fans. There is no simple solution.
  8. Doubt it, Souness has frozen out Robert. Ring any bells?
  9. Good comment 1864, that just about sums up my view too. How many fouls were there in this game? Everrton have reverted back to "The Dogs Of War" style rather than the "School Of Science." They did every trick in the book today. It was a minor miracle that there were only two yellow cards. I was sure that there would be a few reds, especially when Drunken Furguson came on and was marked by Angry Todd Just as an aside, for those of you who didn't see the game, Mark Halsey made a very strange decision (although probably technically correct.) We have recently started to have several footballs in the ground so that play can start quickly after a hoof to row Z. Play was in midfield when an extra ball rolled from The Riverside about 0.5m inside the line at The Blackburn End towards the Jack Walker Stand. Brad could have tapped it out of play in a second but Halsey blew up for a drop-ball in the centre circle, went over to the dug-out, presumably to tell off Rovers for the error. He then seemed to instruct the Everton player to hoof the ball from the drop-kick back to Brad, which duely occurred. Bizarre! Anyone else have a different view on this? Give it a couple of years and it'll be on "what happened next"
  10. Blimey! I know that being an optimist goes with a ticket to Ewood but to think that we have a good chance of winning is laying it on with a trowel. It is December, Everton are second in the league. We are eighteenth. P W D L F A Pts Everton 17 11 3 3 21 14 36 Blackburn 17 2 8 7 16 30 14 I think a look at that "w" column might just give a blooming great hint. That goals against column might just add to it. Bloomin' formatting, can't line up the table properly. Sack the mods!
  11. Would that be similar to the "brushing aside" we handed out to Bournemouth?
  12. Keep it going Den, we've done 9 out of the 11 and the final 2 are a formality anyway. It'll be just like coitus reservatus otherwise. Anyway, my panegyric to Ashley Ward is burning a hole on my C drive. (spell check that!)
  13. Another lacklustre performance. The sort of game that saw us go down with Hodgson & Kidd. A complete lack of invention and thrust. Pumping high balls to Dickov is a pointless waste, similarly playing NEJ on the left wing is asking too much, he's a central defender for goodness sake and he proved his worth there at City. Ggggggr. Angry,
  14. I must admit that Jim's depreciation of everyone else's posts are a little disappointing. Giving his massive knowledge of Rovers' history I thought that there would be at least one or two plugs for players who he has knowledge of, but younger posters don't know. But that's his choice. Maybe he'll zap in here with something brilliant for the two remaining players. I know I'm going to do something for one who probably hasn't a hope in hell of winning, because WE ALL BLOOMING WELL KNOW WHO THE TWO WINNERS OF THE BEST TWO FORWARDS ARE, DON'T WE? But I'll enjoy doing it.
  15. You put up a good fight there Brownie. Certainly beat my shout for Super Atko. See you on saturday, I'll hold the beer mat at half time.
  16. Okay. I was just trying to clear up something in my own little incoherent way. As long as "chook" isn't an insult down under I'm happy. No offence meant.
  17. OK folks, Third and final attempt by me to put across a point of view based on that comment. This is not about comparing child abusers with pickpockets. So to make it real simple this is about comparing child abusers with people who drop their cigarette ends on the floor. OK? Statement 1 Child abusers should be killed because that will make sure that they don't do it again (this is the comment I am arguing against BTW) Fact Killing these people will indeed make sure that they do not re-offend. Morally & ethically Is it right to kill these people just because it means they will not be able to re-offend again? Statement 2 People who drop their cigarette ends on the floor should be killed because that will make sure that they don't do it again. Fact Killing these people will indeed make sure that they do not re-offend. Morally & ethically Is it right to kill these people just because it means they will not be able to re-offend again? This is not about the seriousness of the crime it is about Please take time to read my post. Kindly do not accuse me of stupidity nor of equating dropping fag ends with mass genocide, the holocaust, Dunblane, Hungerford & The Yorkshire Ripper. If you feel the need to do so then you have probably not understood the gist of this message.
  18. JBM, Don't forget he's only on a season loan at the mo.
  19. ...and that's very restrained language. Not quite the words I had in mind....
  20. With all respect to Mo Camara, I think he is being a little naive. Maybe he should talk to John Barnes and his black predecessors who were subject to 5,000+ making monkey noises and throwing bananas. Surely the situation wasn't improved by "ignoring it." It has taken many years of work until football has reached the stage where 2 idiots make the news at Ewood for making monkey noises. It didn't happen by itself.
  21. Phil, Before you start hurling abuse about "stupidity" I suggest you read my post again. You may like to pay special attention to the phrase I used: "BTW I am not trying to belittle the offence." I should explain that this referred to paedophilia, and not pickpocketing. I apologise in case my post was not clear enough and you were confused. I hope this helps.
  22. Abbey, No, I am not comparing the two. I was comparing the comparative punishments and the comment that if you execute either they will not be repeat offenders. This is true enough, but I thinks it shows up the arguement for the "let's kill them all" as a rather simplistic answer. Colin
  23. Interesting comment from Chris Coleman as reported by football365.com Probably a load of meaningless manager-talk, and let's hope that Cole (not Coleman) spends the match on hands-on-hips mode
  24. By the same arguement it would work on pickpockets. I don't suppose that you are suggesting that society executes pickpockets are you? Perhaps you are So, you kill paedophiles. Then what do you do to rapists, armed robbers, murderers etc? Surely you need a punishment to reflect the seriousness of the crime? Quite a lot actually. Because it happens to be a trait. It's not rocket science to understand that if your parents beat the hell out of you then you tend to consider it an acceptable way to behave. If you had a happy & loving childhood then you'll probably be a happy and loving parent. AS, that point doesn't hold water. Delete "child sex offender" and insert "pickpocket." BTW I am not trying to belittle the offence, just trying to pick holes in the Old Testament-style of extreme retribution. Got to go now, time for my tree-hugging night-school lessons. Miranda has promised to bring some more of her tofu and bean-sprout dip. Yummy.
