  1. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/john-eustaces-clear-tactics-masterminded-29114160?utm_source=linkCopy&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar A very pleasing irony. Brum potted him after a decent start to the season, then a mixture of Mowbray and Rowett took them down.
  2. They are the main problem, without doubt. Personally. I wouldn’t trust Broughton even if significant funds were available.
  3. …..then Suhail and the owners will laugh and tell them to f*ck off.
  4. Disagree. If I thought we’d bring in an upgrade I’d concur. I don’t care about statistics to meet an agenda. We were shipping goals left, right and centre when Eustace took over. With one exception, he changed that completely. Prior to Leeds and Leicester those games were being conceded by some. We won them both. The guy has earned the right to a proper chance next season. There are no relegations on his CV, (unlike certain other head coaches I could mention).
  5. I’d be more hopeful if it was Eustace bringing in his own players. He might get a say, but signings are down to Broughton, which I see as a problem. We need new owners. All the problems lead to their door. If they pot Waggott, they will bring in another clown.
  6. 53 points and safety achieved . Eustace has done his job.
  7. Exactly, but one thing I have never thought was in question was effort and today that has served us well ☺️
  8. Alas, the whole club now functions as an academy, devoid of any ambition.
  9. Devil’s advocate - the weak bench is the reason he doesn’t make many changes. That bench would embarrass a League One club.
  10. Our bench is so weak, and we will always struggle over a season as long as that is the case. With five substitutions possible it’s such a critical part of the modern game.
  11. I don't see Eustace as fawning and smug. He's just not very media savvy and doesn't come across very well, so his interviews are uncomfortable. He doesn't strike the right balance between reality and positivity, and always strays too far towards the latter. He comes across as a bit thick, but I know a guy who was one of his school teachers and he described him as "bright". It's on the pitch where it matters, and for sure it has been a difficult watch, but if he keeps us up it will be job done for him this season, and he will have earned another shot next season. Any average manager from any division, (and probably any decent ones too), would struggle at this version of Blackburn Rovers.
  12. I think it's more a case of lack of quality and being error ridden.
  13. Agreed. Far stranger things have happened.
  14. Largely due to the fact that his working relationship with the previous head coach was damaged beyond repair.
  15. That is a fair and balanced assessment re - JDT , and not the sort I was alluding to. Eustace? He’s hardly set the World on fire, but if he keeps us up he’s done his job. I’m unmoved in my opinion that we looked like relegation on a stick towards the end of JDT’s reign. Since then we’ve been a tough watch, but if we scratch out enough points, that will do. Then we can all fret about the Summer Window.
  16. Yes, perhaps, and Mowbray well over-stayed his welcome, but I do think JDT’s overall performance has been elevated to well beyond reality by some. The horrible losing streaks, (for example when the pressure was on at the business end of last season), are clearly a Venkys trait, rather than a managerial one.
  17. Funny how no-one used to say that when we went on a ‘Mowbray death spiral”, the back end of last season being another good example. The head coach, whoever that maybe, obviously isn’t the main problem.
  18. Hardly a convincing argument in a few cases there, and yes, it’s just my opinion. Look at the number and the manner of defeats in the period before JDT left. Also, Eustace hasn’t had the luxury of having Adam Wharton at his disposal. As above, we were dropping like a stone.
  19. It’s black and white as far as I’m concerned. If we stay up, Eustace has done his job for this season, and if we go down he’s failed. We were on a one way ticket to relegation when he took over,(cue cries of blasphemy from JDT disciples).
  20. I can’t stand Venkys as much as the next Rovers fan, but if the intention was to deliberately get relegated , (no-one told Szmodics by the way), why get into a position where it is dependent on other results in the final game?
  21. I agree, apart from helping ourselves (which we aren’t good at), that game looks to be our best hope. If Hull hadn’t score that late equaliser (excellent game) I’d be forlorn.
  22. Agreed, and that was a gift horse in the mouth failure today. I can definitely see the results going against us next week, for various reasons.
  23. ……IF we’ve got a result, (or anyway if rotten fruit is readily available).
  24. I’m obviously hoping it goes well today, but if it doesn’t it will kick off, and I’ll end up arguing with the happy clappers who sit behind me.
