  1. The problem is that the hole at the bottom of the bucket keeps getting bigger, ie we can't defend and are showing no signs of improvement in that crucial area. We currently have no goalkeepers and only one decent centre half on our books. Okay, we got slightly more points that last season and finished marginally higher up the table, but not enough to claim tangible progress. That constitutes treading water, in my book. By default, I reluctantly agree with your last sentence, but only due to the point I made about the ignorance of the owners and the chief executive they have installed.
  2. They will stick with Mowbray through ignorance and because they have not appointed a suitably enlightened chief executive who could make an informed appointment. It's abundantly obvious that Mowbray has reached the end of his shelf life at Rovers, and that our direction of travel under him will very soon be backwards. That's what happens in this game when you attempt to tread water. Suitable candidates to take us forward are out there, some of them obvious, (e.g. Hughton), some less obvious, (which is why you need a real chief exec, rather than a hired goon for window dressing), to pick the right one. We are snookered.
  3. Myers' tweets about Rovers are very patronising. The subtext is how grateful and accepting we should be about watching mediocre Championship football. He evidently sees that as our station.
  4. Well Neil Warnock would've come, and whatever you think of him as a person, he is definitely a good Championship manager. The problem would be that any appointment would come from the bottom of an agency's barrel.
  5. Ainsworth would be a good shout. Won't happen though. Tony is nicely embedded.
  6. .......which usually means a no show, when there is something riding on the game. Time to buck the trend.
  7. Translation : Fewer and fewer fans in the ground watching boring rubbish and an inevitable, gradual decline.
  8. "You're not good enough for the top two, lads". Truly inspiring.
  9. Correct decision for me. No attempt to play the ball. A pre-meditated decision to go and boot someone, (almost a carbon copy of the Exeter player in the Play Off Final the previous evening). The fact Mowbray seems to be saying he won't appeal says it all. At least Brereton's finally made his mark!
  10. ….and don't forget to ask Neil Yardley for his pre-match playlist, so we can listen to exactly the same tracks at exactly the same time they are played before every home game
  11. Mowbray's tenure is reminiscent of Bowyer's, except he has spent more money in the transfer market. I expect he will eventually leave under similar circumstances as, in my opinion, like Bowyer, he clearly isn't going to take us up another level. He's stabilised the ship, fair play, but at some point it is likely that we will stop treading water and start drowning. Many of the players we now need to ship out are his own signings. For all his talk of a long term plan, if he is here in ten years time we still won't be in the Premier League, or anywhere near it. His one promotion from this division pre - dates Owen Coyle's. Enough said. Add to this, some of the football at Ewood has been dire and is not going to fill empty seats anytime soon.
  12. If Bennett really has had flu for "three weeks" he will be close to death! What a load of rubbish, Mr Mowbray (surprise surprise).
  13. I want us to win in order to prolong some meaning to our season. Otherwise we can start singing, "F*ck the cup, we're going to finish 16th, doo dah doo dah".
  14. He's not a newbie manager, so if he hasn't worked out how to set up a defence by now, (which he hasn't), he never will. The coaching staff working under him are his responsibility. I agree that another poor appointment will almost certainly follow his eventual departure, so we're damned either way.
  15. It's certainly left field, but every credit for showing a bit of imagination. No doubt when Mowbray finally does get potted, we will go hunting in Jurassic Park again.
  16. Now that's what you call a reply ? Every credit, and I only wish I still felt the same way. I live in Blackpool now and have spent much of my life there. For me, it's not just about the shortcomings of Mowbray. I simply have no faith in the owners or the people they have installed to run the club in England. It's got to the point where the club is so tainted I barely recognise it anymore. I certainly wouldn't have Warnock as my first choice to take over, but if it was a choice between him and Mowbray, Mowbray would come third. I'm not averse to the idea of Johnson taking over, but think there are better options out there. Unfortunately, it's likely that nothing will be changed until it's too late.
  17. The majority of the fans who can still be bothered to attend simply sit in a state of apethetic stupor. I would imagine a good many are getting to the stage that I am at - i.e. What's the point? The owners may well still believe all the talk of a "project", but more and more supporters are now seeing through this smoke and mirrors fabrication, and can see it's an excuse for mediocrity (at best) in the here and now. There is little chance of the necessary change coming anytime soon, and even less chance of Neil Warnock taking over, (especially after the pantomime a few years ago when he was set to be appointed). If he did come it would reignite my interest. How great it would be to have a bloke with fire in his belly in the dugout.
  18. Mowbray is on record as saying he told Bauer he would have to be content with being a squad player who would have to fight his way into the first team. After signing for Preston, Bauer stressed how impressed he was with Alex Neil during talks. Enough said.
  19. Agreed. We will end up spunking 10 million on a couple more "project" signings. In Mowbray's case, the word "project" is a cover for ongoing mediocrity.
  20. I'm waiting for Steve 'Totally Wicked' Waggott to present him with a three year contract extension on the back of that scratchy win.
  21. Hard to see him gaining confidence playing behind our defence! He's been very poor, unfortunately. Something a new manager would want to address, but probably won't be able to as the window will have long shut when he arrives.
  22. "They know he is changing BR and it will take time". Translation - They are still swallowing his bullshit, hook, line & sinker.
  23. Devil's advocate - there wasn't decisive action when Coyle was at the helm. The time to move is now, before the next six points are chucked away. A bit of new manager / caretaker manager bounce is needed.
